Joško Gvardiol played 75 minutes and assisted in Man City’s 4-1 win over Palace Friday night. He came off the pitch for substitute Mateo Kovačić. Gvardiol was given a 7/10 grade from Manchester Evening News as he “Spent large chunks of the game near the Palace box and worked well with Semenyo in the final third.” Kova didn’t have much to do in the 15 minutes he was on the pitch with City holding a 2-goal lead. City are now perfect through the first two match of the season with Gvardiol already bagging a goal + assist in that span.

Hey @A Tin U, I went to have a detailed look at Majer’s stats and watched highlights of AEK vs Levski after reading your comment. Seems like he is in form and having a good start to the season. It’s great that he gets to play CL football… is it his first time since leaving Dinamo I wonder. I guess he’s still good enough to play for the repka and if he continues to be in form and starts regularly for AEK, yes why not call him up. Btw, with regard to Jagusic, I agree with someone’s comment here (is it Cro911?)… if he continues to struggle for playing time at PAO, he needs to leave during winter. Enough time wasted there already.
And oh yes, congrats to Hrgovic and Hajduk!!

I think Majer can help the NT this fall, maybe starting one game in the midfield and also coming off the bench in relief as we have four games in such a tight time frame.
I don’t know what has happened with Jagusic. He was getting starts and a good amount of playing time, and then suddenly things seem to have changed. I, too, agree with those who want a winter transfer, if it doesn’t turn around.
Hrgovic is extremely well spoken and intelligent (despite just getting knocked in the head a billion times)

Mlačić not even on the bench today against Udinese (despite being healthy). Our other young CBs (Pavić, Puljić, Mijatović, Kumar) are also not getting first team ball yet (too soon I suppose).
None of Duje, Pongračić, or even Šutalo will likely be fit for our Nations League matches. Pongračić played today at least, but not very well and was subbed off. Prpić also hasn’t played for Porto yet, and Erlić hasn’t been starting for Midtylland lately.
We have a bit of a timeline gap between our young talented CBs, and our older untalented ones.
With Vušković playing well, and Gvardiol likely being played at LB, we will have a CB problem. Hopefully Bilić tries the two of them together as a CB pairing.
Be prepared to use Stanišić on the left side if you need to…and call up Šimun Hrgović for depth. This is what I would do.
Disappointed with the start that Mlacic is getting this season so far. I thought he ended last season on a fairly promising note. I really thought he was primed to get some starts and step it up . . . but still early, lets see what the season brings.
This CB concern is strange because CBs were not our concern as we were discussing the back line over the past several months, even fairly recently it was not a concern.
Now it seems the situation has somewhat shifted.
Maybe right now, we do have to look at Gvardiol where you always said he should be, that is have him play at CB, and then we have to maybe shift Stani over to left back as he can play on the right or left, and JJ and Smolcic are perhaps two candidates to come in and help out Stani as outside defenders.

Looked him up. 26-year-old Croatian, seems to be well travelled, played for Dinamo, and in Germany, and in the Ukraine league.
He gets a starting position in a top five league this season, which is nothing to sneeze at, and is unfortunately then injured right out of the gate. A shame. Hopefully not a serious injury.
