Luka Modrić and his magical run at Real Madrid continued Sunday night at the Santiago Bernabeu. It’s well known that Modrić only has three months left at Real Madrid and has been downgraded to the bench from the A-team. Sunday night, Modrić came off the bench in the 75th minute and rifled in the game’s lone goal off the post six minutes later from 23 yards out. It sent the stadium into an absolute frenzy and earned Real Madrid an important three points against Sevilla. With the win, Los Blancos now hold an 8-point lead on 2nd place Barcelona heading into week. Modrić received a 9/10 grade from Goal.com as he “Came off the bench and scored an outrageous goal to win it. Put in a crucial late tackle, too. Class.”
Mateo Kovačić got the start for Manchester City Saturday and played 84 minutes in a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth. The win puts City one point behind leaders Liverpool on the Premiership table. Kova received a 6/10 grade from Goal.com as he was “Very good at relieving pressure by shielding and winning free-kicks, but his positioning often left something to be desired, as he consistently pushed up, leaving Rodri as the sole anchor in midfield. Subbed late.” However, Kova supplied the pass into the box that led to City’s goal. It could have very well been an assist if Haaland got a better look at goal. Gvardiol will be out another 1-2 weeks with a minor ankle injury.
Luka Sučić with 2 assists in Red Bull Salzburg’s 7-0 win over Austria Lustenau (highlights?)
Andrej Kramarić was taken off in the 68th minute (injury) of Hoffenheim’s 3-2 win over Borussia Dortmund Sunday. The extent of Karma’s injury is not yet known.
Nice goal from Kova today. Hopefully, this instills a bit of confidence in him to shoot more.
Sucic out 4 weeks its in sn news paper
Great news, let’s hope that 4 weeks rest and physio do the trick.
Sucic is fine just some right knee irritation.
Yes not serious coach of Redbull made it sound like it was a serious injury luckily it’s not.
Wow what a relief. Whatever he can do moving forward to pro-actively protect and strengthen his knees, if possible, would be a great investment. To have his candle blow out before it shined would be a shame. We still have yet to discover who he can be.
I just messaged him on IG. When he tells me I’ll let you guys know.
Oh man.. just did the google translate for the Austrian article. Does not sound good. He is getting MRI done today. It was his right knee, last year the ACL was his left knee. Fingers crossed it is not serious but from what I read it does not sound hopeful. What terrible fortune.
I’m old and I know how to use the internet better than the young generation. Sucic had an MRI today nut the results have not been released. It’s in Austrian media not Croatian media hint hint.
Sucic is injured again??? Can’t see this info anywhere
On Sucic injury https://www.krone.at/3267610
This Sucic fake news (it is nowhere to be found on the internet – in any language) reminds me of the depraved posted the fake news about Perisic’s knee
Can the original poster provide where they “read” this “news” ?
Yea I don’t see anything on Sportske, Index or Slobodna about Luka Sučić. Just a bunch of articles about his two-assist game.
Maybe there is something in the Austrian news?
Either that, or Cro911 got us all good.
Looks like there is something from Austrian news.
https://www.krone.at/3267610
They are doing an MRI scan today to confirm the extent of the knee injury, but it doesn’t look good.
“…at first glance, no injury could be seen.
But the second time it was clear that something was wrong. The 21-year-old was immediately treated by the team doctor, coach Gerhard Struber gave an initial update after the final whistle, but didn’t seem optimistic: “Luka felt something that doesn’t make us very hopeful.” An MRI scan will be carried out today, which will provide information should. Nevertheless, it is clear: Salzburg could have to do without the magic of the “magic foot” for a longer period of time.”
Not seeing anything on Sucic, any links?
There is nothing in Croatian media about ACL injury to Luka Sucic. I went and watched the reply of the match in question and Luka Sucic was subbed in the 66 th minute with three other Salzburg players. He walked off normally and there was no apparent injury as he shook hands with the players coming on.
From what I saw he is not injured unless he did his knee walking from the dugout to the dressing room. I think news about his ACL injury is fake news ?
Nikola Cavlina our U21 goalkeeper from Lokomotiva injured his knee on the weekend and had to be replaced. He will have scans on Monday to determine how serious the knee injury is.
That is now two ACL injuries in a row at Kranjčevićeva in less than eight days
Man .. I was just happy to see Luka on the pitch when I flipped to the Real Madrid match.
Then he bangs in the game winner and only goal of the match?!
As tough as it is for him to not be featured anymore at Real. He will be fresh for the Euro’s for Croatia.
His quality and skills do not look on decline at all.
We have to set him up higher up the pitch with limited defensive duties.
Everyone else around him has to run.
Let Modrić play his role to win La Liga and make a meaningful run in the CL.
Come June it will be on for him !!
Truly, Modern medicine is pretty amazing. Respectfully, Sucic needs to get treated with real stem cell injections. If not in Europe he can get treated in Mexico legally. It truly fixes all tears. I’ve seen what can be done. Putting it out there so in case he or relative reads this he can look it up.
Also,Luka as I understand had a pretty intense training for his legs as early as his days in the Bosnian league to make his legs pretty much stronger than anyone playing and Luka should talk to Lukita about building those muscles afterwards. At 38 our legend can guide him.
Over the weekend, I started hoping that our players will stay healthy in view of the upcoming Euros. But pretty much the opposite happened… Krama and Budimir got injured, the latter suffering a fracture in one of his sinuses. Then came this terrible news about Sucic.
Really shocked and saddened by this development. I had thought Sucic might be a fortunate guy who would recover from his knee injury and go on to fulfill his potential.
Anyone seen a report of his injury?
Man I was hoping sucic was gonna be the new raketa
Wtf
Are they pushing their bodies so young so much?
I sure hope our midfield pipeline won’t dry up
Baturina is hopefully the real deal
Need more applications
Mean while luka playing with the knees of a 19 year old!
Looks confirmed that sucic tore both acl and mcl. If it was a contact injury, one could at least say it’s flukey. The fact that no one touched him and he had another contact less knee injury likely just indicates bad knees that will likely keep him from ever reaching his potential. No one ever says “his knees will get better as he gets older”
Damn shame.
So many of our youngsters destroyed by knee injuries.
I’m going to write him off and put him in the same ‘damaged goods’ bin as Pjaca, Moro, Krovinovic, Stojkovic, Kacavenda, etc.
So sadly unbelievable, was looking to see him develop into something special.
Reports from Austria are they fear Luka Sucic may have tore his ACL after coming off for an injury in Saturday win.
MRI on Monday to determine if it’s that bad.
Damn it
After I said how quick he looked
I sure hope it’s not serious
jebeno. almost one year when he had surgery on left knee. Not good for him
LUKA LEGEND
If it’s all just one big reality show with biased refereeing, then what are you yourself doing exactly?
Do you go to Harlem Globetrotter games and talk smack to the Washington Generals, and then cheer when the Globetrotters win? ha ha
I’m gonna get you tickets to Wrestlemania. You’ll have a great time.
He thinks he’s got the inside scoop
?
That was a penalty 100%. I was shocked at how stupid the guy was to elbow Spikic in the box with 1 minute left in the game.
jel bio penal za nas? možda i je. mislim da je bilo. nema veze. neka srbi u RI plaču.
ja se smijem i veselim zbog suđenje u varaždinu.
a vi dečki ili djevojke u SAD možete gledati što god vas zanima.
It was not a good game. Very few chances. I expected more from Rijeka but Sopic seemed happy with a draw after halftime. Only played for counter attack. Goda was a penalty soft I would say as there was not much contact with the elbow on Spikic but still a penalty.
Far from 100%.
Soft penalty, but VAR was never going to call the ref to have another look.
I understand why someone would think rakitic as a sucic comp. It’s because sucic isn’t a metronome type midfielder like modric (although rakitic could do this a bit) or a runner like bozo vic. Like rakitic at sevilla the early years, sucic has a bit more final third in him and a strong foot. He has more speed than rakitic though but possibly not as much touch. Time will tell
Re: Musa
lol
Is this how they run things in the Mickey Mouse MLS ?
Coaches asked player how long he needs before he can play
Musa saying 3-4 sessions before 45-60 min
At 25 Musa already can’t play more than 60 min ?!!!! lol
Maybe that’s why he was a sub in Portugal (he only played more than 60 min in a couple matches this season) as opposed to not being selected to start the game
https://twitter.com/IamLivengood/status/1761603772944351703
I think you’re reading too much into this.
He said he needs 3-4 training sessions with the team before playing.
This makes sense because he’s a striker and wants to get some chemistry with his teammates, so they’re not out there playing for the first time with each other during a real game.
Usually players have full training camps for weeks before they begin their season (to build chemistry with one another). Obviously he won’t have that, so he’s just being realistic by saying he needs a few practice sessions beforehand. This has nothing to do with his age.
Definitely agree on the tactics / chemistry part (common problem for late summer / Jan transfers – when they don’t have a full pre-season)
But why did he tell the coach for “45-60 mins” ?
Suggests he needs 3-4 sessions to bring his fitness up to that level (w/out that how long would be last ?) – there is a wk before next game anyways so if he’s arriving today he’ll get 5-6 sessions
When will he be ready to play 90 min ?
Makes it seem like he’s goofing off – waiting for the visa stuff to get sorted – rather than training every day on his own and be ready to play 90 min from the first game – esp. in the MLS
Maybe (hopefully) it’s a language issue / misunderstanding b/w him and the coach – but than really weird for the coach to say it to the media
nema tu ništa sporno. čovjek je došao u novu sredinu. želi malo vrijeme da bude spreman.
I watched the second half of the Salernitana match today. Toma Bašić is a good player. It’s a shame he spent so many years as a bench warmer but good that he’s running a Serie A team’s midfield now. As soon as he was subbed off, Salernitana went from being the better team just looking for a winning goal to being totally inferior and losing 0-2. It means Bašić is that influential on the game. Bradarić is one of the better players on Salernitana, but he’s better in the attacking third than on defense. He’s too small and slow to keep up with some of these wingers, but he is a smart player with great technical skills.
Basic is just over 27
Bradaric just turned 24
Hoping they can both hit that prime Croat years still
Thanks for the updates brate
they are not national team caliber players. Expect them to bounce around to many more clubs
Yes most likely but we can hope and wish them the best anyway
It’s nice to know if 3-4 freak injuries come we don’t have super rift raft coming in the ranks
That’s not true.
There are plenty of guys who can be useful depth players and Basic and Bradaric (as Serie A regulars) could easily fit that bill…especially if they continue to grow as players.
Sure, they likely won’t be NT starters but we’ve had a lot of guys have late resurgences in their careers (even in their late-20s) and plug into the team, giving us good depth.
Exactly. The idea of “national team caliber” players being some highly exclusive club is unrealistic because of injuries. Look at 2014. The repka was stacked with NT caliber players at the time, except that two of them got injured, so the team went to the world cup with no true left back and only one true left winger. The result was a very disappointing showing. Compare that to 2018. Strinić and Pivarić, arguably a weaker combination than Barišić and Melnjak, took turns on the field and did everything they could to get Croatia to the final. If Brozović gets injured, who can play his position? Jakić and Bašić are the only two who are regularly starting at that position for top-flight clubs besides Milan Badelj who retired from international football in 2018. If Sosa gets injured, who do you call? Bradarić would have to be under consideration. The other choices are basically Barišić and Robert Ljubičić, and neither of them is really better than Bradarić overall. Also, I think NT caliber is a diversion from my original comment. Regardless of their “caliber,” I was sharing an observation about two Croatian players who deserve our respect on this site because they are Croatian athletes.
Good speed on that first sucic assist it appears
Looking like he has nicely recovered
Give him time
Where was rakitic at this age?
He wasn’t where he finished
I only say rakitic cause for some reason sucic reminds me a bit of him
Thought Sucic wasn’t playing soccer anymore?
Haha.
It seems like any time one of these regular haters posts something on here about our players…that player then immediately responds with a goal or assist.
There are some rumours swirling that Andrej Kramaric wants to leave Hoffenheim. Not sure if anyone mentioned this already. But it feel like Kramaric has done all he can for that club, a move could be good for him in this next window.
Great goal by Sigur for Hajduk. Bounced up nicely for him and……cekic time.
Looks like Hajduk should have picked up a goalie as well as Brekalo, Perisic, and Kalinic. A goalie giving up weak goals is a gut punch and undermines confidence to the entire team. Be a shame for Hajduk to lose the championship with an otherwise strong team. Livaja near his prime and Pukstas and Sigur looking very effective. Hopefully Hajduk can hold onto the youngsters for another season or two so they can reward their fans with hope for playing in the Champions League.
Pukstas has been a disaster ever since the comp has resumed. He is not the only one to blame for the poor results, it’s the whole team and the coach. Good goal by Sigur, but that was his first for Hajduk if not mistaken. I wish that Hajduk was using a lot more youngsters and giving them opportunity to develop, but the truth is they are not.
Hajduk has such a low UEFA club coefficient meaning that they are not seeded and thus making it almost impossible to make the group stages of CL. On current form and with this squad the reality is that Hajduk will be lucky to make the group stages of the Conference League.
nema vise “group stage” of CL.
Luka sucic with a nice early assist! He needs to get hot
https://x.com/footballreprt/status/1761422855873450048?s=46
Make that two assists in the first half!
Varazdin and Hajduk finish a draw at 1-1.
