Andrej Kramarić scored a fantastic goal from 21 yards out Sunday in a 3-1 Hoffenheim win over Augsburg. Krama curled in a perfect shot just inside the right post for the winning goal. He has now tallied nine goals and one assist in 24 Bundesliga matches this season. Hoffenheim sit six points behind a 2024/25 European berth for next season.
Luka Modrić and Real Madrid have the weekend off from La Liga action. They face Manchester City Tuesday, April 9th in the 1st leg of the CL quarterfinals
so you guys put up a Hajduk thread but you don’t update it?
just for reference and to answer the question….
“Can Hajduk Save Face With A Victory Over Rijeka Sunday?”
Hajduk lost the game and then this morning lost their President and their coach…pretty big changes in a short period considering the fact that Hajduk were the so called “Fall/Autumn Champions” only a few short months back by the media (Davor, if you’re too stupid to read articles don’t blame me for posting things you know nothing about)
I asked the question several weeks back when Perisic arrived back at Hajduk. Perisic is a true professional and guys like Livaja, Elez, Kalik and nowhere near as professional or disciplined. How will Hajduk keep Perisic happy if guys like Livaja and a few others continue with their lack of professionalism?
also, how do you sign Brekalo and then not start him vs Rijeka and then the 2nd game last week vs Dinamo? Nikola Kalinic was held in SUPER high regard…another media show displaying the man that played for AC Milan and Fiorentina signed his childhood club for $1 Euro…when in fact Leko sacked him because he is crap and Karoglan brought him back to make a circus event. in the meantime, Hajduk youth aren’t getting any closer to getting chances on the first team, Brekalo is eating up a good portion of some kids salary and the refs that Hajduk soo badly wanted to intervene are not working out so well for them!
all those allegations of the HNS and Dinamo and Mamic and the refs sabotaging Hajduk are quickly being debunked, like they are every other season and yet we will forever continue to hear about. Last season the refs were accused to show favourtism against Hajduk and yet Hajduk that season had the second most pk’s in the WORLD….only a team from Costa Rica had more pk’s than Hajduk so how the hell could they complain that refs are against them?
they need a taste of humble pie and accept that they just aren’t as good but they are hyped more than anyone else!
Where did you get that PK stat?
Hopefully that is being circulated in the Cro media a bit, just so people can stop with the whole ref thing.

For those not understanding that Gvardiol needs (and can) increase his speed
Just look at Mickey VDV
Top speed 22.3 mph (last yr Wolfsburg)
Top seed 23.3 mph (this year Spurs)
That’s 1.0 mph improvement YoY
He literally gets standing ovations during games from 60,000 fans for his sprints
twitter.com/SpursOfficial/status/1777319363088887885
So it’s definitely possible to increase your speed/pace with the right training
Gvardiol needs less weights / strength training (which is weighing him down) and more speed work
Maybe he can reach out to Mickey VDV and they can train together his summer ?
Just a thought
YAWN.
Elite talent and plays his best in the homeland colors – can’t wait to see what he does in Euro 2024.
Seriously.
What he did at WC2022 was unmatched by any of our defenders in history.
We all love guys like Robert Kovac, Stimac, Bilic, Tudor, etc. But Gvardiol put in our best ever CB performance in a tournament (and did it as a 20 year old).
Croatiansports team, my comment for MART, Dannyj, Z and Anonymous is flagged for moderation—please help!🙂

My feeling is that Crnac is still a bit raw but has the physical attributes to succeed at a higher level. He also appears highly competitive. Think he used to play on the wing at Slaven but is now playing as a center forward for Rakow. In the game last Friday vs Radomiak, his team lost 2-1. Both Crnac and Vuskovic played the full 90. I suppose Vuskovic played (yet another) good game… aside from that wonderful block on Crnac’s shot in 1st half stoppage time, he also made a crucial clearance late in the 2nd half. Probably should stay another season at Radomiak and let him boss the Polish league😛 Crnac recorded an assist in this game. In the 49th min, he did a good job to outjump the Radomiak defender to knock down the cross for his teammate to tuck the ball home. He’s definitely got a good jump on him, however….. it was also his header in the 25th min that kinda led to his teammate scoring an own goal. He was defending against a very long throw-in that went into the 6 yard box, but somehow headed the ball backwards and straight towards the goalmouth, where his unlucky teammate could only try in vain to clear. Fyi Rakow will host Legia Warsaw on Saturday and although both teams are realistically out of the title race this season, it’s last season’s champs versus a big Polish club with both fighting for a European spot, so maybe Arena Sport will show it? Let us know if you happen to watch Crnac play for Rakow, MART🙂

Goooood question. Dang I forgot the squad size limit is now 23😱 If UEFA doesn’t revert the limit to 26 (reports are saying it’s under consideration), I guess it’s goodbye my hopes of seeing Sucic or Baturina on the Euro roster..??

It looks like Luka Vuskovic won the matchup this time around! Let’s hope Crnac will keep improving and that his team will finish the season with a European berth (top 3 in Polish league).
Dinamo Zagreb makes public plea for Modric to join club in summer:
https://worldsoccertalk.com/news/dinamo-zagreb-makes-public-plea-for-modric-to-join-club-in-summer/
This would have been a good idea if Dinamo had planned in advance of Modric’s eventual departure from Real Madrid and built a team he would be willing to join and thrive in.
Modric alone won’t do that much for Dinamo. Dinamo should have planned to coordinate the return of 2-3 veteran guys at the same time, and not done this in a year after selling off some key international players like Orsic, Sutalo and Livakovic.
It’s the same thing with Hajduk and Perisic. I recall Edin Dzeko saying he would join Hajduk (when he was at Inter with Perisic).
It would have been cool to see a package of older vets coming to Hajduk and Dinamo to join them and see how far each team could go in Europe.
If Hajduk was going to lose, I was hoping it was because Pašalić or Pjaca would do well. So good to see. Bodes well for the right side of the national team. Marco seems to be a deadly threat all the time. A young Perisic.
Hajduk needs to complain to HNL about these foreign referees. Three matches with German, Italian and now Romanian officials and three losses. What is going on? this would have never happened to Hajduk if we had Croatian referees.
This is what happens when you whine about the Croatian referees and leak VAR communications to media. As a Hajduk fan I never thought that the Croatian referees were biased against Hajduk on the contrary I thought it was the opposite. I hope that from now on Hajduk will stop blaming the referees for their on field deficiencies and show more respect to the Croatian officials who in my opinion are not that bad.
When did the influx of foreign HNL refs start happening?
For all the big matches (Haj v Din, Haj v Rij and Din v Rij), HNS has decided to appoint foreign referees for the rest of the 2023/24 season.
It all started a month ago or so when things started to go bad for Hajduk and they started complaining about the poor officiating in the HNL and releasing confidential VAR communications to the media.
HNS in their wisdom to avoid any potential controversy in the big decisive matches have gone for the foreign referees. In my opinion a mistake and does no good for the confidence and development of our own match official’s. From what I have read the foreign refs will get 6K Euros for the middle and 3 K for linesmen and VAR. This is x10 more money than what our own officials get.
Our 50 m transfer post Euro boy scored a banger today
Very Jarrod Bowen like
https://twitter.com/TheCroatianLad/status/1777057032194970100
Oh my that was a banger
If he did that on purpose
Your 50m prediction may come true
For real say if he has a big euro
What can a team like Rijeka expect to get?
Genuinely asking
Surely if he played in Zagreb he would be worth more on the open market
To all the Hajduk navijaci on here.
Hello.
How was the M pasalic goal?
How did Perisic look?
Perisic got another 20 minutes or so and looked OK. He provided a beautiful cross for Trajkovski on the far post however the guy missed with his header from a very good position. Perisic even tried a bicycle kick which went wide. So far so good we just need to hope that all will be Ok as his playing time on the pitch gradually increases.
Wonderful to hear
He will lay it all out there one final time for Croatia if he is healthy enough
Bicycle kick?
That’s good to hear, ha ha. Looks like this guy will actually be ready for the Euros.
Now, we just gotta get Orsic some game time and we’re set.
I don’t think people realize how lucky we are that we have an in-form Petkovic and Budimir…along with a red-hot Kramaric (who has been scoring all our goals for us since the World Cup).
Adding some more offense on that left side (with hopefully all of Perisic, Orsic and Ivanusec rounding into form) and we’re about to have a good tournament.
Sorry – just posted it !
Jarrod Bowen-like transfer fee (post Euros) – here we come !
twitter.com/TheCroatianLad/status/1777057032194970100
Ajax decides not to start any of our Croatian defenders and promptly lose 6-0!!!!
I am more worried about ivanusec..only subbed in 84th min when leading 6-0.
Majer benched for wolfsburg despite scoring last wkend
Ivanušec coming off an injury from the Tunisia game
Good to know it wasn’t all our boys fault this year
Sutalo was on the bench, meaning that he has recovered from the hamstring injury which is good news. Sosa not even on the bench, hopefully he is not injured?
https://www.goalstube.online/2024/04/tsg-hoffenheim-fc-augsburg.html?m=m2
Nice finish from Kramaric.
@Davor
Did you see Luka’s block of the CENTURY yesterday ?
This is the best read I have ever seen by a defender in a wall in context of a free kick by the opposition – I mean ever – he saw exactly what the play was reacted (see how he never jumped up, unlike the rest of the way, rather turned around as knew ball was being played thru to striker) and save his team yet another goal
Defending doesn’t get better than this – let’s be honest 99% of folks in the wall just jump blindly (sometimes w/ eyes closed) and are mostly focused on protecting their Crown Jewels and/or their face – the real heroes just turn completely around so the ball can hit their backs
twitter.com/attacthespace/status/1776329404399988839
The new king luka one day
One can hope
For sure as the leagues get harder of course it’s harder
But that read is natural instinct and that can happen in any match at any level and that is natural feel
May he become our greatest defender of all time
If him and gvardi can both peak out the way we hope
Those back two will be as good as anything Italy has had
There I said it, shoot me
@Dannyj @Maminjo
He could end up being an excellent partner w/ both Gvardiol and Mickey VDV – as his relative strength seems to be aerial duel, partly bc of his height (an area that both Gvardiol and Mickey have relative weaknesses in their games) and right-footed
Obviously early but seems to be in a similar mold of Romero (so in a couple of years could be a perfect deputy for him, etc)
But of course such early days for him – but we couldn’t have asked for more of a development at such a young age in of all places Poland
Also the Spurs podcasters have started to take notice and speak about him
Will be a monumental achievement to play himself into the Spurs senior squad in a couple of years (especially given young talent ahead of him) – but anything is possible – fingers crossed
theboyhotspur.com/tottenham-luka-vuskovic-solid-performance/
P.S. Mickey VDV scored his 1st goal at Tottenham stadium today (2nd of the season) – check it out – complete banger in top corner (the keeper didn’t even move)
…and this guy couldn’t get minutes at Hajduk?
Yea, I didn’t catch it at first…then I replayed it a few times.
Very good anticipation and timing on that slide tackle/block.
Lots of misinformation here about Gvardiol. First of all he was excellent for City the last 2 games at leftback. Second the goal was on Dias with terrible give away nothing to do with Gvardiol being aggressive. Third he was pulled at halftime as he had a slight injury which Pep said and probably because he had yellow for dissent.
Thank you for your service.
I never watched the game, but saw all the sites showing that Man City’s keeper and backline had a subpar game.
Was curious as to how much of it was actually Gvardiol’s fault.
Correct. Joško didn’t play bad. The back line “as a whole” got exposed several times, just like it has in many other games. The goal wasn’t Joško’s fault.
Adding to what CRO911 says…..I was at the Etihad for the game against Arsenal. Gvardiol was one of the best 2 or 3 players on the field……there is simply no question about it.
Second, of interest…..it is a great working class crowd at the Etihad, and it was good to hear those English Man City fans behind our two guys who both started the game….Where I was sitting, both Croatians had a lot of fan support and the fans around me had good things to say about both Gvardiol and Kovacic (when they yell and cheer them on they use their first names, they get good support).
Third, City played three games in seven days: (1) Arsenal, (2) Villa, (3) Crystal. Gvardiol started all three and played the entire first two. Given that context, perhaps we shouldn’t be too concerned about him being pulled halfway through the third game after that yellow.
Gvardiol pulled after 45 minutes
Crystal Palace were targeting him all half long
The Mateta goal is exemplary of Gvardiol weakness
He is “overly aggressive” in trying to close down his man (bc he knows he doesn’t have the pace to go 1 vs 1 with speedy wingers in the PL)
Than one two pass and into area Gvardiol just left (which is wide open)
Than Crystal player runs into the area
And 1-0
Exact same play against him as in Wales and Turkey games (Crystal Palace must have seen the tape of those games – everyone has at this point)
The really sad thing is Gvardiol took a silly – which look deliberate – yellow right at the end of first half to guarantee he gets taken off at half time
I don’t know what the solution is – but unless Gvardiol somehow improves his pace and gets faster how else he can solve this
Also – his link up play with Grealish on the left-side – going forward – left a lot to be desired – they just didn’t mesh well together at all
Honestly – we might want to start thinking about player Gvardiol in a more advanced midfield position – where he won’t have the same 1 vs. 1 defensive responsibilities – given he doesn’t seem to have the offensive prowess (creativity) to be a #10 – that leaves him the #8 or #6 positions
Were Ruben Dias and John Stones any better?
I missed the game, but every analytics site has the entire Man City backline and keeper rated very poorly.
Maybe good ol’ Gvardi is on the Gareth Bale trajectory and will become a winger for us in the future.
If Perisic can’t come back for the Euros, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Gvardiol play further forward. I can see Sosa still being benched and Gvardiol playing LB, but have all our left sided wing play come from him.
Also, to be fair, nobody really meshes with Grealish. He’s an overrated player who wouldn’t be where he is today if he wasn’t English.
How are gvardis crosses ?
I don’t see why we can’t play a back three of gvardi, erlic, stanisic
And have defensively minded offensive wingers
JJ on the right
I don’t know who on the left
Obviously this would have worked well with Perisic
If you had gvardi as a lb with a back 4
Gvardi, erlic, sutalo, stanisic
Broz
Luka, majer
Pjaca/orsic/Perisic
Budimir Alone in front
JJ/“M. Pasalic”, kramaric on the right
I realize it’s not laid out nicely to look at but this line up could be a good starting lineup for almost all three games
Maybe you have kova instead of majer against Spain and Italy for more control
Thoughts?
But I bet gvardi could slot in as a great defensive midfielder option to in the future if need. I think stanisic is said to also be capable of that kind of role I saw somewhere once
Dalic is a total shit..
He won’t get anything like that
inside his small brain >
Gvardiol as winger
Brozovic as LB
Kovacic #6
Modric #8
Baturina #10
😉
Are you on mushrooms?
