Matija Frigan may have scored one of the best goals of 2025 Friday night in Westerlo’s 4-2 win over FCV Dender. It looked like something straight out of a FIFA video game. Frigan danced…ABSOLUTELY DANCED through four defenders before shooting right under the crossbar for the goal. He tip-toed and back-heeled in the box. It’s something you don’t see very often but take a look for yourself. Absolutely amazing display.
Ivan Perišić continued his fine form for PSV with a hat trick Saturday in a 4-1 victory over Fortuna Sittard. Perišić now has 14 goals and 10 assists in 36 matches this season (all competitions). Absolutely phenomenal from the 36 year-old winger who may be making a move to a bigger league this summer. We shall see. He is peaking for the right time for one last hurrah at the World Cup in 2026.
Both Mateo Kovačič and Joško Gvardiol started for Manchester City Friday night and had solid games in a 1-0 victory over Wolves. Both Croatians received a 7/10 grade from Manchester Evening News as he “Tried a few times to keep his goalscoring form going and even when that failed he was reliable alongside Silva.” Gvardiol was “In the right place to clear Ait-Nouri’s effort off the line and slotted in seamlessly at left-back in the second half.” With the win, City are on track to finish top-5 and book a Champions League berth for next season.
Luka Vuskovic going to Europa final !
He won’t have joined yet will he?
News is that another one from the Hajduk Camp, Orlić, is signing on with Dinamo. What is going on with Hajduk that they cannot retain their own players?? Is it a money thing or mismanagement.
Here is the article:
https://slobodnadalmacija.hr/sport/domaci-nogomet/daroviti-splicanin-i-bivsi-branic-hajduka-i-splita-potpisao-za-dinamo-1474130
That’s what happens when uhljeb rules the day. Hajduk management worries more about protecting their meal ticket then product on the field.
So the player selections have to be chosen by mid May to late May for the World Cup Qualifiers. I wonder if any changes will occur this time around.
I don’t like that Ancelotti is gonna be coaching Brazil, that leaves us at a disadvantage I think. He is great at managing personalities and a great tactician despite falling out with Real Madrid.
Dalic has his work cutout for him this time around, not that he hasn’t before. I wouldn’t try and sit back and just play it safe like he has been in the past.
I’m just piggybacking on earlier comments made throughout different posts on here. I think this time really needs to be the time that Dalic tries to integrate youth into the tournament, much more than he has been, or the team will be further behind.
Modrić for example is probably leaving Real Madrid with the change in coaching happening. Articles suggest the Arda Guler may be be taking the number 10 from him. Not confirmed of course, but it’s rumoured. The kid definitely wants it.
Not suggesting that Modrić gets the axe, I don’t think that it’s wise to do that, but Dalic has to look at some young prospects.
Why pick players that stay on the bench? Erlic never got the chance to come on in the last tournament, that seems like a waste to me when he could have called up Vusković instead, to at least cap him and try him out.
Plenty youth in the striking positions that could be making the difference as well. Frigan for example, in some of these articles, comes up frequently.
Plus we really do need an extra winger, aside from just Perišić alone. Oršić, Pjaca, Marco Pašalić….someone. I would even put Juranovic on the right wing, dude has a lot of depth and potential there, I think, despite being a right back. Juranovic always looks to be on the attack, I feel like it’s a natural position for him. This then gives Dalic other options for defense. You just need someone there for that 4-2-3-1 formation.
Just some thoughts.
What I would like is for Dalic to really consider the youth he calls up and for what purpose. The substitutes in the second game with France seemed pointless. Not as players, but there were no assigned roles and no clear vision for what they were doing on the field. It was just a matter of the I’m other players being tired, so a sub was needed.
Substituting for the sake of substituting is not answer to for anything.
So for example, who plays whom and why? That should be the question considered.
It’s one of Dalic’s worst traits.
He sequences his subs based on seniority.
Guys like Mario Pasalic and Nikola Vlasic get subbed in, regardless of who is coming off.
It could be a winger, midfielder, striker, defender…doesn’t matter.
Petar Sucic going to CL final !
not part of the squad mate

Dalic – so what’s right (not what’s lazy)
An article on Vlašić on the Italian paper:

Ivanovic win back 1st place (which would give direct CL)
Last 3 matches vs bottom of table teams
Niko 4-0 Wolfsburg now 4th place (sorry Maminjo)
O DINAMOOOOOO, MI VOLIMOOOO!!!
It would be funny if Dinamo and Hajduk draw today!! Lol. That would make this HNL season more interesting!
Frigan is 22 y.o.
Without exaggeration
This goal is BETTER than Zlatan’s Breda 2004 goal (when Zlatan was also 22 y.o., signed for Juve the next day, and has said himself it was the best goal of his career)
***.fourfourtwo.com/features/zlatan-ibrahimovic-nac-breda-ajax-2004-solo-best-goal-retold-van-der-vaart
Frigan’s goal is more impressive as it’s from the wing so there is much less options/room/space to maneuver towards the goal and thus easier to defend from opponent perspective (vs. down the middle Zlatan could go left, could be right, etc)
Sunderland must be kicking themselves – they tried signing Frigan in January (obligation to buy 15m if promoted to PL (they are in play-offs) but didn’t want to agree obligation to buy 9m if stay in Championship)
To finish the point – based on this goal – think Frigan deserves more than Championship football next year – would be cool if Sunderland got promoted and they sign him to play in the PL next year
Lastly – don’t forget – T*ttenham have scouts at most Westerlo games – as they have both Vuskovic and Alfie Devine on loan there (both of whom also played y’day) – would be a funny if he caught the eye of T*ttenham scouts 😎
Pandur 1-1 Pompey – Hull finish 21st and stays up !
Norwich 4-2 Cardiff (Crnac back from injury unused sub) – Norwich finish 13th
10 EDT Sevelj starts vs. Hibernian
14:45 EDT Ivanovic vs Gent (to regain 1st position)
And lastly
***.agenzianova.com/en/news/serbia-vucic-i-will-be-in-usa-in-early-may-i-will-probably-see-trump/
Mr. T doesn’t meet with Vucic “2-3 times in 2-3 days” as previewed by Vucic – instead he sends Rudy – so Vucic pretends he’s sick and flies back to Belgrade asap ?
Bhahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahaha
I think that most English fans at Man City don’t even understand the value of Kovačić, or even Gvardiol, on their squad. So to be honest looking at their grades doesn’t really give a true picture of the worth of a player. They base everything solely on goals scored, yet neither player is a striker. They barely look at defensive contribution or ball retention so I don’t know how accurate their grading is, or what it’s really worth.
