Josip Stanišić headed home a 97th minute corner kick to keep Bayer Leverkusen’s undefeated Bundesliga season alive in a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund. Stanišić flicked home the header from a tight angle to keep Leverkusen’s 45-game unbeaten run alive as they inch towards an “Invincibles” season in the Bundesliga with four matches remaining, ESPN reports. Leverkusen are slated to play Kaiserslautern in the German Cup Final May 25th and have already locked up the Bundesliga crown. They will also play Roma in the Europa League semifinals in the next month. Can they Treble?
Roko Šimić assisted Luka Sučić on RB Salzburg’s opening goal in a 4-2 victory over Austria Klagenfurt Sunday. Šimić fed a perfect short ball to a full speed Sučić in the box, who slotted home the easy finish. It is Sučić’s 1st Austrian Bundesliga goal of the season after missing 10 matches from knee injury/knee surgery recovery. He has only played in 17 league matches for RB Salzburg. Šimić now has a total of four goals, one assist in 23 matches for Red Bull this campaign.
Andrej Kramarić assisted on Hoffenheim’s opening goal Saturday in a 4-3 win over Borussia Monchengladbach. Krama received an impressive 8.8 rating from FOTMOB for his efforts. Kramarić has now tallied nine goals, three assists in 26 Bundesliga matches this season. Watch assist HERE.
Mateo Kovačić and Joško Gvardiol remained on the bench as unused subs in Manchester City’s 1-0 FA Cup semifinal win over Chelsea Saturday. City will face Manchester United in the Final May 25th.
Luka Modrić captained Real Madrid Sunday and played the full 90 minutes in what may be his last El Clasico. Real Madrid came from behind to defeat Barcelona 3-2. The win opens up an 11-point lead for Real Madrid on the La Liga table; all but ensuring another league title. Goal.com gave Modrić a solid 7/10 rating as he “Controlled things in central areas in what could be his last Clasico. Wonderful on the ball and shrewd defensively, too. It will be weird to watch these fixtures without him.”
Modrić to win another La Liga and CL?!
Getting enough minutes to be sharp for June in Germany for Croatia.
Our crew looks like they are all stepping up to ensure he just needs to play his role and not carry us though extra time non sense.
Do not underestimate the power of the Croatian presence in Germany.
It will be like being home.
Gvardiol at LB and Stanisic at RB?!
Oh my ..
Sučić coming back stronger.
My homer glasses seeing 20/20!!
Oh wow, did King Luka just captain Real Madrid to a dramatic win in el clasico… can’t wait to hear what you guys have to say.
And I notice Rijeka’s Toni Fruk just notched up another assist… has he like broken the HNL record?
Another header from one of our guys… here’s Igor Matanovic with his 13th goal of the season to put his team 2-1 up against Hertha Berlin just before halftime. Karlsruher won 3-2 in the end and moved up to 5th place in 2. Bundesliga

(video quality isn’t the best, sorry I couldn’t find something better)
He’s looking like great prospect for us.
Good on the HNS to cap him for our U21s.
Yeah good on HNS indeed, not only in spotting his talent but also in managing to persuade him to switch allegiance from Germany. Let’s hope HNS will continue their good work in scouting the diaspora.
kicker.de selected Igor as MOTM and had this to say about him (via Google translation):
“Extremely hard-working in defense, good passing game and a goal threat.”
Luka Sučić playing well is giving me hope for guys to be able to come back from knee injuries.
We need to keep an eye on Dinamo’s Luka Stojković (when he comes back).
He was looking like a great prospect before his injury. He is supposed to be back soon. Hopefully he continues to be impactful.

Stanisic saves Leverkusen’s streak.
Remember when Stanišić was only starting because of Africa Cup?
What happened to Davor, AZ, and the gang? They don’t post as much when our kids are playing well.
Loan steal of the season right there
I love it.
Great for stanisic career and confidence
I Always said I think he will pan out and I continue to think that
He should be above average contributor to the repka all said and done when finished
@Dannyj
I remember you predicting this would be Stanisic’s breakout season… to some degree I think your prediction has now come true. The guy really came into his own after the winter break.
I am focusing on players who may be in starting 11 but are not form currently.
We need these players to be on form. Erlic team seems to be conceding many goals recently for past games.
Sosa and sutalo and ivanusec..bench players..sutalo is a rotating player and is homesick.
Juranovic..bench player
Majer..recently been bench for a month despite scoring a few wks ago as a sub.
Pasalic…rotating player
Orsic..only play a few min each game..he needs to return to hnl to regain fitness.
Wow that’s incredible. 2nd big goal for Leverkusen. Svaka cast Josipe!👏
No Euros for Udogie
;-(
https://football-italia.net/italy-and-tottenham-star-udogie-reveals-injury/
Doesn’t weaken Italy though
Dimarco has been 1st choice at “LB”
Udogie would have been easier for us to play against (as you can get him flustered / get him to act rashly)
https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2024/03/26/national-media-now-think-unbelievable-tottenham-hotspur-player-is-actually-going-to-be-snubbed-for-euro-2024/
Maybe he knew he wasn’t going to get selected for the final squad and decided to have the surgery now so he’s back in time for Spurs pre-season
Notably Tottenham have put out that Udogie will do his rehabilitation with Spurs medical team in London (as opposed to travelling to Italy and doing it with Italian medical team)
It’s as big of a loss as us losing one of Stanisic or Juranovic.
It won’t heavily impact your starting eleven, but it definitely hurts your depth and takes away an option off the bench (if you need to make a strategic change).
For example…
Juranovic is weak defensively, so starting Udogie against us would have been a good tactical move for Italy (assuming Juranovic would be our starting RB). It’s never good news to lose an option like that.
Agreed – he brings Italy a completely different profile/dimension – that their other options (beyond DiMarco) don’t bring them
But I guess the difference is they have other options to step in for Udogie in that position – if we lose Stanisic or JJ – who is next in line for “RB” ? We don’t have anyone else
Erlic just watching the ball being played past him
No clearing out danger, no tackle, no nothing

Erlic taking a page from Erling this week.
Terrible first touch (no control)
Terrible strike (completely flubs it)
But worst is he strolls back for the re-start given they still down a goal
Whoever gave this guy a Croatia cap should be fired

Not a bad goal
lol
Musa such a failure in Dallas
Local Dallas press saying y’day was his 1st goal for the club
Don’t they remember the 5 yards off-side goal vs. Montreal ?

I hope you are at least entertaining yourself …
Under Wolfsburg’s new coach, it doesn’t look like Majer will be in the starting eleven but I really hope he gets more playing time in the remaining matches… wouldn’t be great if he went to Euros not playing or playing very little. Back when Kovac was in charge, I believe Majer had a good amount of playing time even if he didn’t start every match.
Circling back re: “M. Pasalic” and “Pasalic” for Marco and Mario jerseys
The Serbs were able to find a smart solution to identical problem, where we could not
“Vanja” and “Sergej” for the Milinković-Savić brothers on the jersey backs
And we’re being dumb dumbs coming up w/ “M. Pasalic” and “Pasalic”
It’s embarrassing – like we don’t have the IQ to come up w something logical
So I call on HNS to fix this ASAP for next fixture
i.e. “Marco” and “Mario” on jersey backs
Why don’t you just go onto serbiansports.com and support them instead. It sounds like you’re already a fan, and we won’t miss you here.
