Andrej Kramarić became Hoffenheim’s single season goal record holder (19) when he scored inside five minutes of a 1-1 draw against Arminia Bielefeld Saturday. Krama now owns the single season record for goals at Hoffenheim as well as all-time goals: 75. Sejad Salihović sits in a distant second at 46 goals. Not a bad career in Germany since coming over from Leicester in 2016; where he wasn’t given an opportunity to shine. Krama is red hot four weeks away from Croatia’s match with England.
Mario Pašalić bagged another goal this weekend in Atalanta’s 4-3 win over Genoa. The win ensures that Atalanta will once again see Champions League football next season. Pašalić joins Rebić, Budimir, Brekalo, and Kramarić with multiple goals in the last seven days. You can’t ask much more from the Croatian internationals heading into EURO 2021.
Croatia striker Ante Budimir did all he could on Sunday to help out Real Madrid and Luka Modrić inch closer to a La Liga title shot. In the 75th minute, Budimir’s header barely crossed the line to beat Atletico goal keeper Jan Oblak. However, Atletico would score twice in the final 10 minutes of the match to seal a 2-1 victory. If Atletico win their final game of the season next weekend, they will be crowned Spanish champions. Šime Vrsaljko remained on the bench as an unused substitute. Luka Modrić and Real Madrid defeated Athletic Bilbao 1-0 to remain two points behind Atletico. Budimir on fire this week is a good problem to have going into EURO. Could Dalić use him as a point man up top against Czech and Scotland the way he’s been playing?
Josip Brekalo, Marin Pongračić and Wolfsburg booked their ticket to the Champions League next season after a 2-2 draw against RB Leipzig Sunday. Neither Croatian played in the match and Brekalo could be on the move this summer after EURO. Stay tuned.
Mateo Kovačić was supposed to return from his thigh injury on Saturday but didn’t end up making the Chelsea squad. Chelsea lost 1-0 to Leicester City in the FA Cup Final and have two Premiership matches remaining this week before the Champions League Final against Manchester City in Portugal on May 29th.
Euro player list is out. Great news that Gvardiol is on it! With the U21 tournament it’s tough to integrate all the guys but overall im pleased with what Dalic put out. Now he just has to put the right combinations out on the field. What good is it if we trot out Vida and Lovren against England. DCC is a must starter and i have a good feeling we will see him in the lineup that first game.
I don’t want to drink too much Kool-Aid but with player form right now it’s easy to be optimistic. Hopefully Vlasic comes back strong.
No real surprises considering this is an expanded list.
A lot of the standby callups are better than the actual callups.
Moro, Majer, Basic, and Pongracic are all better than players like Badelj or Skoric.
Good to see Gvardiol and Ivanusec in the actual callup list, but I don’t think it means anything. They likely won’t play anything more than a few minutes of injury time.
I think Dalic is pretty set in his starting lineup. We just have to pray that the less talented veterans (Vida, Lovren, Barisic) play over their heads and don’t have to rely on Modric or Brozovic having to play sweeper all the time to account for their deficiencies.
I understand Badelj over Basic since he’s in the form of his life. Pongracic also hasn’t played in MONTHS so it’s understandable.
Wolfsburg resting a healthy brekalo yesterday after bagging 3 last weekend seems peculiar…I’m assuming a transfer has been agreed upon and they don’t want a fluke injury screwing things up?
Luka Modric — 8.5: Nacho might be the man of the match but without Toni Kroos, Modric pulled the strings in the midfield alone tonight and carried the team. Finished with two shots, 94 per cent pass completion, one aerial won, four key passes, three tackles. Try 35 years young.
With vida winning a championship and scoring and playing decent this year he will probably start
Lovren being lovren and being vidas boy will start
CC I’m thinking will have to wait till after euros unless they really mess up
I just hope after this tourney they let the reigns go
But as I said before seeing as World Cup is next year and how we are already in qualifying… I fear both may stay on
Don’t worry. When Caleta-Car is 29, he will be able to start his first tournament.
Toni Kukoc elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame by the International Comittee.
Ya think?! Fuckin took long enough
We complain about the supposed corruption of the Croatian league but nothing beats SERIE A.
What a shit show how Perisic gets called for a phantom penalty at the end so Juve can stay in the race for a champions league spot.
An absolute disgrace but Ivan handled it with class though everyone knew he was jobbed.
Brozo getting red carded is a blessing it keeps him fresh and injury free going into the euros.
Corruption in Croatian nogomet is pretty standard. It’s neither more or less than any of the western FAs.
Serie A and even Belgium’s Jupiler league are worse than HNL for corruption.
The issue is that Croatians have greater youth unemployment and lower monthly salaries than these western countries, so people associate the league corruption with their frustrations related to their own employment situation.
It’s the reason why Borna Sosa got some support from people in the comments section of a lot of those articles, with comments like “Svaka mu cast!” implying that Croatia is corrupt and you should always move to greener pastures. However, football employment is not the same as real world employment. Our fans are trying to hold the HNS to a higher standard than these other countries, because they have a short fuse for any sort of corruption already (due to their own financial issues).
This Euro will be about depth.
We seem to finally be going into a major a tournament with depth in attack.
Who compliments Modrić and Rebić?
Valverde comes in at Real Modrić and Luka magically looks refreshed.
Modrić needs to play forward for us and have ZERO defensive duties.
He also needs to be surrounded by speed and industry.
This is why Rebić is the ultimate Modrić support.
But at LW Rebić has become pivotal in his own right.
Brekalo is first on the list in the Modrić/Rebić compliment movement has he can dribble and create in the space that is opened up by M/R.
Perišić is right there as he is athletic and two footed and knows how to play and when in the mood is world class. Plus he fresh from winning yet another title.
Brozovic legs and lungs.
Kovačić speed.
Pašalić presence.
Budimir beast mode size.
Kramaric the finisher off the bench against tired legs.
Vida scored today and Besiktas are champd.
Krama is not going to score at the euros because Perisic will get angry at him every time krama touches the ball
It will kill his confidence
I wonder if krama would be close to lewandowski if playing for Bayern
Dude puts up goals/selfish or not
Lewa’s overrated.
Gerd would score 50 with that team. He’d put up Messi/Ronaldo in their prime type numbers
Good job Leicester!
Chelsea was robbed
This VAR has been a total gong show. If I recall, it was supposed to be used to correct egregious errors. I think the rule should be amended in several ways:
1. Do not display the line that indicates where the attacker is in relation to the last defender.
2. Do not use slow motion. All replays in real time.
3. Allow the official to see the best replays 2 or 3 times. If it is not obvious, then offside should not be called.
Possibly. Pretty surprised they called it back. Schmeichel was awesome and Chelsea needed to put out a more attack minded lineup

I met him back in the day at MSG during the big east tournament, while he was scouting for the Houston Rockets.
Super cool dude.
We spoke about the state of the HKS. He said they weren’t interested in his support.
I guess a Hall of Fame Coach had nothing to add to our mediocre HKS? Sve znaju ..
We need to produce a Dončić or Jokic.
Bogdanović is our only guy right now who is a legit NBA starter.
Petrović, Kukoč and Radja would light up this new era of 4 out and shoot threes basketball.
Dražen would have played his natural lead point guard role. Kukoč was the ultimate guard forward. Radja would have been that do it all stretch 4.
Drazen was a legend before he even entered the NBA then proved to everyone he was the real deal in a very short time against difficult circumstances in the NBA. Drazen was a once in a lifetime player. The Croatian Jordan. His Passion and work ethic are unmatched. He was the man. Kukoc was ahead of his time and was A perfect fit for championship Bulls. Thank God and credit to Kukoc and Drazen for Representing Croatia and being the pioneers of European players making their mark In the Nba and laying the groundwork for International players to this day.
Kukoc was underrated.
His game and Luka Doncic’s game are identical.
But in the 90s…you had to get offensive rebounds, play 1-on-1 defense, deal with hand-checking and get mauled by the Anthony Masons waiting for you in the paint.
Doncic would have gone through the exact same thing Kukoc went through in the 90s, and probably would’ve been more of a championship sixth man instead of league MVP himself.
