America’s most popular celebrity news website, TMZ, published photos of a speedo-clad Darijo Srna as he vacationed in Barbados this week. The Croatian national soccer team captain is currently on winter break from his club Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine. Is Srna that well known worldwide that America’s #1 paparazzi website would follow him and put him in the same ‘soccer-stud’ category as Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham? Or are Americans not used to seeing men in speedos?
Ladies, what do you think?
-Story first broke on CroatianSports.com by ‘Croatian Crippler’
haha Ziva, I agree, welcome to America
Not me, I rather associate with the rapists and murderers…..they throw better parties. And as long as I’m not being killed or being violated up my popper scooper, then life is good.
Yes. That’s my point. It’s extremely difficult in even the best of countries to take away that degree of power from a few individuals. This does not make a Croat any worse than, for example, a Frenchman in the same position.
But, the EU had nothing to do with Sanader’s indictment. Sure, they wanted Croatia to crack down on corruption, but they never called Sanader out as one of the perps. It’s funny because they had no problem negotiating with Sanader on the EU’s entry before he quit. Nigel Farage is probably right when he accused the EU of bribing high ranking officials in EU candidate countries like Croatia. But this has little to do with what I am arguing, and we can argue this until the cows come home.
But I will always stand by what I said before…
I’d rather associate with people who fix soccer matches than rapists and murderers. I think you would too.
Anyways as I said previously there’s good, bad, and ugly. Argument is really going anywhere. You win!
Hrvatska was forced into outing guys due to pressure by the EU, without the EU Sanader would still be f***** the country. The same criminals that were running the communist government are running the “captialism” government. That’s the problem!
Pfft. That level of corruption is always a byproduct of transitioning from communism to capitalism. It’s no coincidence that all former communist countries have the worst corruption index scores.
At least Croats are outing guys like Sanader. Why won’t the Hungarian govt do the same to the chairman of MOL on the other side of that illegal deal? Look at the corrupt politicians in the EU. Look at Berlusconi, LOL. That guy can do anything he wants out in the open. He’s an untouchable.
There are crooks in every country, and yes as you said, a crime is a crime. But I’d rather associate with people who fix soccer matches than rapists and murderers.
haha yea it his little brother, my fault Ivo, smart ass!
Quesion is Evo Sanader related to Ivo Sanader? Are they cousins? Is he related to Tivica Racan?
Again Ivica,
I don’t know if your talking about in the diaspora or not. Croatia is a very corrupt country. You my friend are uniformed if you think that you need to be raping and murdering in order to be committing crimes, the criminals in croatia are leading the country right now, and that is why croatia is in the situation its in. Again, I can give you a laundry list of corrupt figures, yes they count as criminals. Evo Sanader is a criminal. Unlike a murdered, he F***** the whole country!
@Harrison…….I have no clue if you are from Chicago or not. I really don’t care. Actually, if I did say that in Chicago I would be saying it with serbs and muslims present and next to the hrvati. Bratsvo Jedinstvo is full effect in that city.
Ziva Istina…….singing Evo Zore, Evo Dane long before 1991 and continuing to do so.
@ Anonymous
Again. You’re going off topic.
My argument is to de-bunk the notion that many on this thread claimed as Croats being a shady people with all the “crime” they are responsible for (yet using weak examples to justify it).
When compared to other peoples and races, Croats are high on the quality scale.
We are a very critical people, and this blatant pessimism we see here comes with that critical mentality. But at the same time, this critical mentality is probably responsible for the general success that Croats have when they immigrate to other countries, as a result of always being dissatisfied and pushing for more and more. Look at our football team. Our competitive match record is amazing (especially when you compare them to the players we’ve fielded in the past). We’ve qualified for all but two tournaments, where we missed out on those ones by a single point each. We’ve lost one game on home soil in our history, and it’s the end of the world, lol.
As for your drugs comment, please. Sure, like EVERY city in the world that has any social nightlife, there are drugs. But unlike Dalmacija, you can’t walk down the street anywhere in Spain or Italy without being harassed by some Moroccan to buy drugs from them. It’s relentless. The drugs in Croatia don’t compare to what it’s like in most parts of the world.
This is what I will say about Chicago, as I was born there and can attest to.
I went to my cousin’s wedding in Chicago/Skokie last month and towards the end of the night (after my 12th Jameson), I asked the band to play Evo Zore, Evo Dana. The response I got was “the bands in Chicago have an agreement not to play anything political.” When asked why, their basis was that “many other ethnic groups, including serbs, come to Croatian events in Chicago and we don’t want to ruin their fun either by playing anything political.” Needless to say if that wasn’t my cousin’s wedding, I would’ve walked out. Does that not speak volumes to any of you? Come on Class of 91ers, show yourselves if it does not.
100 comments!!! Where’s TheGooooooldenChild’s drunk video?
@Ziva Istina
Serb and muslim-loving croats in chicago? What are you getting at? Try come say that in chi-town youll get your fro knocked off you little flake.
I know you directed that at me, but you better watch your mouth.
@IvicA
Drugs flowed like wine when i was in croatia. Met some snakey muthaf*@#ers aswell, especialy in zagreb and split.
Even the greeks and italians look after their fellow countrymen more than the croats.
Croatians look after themselves first and see how they can out do their fellow croatians in terms of success/jobs.
2:30 am here in San Pedro….. I will jump into this conversation tomorrow, some great minds at work.

Sometimes you dont know what you have until its gone my friend.
IvicA
Only few names on this site are full names (you signing your name or traveling the world doesn’t give you credibility). I have my reasons to post as Anonymous which I do not want to share.
Once more, I do not think that Croatians are bed people, criminals of any kind or the worst nation in the world. They are not united as they should and can be.
At my work, I see Filipinos helping Filipinos , Mexicans helping each other, and others. Croatian people do not help each other find the job (for only reason they are Croatian) or help them in any way they can. Excluding their family and closest friends, they are not very helpful to other Croatians (not everybody but in general).
This is what I saw and what I experienced. Everybody has their stories and their opinions, and I stand behind mine.
@Ivica,
I my friend can speak Croatian, and go back often, all of my family lives over there. If you want we can have a conversation in croatian, doesn’t matter to me either or. The diaspora is a far different community than the Hrvati in the the homeland. I would say its safe to say that the diaspora is still stuck in the 90’s, utlra-nationalism, still voting for HDZ. I’m ok with this, just pointing out there is a huge difference between the hrvati here and there. I don’t have enough digits on my body to count all of the criminals in croatia. There may not be a bunch of murders and rapes, but there is a bunch of shady shit still going on, ex. match fixing, Sanader, Mesic, HDZ party, everyone involved in politics, the Croatian mafia. If you think tourist aren’t taken advantage of ur mistaken. I agree with you that the country is very safe, but it also has more than a fair share of problems. The Drugs are there, thats a good thing you don’t know about them, it probably means that you don’t do them. I believe that the most together the disapora was, was during the war and ever since there has been a decline. Somewhat makes sense to me, I’m am positive that if another war were to occur the communities would get together even stronger. Whats most important to me is that we don’t loose our identity, were a small country, with a small diaspora. We can’t compare with the Jews, they are huge in numbers, unlike Ziva, I believe that even if your 25% Croatian, your Croatian if you believe in the culture, language, religion and country. Were strong in numbers and we can use any numbers we can get. My 2 cents, volim te hrvatsko!
@ Ziva
There’s a difference between not speaking the language well, and not knowing where the country is on a map.
I know some Croats here that have bad accents and struggle to speak it, but they go there occasionally, follow the sports, and hang out with the diaspora. Then again, I even still consider guys like David Diehl and George Cuvalo as Croats, even though they suck at speaking the language and have only been to Cro once.
@Ivica…….I’ll disagree with you on that one. I think you have to be able to speak croatian to be called or considered a croatian. If not, then they are the same as these italians running the US who claim to be Italian and couldn’t find the boot on the map.
P.S. No offense to any Croats here that cannot speak Croatian. It’s not a prerequisite to being a Croat.
I go to Croatia a lot, and have met many diaspora Croats from different parts of the world. I was just trying to show that my rants were not baseless.
@ Anonymous
I go to Croatia every summer and I even have a Croatian passport. I’m not your typical diaspora Croat who talks big, yet cannot speak the language. Unlike you, I’m also not afraid to put my name in my message posts as well.
Hustled in Cro? Please. Try travelling to “civilized” places like France, England, or Italy. That’s where you’ll get hustled for everything and anything. You can’t even swim in their beaches without paying for it.
Why do you think Croatia keeps growing in tourism every year? Is it THAT much more beautiful than places like Greece and Turkey? Or is it that they get real value with their food and accommodation in addition to the overall safety of the country. And don’t say it’s because Croatia is a poor country. There are plenty of poorer countries that could offer you “value” as well. Try vacationing in a place like Brazil, like I did. You’ll wish you were in Cro every day that you’re there.
As for your St. Anthony Church example…
Again, if you actually read my rants above, you’ll see that Croatians are not immune to assimilation. That’s what’s going on here. Avoiding assimilation is not as important as being a quality individual. Take my prior suggestion, and list out all the criminal Croats you know in your community and count it against the amount in other communities.
You can rant all you want about the “stories” you hear about drugs rolling around Dalmacija (lol), or you can actually do an analysis with your own eyes and brain.
@poglavnik…….don’t forget crook (note sarcasm here for those who can’t comprehend)…….I kid because I care.
nice dialogue back and forth, good read. Listen, there are good and bad people in every community. Even those serb and muslim-loving hrvati in Chicago have some good ones (note, no sarcasm here….that be the truth)
It’s all about what you do to make things better.
I post a picture of Srna in his panties and look at the discussion we get from it…all great stuff boys. This was my plan all along 🙂
Lebo,
you bring up a great point. For the most part, we are all adults on this site (at least who post regularly). With careers, girlfriends, family, wives and kids, we can’t all pull off the every weekend hanging out and bullshitting with our Croatian friends from high school anymore. It’s just not in the cards….the way life is.
However, look at all the passion and insight we have had in the past 4 years from CSR and now CroatianSports. Look at the personalities that have come to life. Look at the relationships that have been formed.
If you ask me, this website has become more than just posting on soccer or Croatian sports, but in some new age way…it has become the new ‘Dom’…where Croatians can gather and talk their passion with fellow Hrvati..on their own time and from their own house….no matter where they are in the world.
I’m just trying to grow this website as big as possible. If we all stop bitching at each other over man-panties, take a step back and look at what we’ve ALL been a part of during the last 4 years…we would all see that there’s something special going on here. Every member, hated or loved, is an integral part of this website…
That’s my 2 cents…
CSR did bring me closer to Hrvati though. When I became somewhat of a black sheep at the church, I didn’t really know what to do. I went to San Pedro for a poker night and ended up meeting Ante K. I introduced myself as the GOLLLDENN CHILD and a friendship struck up from there. From that point on, I was always talking to the hrvati that played nogomet. If it’s one thing, nogomet is what always brought me back. Whether it was playing for LA or playing for CSR.
We may not be as United as we were in the 90’s, but like has been stated before, things do change. Now that we have adapted to the culture here, we’ve taken our own paths in life. I still talk to my buddies every once and awhile, but the thing that keeps me most connected is the hrvati I meet through here and playing soccer at tournaments in San Jose, LA, Pedro, Arizona, etc.
If we didn’t support each other, then you all wouldn’t be here.
For 2012, I just ask that you all have a little more positive outlook on things. LIke Ante B said, the truth does need to be spoken sometimes, and a little kick in the nuts isn’t bad. But I find this site as another outlet to speak to hrvati, since I can’t be on a pitch or go on trips to tournaments anymore.
/stepping off soapbox
I’m from Los Angeles, so whoever Anonymous is I get what you’re saying. My major problem with the hrvati community out here is all the gossip. I know it’s everywhere else too, but when you’re so close with a community stuff tends to spread like wildfire. I think I had enough when I took my first croatian girl out on a date. I only told my cousin about the date on Friday. By Sunday, everybody knew.
The other problem with LA is the people who run that church. I’m just going to see that a lot of people have left ever since somebody took charge there. Enough about that.
The youngsters in LA seemed to be pretty well banded together. Each generation does their own thing, and as the previous generations get older, people tend to go in diff directions. In a place like LA, you have a lot of other temptations tugging you every which way.
My story is that I told myself I’d never leave my friends. Sadly enough, that didn’t come true. Just like other friends I’ve had in the past, my Croatian friends and I grew farther apart once I moved to college. Since I didn’t see them every weekend, it became harder and harder to keep tabs as we were doing totally different things with our lives. I still talk to a lot of them, but when it comes to getting together it’s not something that either parties really get after.
I am a Hercegovac!
Let me add soldier, and athlete, to fisherman, and house builder as well!
@IvicA
I want to give you one interesting information. St. Anthony Church in Los Angeles had a New Year Eve celebration for years. Not long ago, they expanded the gala room to accomodate close to five hundred people. It was full year after year. Last year, I do not think there was two hundred people. This year: BIG ZERO.
We have a war between veliki hrvati and, more than one bad name hrvati.
Croatian kings couldn’t put us together; I do not think this site can. That doesn’t mean that Croatians are bad people, but it is ZIVA ISTINA that WE ARE NOT UNITE OR SUPPORTIVE OF EACHO THER.
@ Ivica
Dude, have you ever spent any time in Croatia. I think you are blind.You follow the politics? You watch Severina’s sex tape? Have you seen the Croatian models in Playboy? Have you seen the drugs rolling thru dalmacija? Like I said before there is good bad and ugly. And yes Croatians are the best in my eyes cause I’m Croatian but u will get husled in Cro if you think everyone’s your friend cause your a Croat.
Poglavnice,
I think you’re referring to Dalmatinci (fishermen) and Hercegovci (construction) only in that statement.
I thought Hrvati were only allowed to fish or build houses?
@ Denis Svircic
What you hear from Croats from other parts of the U.S. are all just stories. They do the same in Croatia too. Oni samo “kukaju”. It’s become so common, that Croats have a term for it. It’s just a creative form of complaining.
As for LA having cash bars and a Croatian community that might not be as closely knit as others….well that’s just the inevitability of assimilation. Croatians are more westernized immigrants than the ones that you mentioned (Asians, Jews, Mexicans, and South Americans). You also have to consider that the LA Croatian community population size PALES in comparison to the amount of Mexicans, Jews, and Asians that are living in California. This is probably the primary reason for them appearing so much more “closely knit” to one another than LA Croats are. Another huge reason is because these types of other immigrants you listed have a greater difficulty functioning in American society than Croats do. The Language barrier alone is HUGE. Asians and Mexicans are arguably the most moronic and unwordly people in the world. They have extreme difficulty grasping simple Western-mentality concepts, not to mention learning a new language. You go to Croatia, everyone knows five languages. You get the biggest farmer coming over to Toronto from Hercegovina, and the guy picks up the language and a new trade in six months. We have Asians and Mexicans who are BORN HERE who have accents and fail English classes, lol.
My whole point is not so much about Croats losing their nationality, but rather, the QUALITY of people they are. Based off of the earlier posts in this thread, I was surprised to hear you guys all conceding that Croats are “shady” and of poor character, and using poor examples like the Macedonian mafia pulling a scam on the Croatian Credit Union in Cleveland or some stupid small time match fixing cases that hurts nobody but gamblers. This the is worst you can come up with to justify your point? Really?
Do you know any Croats who raped or murdered anyone? Count up the figures, and now compare that to the Portuguese, Serbs, Italians, Spanish people who have committed the same crimes in your city. I think there was one Croat who went nuts in Toronto and shot himself and his family. That was the biggest story for us here, but the ONLY story of a grave crime. Now if I count how many Serbs in Toronto have murdered or raped anyone, I already know of three cases that were in the news in the past 10 years. Same goes for Italians and Portguese…and these are the better immigrant nations. If I start counting the cases involved with Asians, Mexicans and Jamaicans, my calculator would explode.
Fact is, Croats are a high quality people. Strong morals and loyalty to their family. They are conservative in the way they conduct themselves, and are a desirable people to be involved with due to their hospitality and culture. Both guys and girls see Croats as the ultimate marriage material people. Even that new HBO series “Game of Thrones” (which is filming season 2 in Duborvnik) is having serious trouble trying to find a girl to play a prostitute, LOL. They have to go to Montenegro and Kosovo to find “actresses” to play the role since no Croatian girls want to take their tops off. Girls suck cock in pretty much any country in the world to get a small time TV role, and these poor producers can’t even find a Croatian girl to take it off for an HBO blockbuster series?

@ Kristina Istina
You’d better take a photo of that Croatian Janitor Uncle of yours. He’s a unicorn.
Eh. I don’t think a whole article was needed to talk about Srna’s popularity.
Like Denis Svircic said about the article on Klasnic’s divorce,
“Here is why I posted this. Something like this could effect a player’s footballing career. Ivan could be all tore up psychologically. Lets see how this effects him on the pitch this weekend. As far as if he’s married, divorced, gay, cheater, etc etc… thats his private life and I could care less what he does. All I care about is if he is capable of scoring goals for Croatia.”
Therefore, it was OK to post such an article, for it could be connected to his mental health in case he drops his soccer performance.
This? I don’t see Srna getting better/worse in soccer because his popularity is surprisingly high to TMZ.
It’s for a good laugh and interest, but it should just stay in the comments section. He needs his privacy. Besides, posting such a frivolous article undermines much that Croats do: I highly doubt that this should get more positive attention on this site than Kostelic winning another title (on this site).
Croats have done much in sports and other subjects, and this article should come as a shock not to us, but to people who came “accidentally” to this site.
No.
A link, fine but not the entire travesty of an article. Am I right?
Ante B
Fun fact. Wasn’t crippler the guy that posted the original link to TMZ? I’m just saying.
A glec, istina je bolna. Nije svijet all rainbows ili gentle snowflakes. Ako ja osobno imam nekaj protiv, ja cu pisat moje misljenje, svidjelo se njima, vama ili ne. Uostalom, imam pravo na to jer sam na ovom siteu od ohoho. Idemo dalje.
Sretan Bozic i vama, odoh ja uskoro u LA

Pusti, idemo dalje.

Lebo,
Don’t forget pictures of genitalia from all the players either. Even Monte Ellis is jealous of the coverage.
Anonymous,
O cemu ti pricas? Ak’ nekaj vrijedi, ja sam prvi koji to priznaje. Pogledaj npr Croatian Crippler. Covjek zasluzi svaku pohvalu i to sam mu priznal najmanje deset puta.

@Ziva Istina, just checked and someone already has the twitter name @ZivaIstina
@Ziva Istina
You, my friend, are WINNING!!!!
Pretty surprised some of these new cats are so hostile towards your postings. They obviously dont know your style. If they stick around long enough they’ll realize you’re one of the better ones on this site. You didn’t clean up at the awards for nothing!
I can always count on you Ante, you seem to get “it”.
And just because I plan on bringing the show to twitter, I want to make sure that all of you are aware that I will still be bringing quality, original thoughts and ideas to this website.
Ziva, please have your first tweet be about Dario Srna’s jajce as it’s apparently newsworthy. Please don’t forget to tweet about Rakitic’s šupak as well since it appears to be commonplace now.
@Harrison……….dragi, that is four posts now that you have written about me in the last 24 hours. If I didn’t know any better, I would think you have a secret crush on me. Dobro, svaki svoj!
I plan on taking my act/show/musings/commentary eventually to twitter. I encourage many of you to follow me at @Ziva_Istina Eventualy, I will begin tweeting. Think of it as my gift to some of you for Bozic.
Ima samo jedna istina, i to je Ziva Istina.
This site brings the lolz. I love it. And hey IvicA, you never met a Croatian janitor? Come meet my uncle.
Lol. Mihovil. Absolutely not.
@Harrison Gent
I respect that. I’m happy that people speak their mind. If we had a bunch of sheep then things would get boring.
@Golden nuts
What is there to hate? i dont even know the guy, so how can i hate him?
I dont appreciate how he conducts himself through his posts, but thats it.
Hate is something you save for your enemies, and i dont see him as an enemy. He is unimportant to me, he is nothing to me, i couldnt care less about him.
@TheGoldenChild
Am I supposed to be the hater in this scenario? Wowzer! LOL !!!!
@Ziva istina
Oh believe me, i am not hooked on your posts. You may have had me reply to one of your posts, okay twice now, but im definitely not invested.
I replied because i felt something needed to be said, unlike some of sheep that you have wrapped around your finger. I stand up to shitheels like yourself.
And if you view it a success because i replied to your post, hey you can have you little victory, im guessing you dont have too many in life going by that remark.
And can you please stop refering to yourself in the third person. It makes you sound like a 4 year old or some type of retard.
“Remember Harrison……..samo je jedan Ziva Istina.”
One too many if you ask me.
@Denis Svirčić
I feel where you coming from, but sometimes its not worth sitting through one of his tirades for said information, theres only so much one can take from some snooty little worm.
I like Ziva’s post. I always seem them as satirical and something that is maybe 20% serious. The guy has some confidence…whatever.
My feelings on the matter:

@Ziva Istina
Self-praise is no recommendation.
Keep up the good work as this place would not be the same without you.
Sretan Božić
By the way Penzija and Ziva Istina are not the same person, but I know who Penzija is. He is a friend who reads the website and likes to screw around with me.
so let me get this straight. A poster going by the name of “Harrison Gent” wants to question why I post behind a moniker.
I guess I should have used the sarcasm key when I wrote the previous post.
Hey, in all honesty, I got you hooked and invested into my postings. You replied……..so I win; another win for Ziva Istina.
Some of you guys may like what I post, while others do not. I’m cool with that. I’ll let the guys who run this site be the judge. There have been plenty of times I have posted items where there was no mention of said item in the cro public until a few days later or still has not been mentioned. So, just for this moment, I will speak about my ego. I like this site, i like commenting about cro sports/politics/etc., and I know more than what gets reported in the cro media because of past experiences/jobs/contacts.
I’ll keep posting because its what you guys want and more importantly its what many of you need. I like everything about this site except organized afterschool fight club news (or MMA as you refer to it).
Remember Harrison……..samo je jedan Ziva Istina.
@Harrison,
Funny stuff.
I don’t get how some of you are so sensitive to Ziva’s “arrogant” comments. I take what I find informative and/or interesting and the rest I just brush under the rug. I might agree with all of this: “I have never read a more arrogant, self loving, delusional, full of himself poster in my life.” But that doesnt bother me one bit. I pick and choose what I want to keep from every comment.
@Ziva istina
Who in the hell do you think you are? I have never read a more arrogant, self loving, delusional, full of himself poster in my life.
And the really sad part is that you have these poor saps buying into your crap. Its like their appreciation of your drivel fuels you inflated ego.
This is what you wrote…
“Do yourself a favor and look to the successful hrvati as role models. For example, look at me. For every Mamic and other corrupt mother fuckers out there, you can turn around and say that you read the writings of Ziva Istina.
All is not lost.”
WHAT! Who the F#*!K are you? You aint making no noise, what have you done in this life that deserves aknowledgement? besides your narcissistic, disguised as important news worthy ramblings? My money its nothing.
I belive mr. golden peanut smugglers 2nd option was right in the theory on why you wont reveal yourself. Because if you do people will just see some sad sack pencil neck geek in front of a laptop. And they will think to themselves ” this is the schmuck that has captivated me for all this time, what a dick” then all you enigma and reputation will be shot to shit.
I have no doubt that this is the case.
@Ante B,
I dont get what you are trying to say with “IndexWest” and “bring back the old CSR”. What is missing, what has changed?
I wrote the Patricia Klasnic post not as an update on his private life or rumors of who Klasnic is cheating with like the National Enquirer. A player’s divorce will always be news in the sports world because a divorce may affect a player’s performance. What do you see that I might have missed?
I dont mind your criticism or bashing of the site, but please do elaborate.
@goldenchild,
this sucks balls, and this is why. Because of these things, I have this and this to bring to the table that I think may bring improvements.
GIVE US A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM INSTEAD OF BITCHING ABOUT IT.
Well said.
@IvicA,
Excellent comment. One of the best this year. A couple of things for you. First, you come from a part of the world where the Croatian community is one of the strongest in the diaspora. When Ante and I visited Toronto in September we realized that Toronto has multiple: 1) Croatian parks, where they host picnics 2) Croatian churches 3) Croatian restaurants, and now just recently a Croatian Bar. Too bad Karlovacko was scratched for Ozujsko in your market. I guess when I speak, I speak for Croatians in LA because this is where I was born and raised. Also, from what I hear from others about Croatians around the US.
Second, “I’ve NEVER been to a “cash bar” Croat wedding.” I’ve been to a few. Ever been to a “happy hour” croatian wedding. Where the bar is open only for an hour. Croatians lining up and ordering 2-3 drinks before “open” turns into “closed”.
third, I agree with you that us Croatians are complainers. I don’t mind the complaining as long as you do something to change this.
fourth, I guess I dont know too much about “other new immigrant groups”. In LA its mostly Mexicans, Asians(Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Koreans), central-south americans, Greeks, and Jews.
Every one of those groups stick together better than Croatians in LA. San Pedro’s meat market thats been open for 35 years closed down a few years back. LA’s only specialty shop(mostly Croatian products) will close at the end of this month. If there were as many jews as there were Croats in San Pedro, there would be 3 meat markets, 3 restaurants and 3 specialty shops in San Pedro.
Yes, I am complaining, but I’m trying to do something to change this trend.
People are people, no need in arguing, and yes Croatians are people too, there are good ones, bad ones, and in betweens.
@Ivica
The only thing I have to agree with anything mentioned is that croatians are great complainers.
i dont know whether to be disturbed or impressed that hes more hairless then most girls….either way he needs to call cristiano and ask him where he purchases his hot pants version of the speedo…its a lot less disturbing for some reason haha
@Ante B
We luv ya, but chill.
Remember the boys are building a web presence here too, to further their mission, and stuff like this can help a lot.
@I’ll Dance Your Face Off Like Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom
Be careful, remember that Ziva is almost dva metra tall, and probably hungry right now. He’ll down you in 1 gulp like a slice of Chicago deep dish.
What colour is the sky in Republika Ziva Istina?
IvicA,
Comment of the YEAR!
We all need to change our shitty mentalities into that. We are all good people, mean well, want to raise our children with moral fiber. But at the same time, our father’s generation can’t even work together to get simple tasks completed because money is involved.
Change starts here people, with all of us HERE!
I can’t wait for the next newsworthy monstrosity of an article illustrating Klasnic’s taint. This sucks BECAUSE nobody wants to see Srna’s balls and is not news. Sramota, uzas.
First of all:
http://weknowmemes.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/watch-out-we-got-a-badass-over-here-meme.png
Second of all:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vh78T–ZUxY
You couldn’t have explained my feelings better. This was well thought out and well written. Ante K and I criticize each other for having the same mentality every week. It’s hard to shake.
To all of those who bitch, I just would like to bring one thing to the table.
If you don’t like what’s going on. Three of us have emails. If they don’t wanna hear it, I have an email. Click on my name and you’ll be directed to an email address. If not here it is.
lebo.matthew2@gmail.com
In 2012 I want to hear less of
This sucks.
What are you guys doing
This is a garbage post
and more of…
this sucks balls, and this is why. Because of these things, I have this and this to bring to the table that I think may bring improvements.
GIVE US A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM INSTEAD OF BITCHING ABOUT IT. But at the same time, don’t get too soft on me. A little ball busting is always good for the soul.
IVICA FOR BEST POST OF THE YEAR.
Ziva can you drop me an email. Just have a quick question for you.
P.S. Suck my Dario Srna chocolate salty balls
You guys are all blowing things way out of proportion.
Croatians screwing Croatians? Please. Gimmie a break.
That’s a typical Croat complaint, with very little to back it up. Sure, there are always going to be examples of someone screwing a friend over, but that happens MUCH more often (at a much higher ratio) in other cultures than amongst Croats.
What is it that’s so embarrassing about Croats and their so-called “shifty” ways?
Are we talking about the TWO cases of Croatian Credit Union scams that happened in Toronto and Cleveland (where only ONE of the 9 perpetrators were of Croatian descent, lol).
Or maybe we’re talking about the Croatian mafia football betting rings that occur in Croatia and Germany. Oh the horror!
Please. If anyone deserves to be scammed of their money, it’s degenerate gamblers. Here we have Albanians who traffic organs, Serbians who murdered their own Prime Minister and Soccer President, Bulgarians who print counterfiet money and screw the poor, Jamaicans committing daily homicides, Latin American Druggies, Chinese running over children twice just to ensure they don’t have to pay medical bills, etc etc….yet we complain about our image around the world from fixed soccer matches? LOL. You guys are all retarded.
The only things that Croats are, is a bunch a big time COMPLAINERS. Which, honestly, comes with positives too and is the reason why we are generally successful people. Croats are constantly dissatisfied and critical of their current state, and it creates pressure to achieve results (we all have experienced this with our own nagging parents).
What other immigrant groups (aside from Croats) who come from poor farms as unskilled tradesmen, end up actually owning their own homes within 10 or 15 years of arriving in their new countries? Look at other new immigrant groups from Africa, South America, Asia, and other parts of Europe. Croats are definitely up there in the rankings. I know Portuguese guys who’s fathers still clean toilets, and their Canadian-born kids are barely any better. I haven’t even heard of a Croatian janitor.
Up here in Canada, I’ve tried hanging out with pure-bread Canadians who have no background. WORST people in the world. NEVER will they ever offer you a drink when you go to their houses. NEVER will they ever refrain from using a calculator to pay the bill at a bar or cafe when you go out with them. NEVER are their parents’ marriages ever lasting beyond 5 years. Very selfish people who screw over friends and family so often, it becomes a reflex. When I go out with Croats, I’m literally fighting off the drinks that keep coming. I’ve NEVER been to a “cash bar” Croat wedding. I know when I get married, that busta is gonna be STACKED with cash and no fucking toasters as gifts.
In Toronto, girls LINE UP for Croats. If you score a Croatian guy or girl, you’ve hit the jackpot. Good looking people, with a great reputation is what you will always hear. Of course, it’s made possible due to the endless nagging and complaining that we complain about (and that I am complaining about right now).
/rant
Lol. This is true Penzija. The last 4 times you’ve posted, I think Ziva has been mentioned in all of them.
Ziva remains anonymous for one of 3 reasons:
1. Because he’s too fucking awesome to reveal his true identity
2. If he reveals himself nobody will respect him any longer for one reason or another.
3. If he reveals himself, you may be blinded by the sheer amazing that he exudes.
or mayyyybeee
Penzija and Ziva are the same people. And he’s using another username for propaganda to up his street cred on the site. If that’s the case I wouldn’t be surprised if we start seeing an ANTE C, D, E, & F or a Johnny Mad, Ante Mistaken, Tomo Furious
Close enough Ziva?
Where is Ziva Istina from?
I’ll be honest, one of the main reasons I read this website is for Ziva’s postings.
@Ante B
No, you didn’t do anything again.
@Everybody else
It’s the end of the year. Relax. Take a load off. Grab a beer. If I had to be as serious as some of you everyday, I’d be a pretty unhappy customer. We talk about soccer 24/7. We listen to everybody’s political rambling 22/7. And we listen to just about everything else that you guys want to talk about. So every now and then let some of the lighter posts go.
@Anonymous
We’ve been bringing them together for the past 3 years. That’s why you’re here, right?
After all of these posts, I’m reminded by what a wise man once said.
“If you were to shove a lump of coal up his ass, in two weeks you’d have a diamond.”
Everybody say it with me:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTGdAGPDBpo
I never looked at TMZ until this thread, but it appears everyone thinks he is gay because of his IGOR tattoo.
@Ante K: I agree that his Ukrainian deal looks pretty sweet.
Do you think this is a PR move to make him more popular stateside for MLS when he is washed up?
I always thought he was a legend at Shakhtar who would eventually wind up in the back office. However, this TMZ thing just doesn’t make sense. Most casual football fans wouldn’t even know who he is.
@ Ziva:
You had me at the start of your comment regarding corruption.
Your conclusion made me throw up in my mouth a little.
As for the article, I blame the Crippler for sending us the link 🙂
@Majstore,
We should start a book club here on CS. Have to pick up “Outliers” now after reading “Blink” and “Tipping Point.”
“And for a nation of so few people we seem to be having alot of these similar re-ocurring stories. And I can’t ever remember it being this bad for us, in terms of major stories coming out in such a short span of time.”
I agree 100%. I keep repeating myself, but you Canadians are really on a higher level than us Yanks.
The key point here what you bring up is the ratio of corrupt people vs. hard working honest people. For a country of only 4 million people, and 8 million Croatians on the face of the earth, we truly are in the news quite a lot. This has definitely been the trend the last 10-15 years or so.
The decision to post this item of news was made by me. What is newsworthy about this is not that Srna is in speedos, the important news that must be broadcast is the fact that someone Croatian is being covered by TMZ. TMZ is a top 500 website in the world and Srna was representing. This is news.
@ Denis Svircic I have read “The Tipping Point” actually. I can see how it could be tied in with something along those lines. Ps. I have read all of Malcolm’s books and my fav is “Outliers”, if you haven’t read it I would def suggest that one as well.
@ IvicA
That’s awesome. Cuvalo actually used to work out at my gym but I haven’t seen him in a while. He was always a nice and friendly dude.
@ ziva istina
Yeah I get that every race and population has it’s bad apples. But it just seems like with us Croatians over the last couple of years the topic of scamming and corruption keeps coming back. And for a nation of so few people we seem to be having alot of these similar re-ocurring stories. And I can’t ever remember it being this bad for us, in terms of major stories coming out in such a short span of time.
It just angers me because it makes the rest of us look like idiots. I would much rather we be known as an honest, hard-working, educated people. And these actions of a few, though they might be a minority of us, does far more harm to our image then the collective good of the majority.
Maybe I am overreacting a bit, but jebiga it really pisses me off.
Ante and Denis here all night. Hit us with your best shot.
Who needs answers from me? I’ll be here all night. Speak up.
Damn. I did it again, didn’t I? Totally did.
@Ante B/Anonymous
Good question. Not sure if that article has anything to do with uniting Croatians. Maybe Ante Kvartuc can answer this for you
how are you uniting croatians by showing them and thw rold dario srna’s ball sack?
@majstore,
Even though you were off topic, you hit the nail on the head with that comment. Corruption not only in Croatia, but like you said by Croatians here in North America is out of control. Someone is always pocketing the $$$. This has nothing to do with education. This has everything to do with the book “The Tipping Point” By Malcolm Gladwell..
http://www.amazon.com/Tipping-Point-Little-Things-Difference/dp/0316346624
Corruption tipped in croatia and for croatians abroad. Since everyone is doing it, and no one is getting punished, it becomes ok.
Excellent book if anyone has failed to read it.
The saddest thing for me is corruption on the small scale. We all know that the big ballers and politicians don’t give a f*ck about the every day Joe, but how about us little people. Little people scamming little people in Croatia and Croatian populated areas in North America.
This is why I am here every day on Croatiansports, hoping to unite us one day like the jews. When a Croatian comes into town, take care of him like he’s your brother.
@Ante B,
You make a very good point with
“They couldn’t have possibly thought they were fighting for this.”
I talked to many war veterans in Croatia. 90% of them would agree with this statement. Corruption exists in Croatia because there are no laws in place for such acts. Also, when you have the law in your back pocket? What happens then?
I’m more worried about the common folks. I don’t see much unity among are people. I see more bashing, hate, jealousy, envy, and power-happy people than anything else. Croatians just dont want Croatians to succeed.
Ziva Istina the definition of a true bad guy.
@IvicA
Thanks for the youtube link on the Čuvalo monument IvicA!
I had the pleasure of meeting Jure and he is a super super guy!
“Do yourself a favor and look to the successful hrvati as role models. For example, look at me.”
LOL
Ziva Istina = Legendo!
On a related note, Hercegovci “erected” a monument to Jure Cuvalo in Ljubuski this week:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WA2xU9Yfxg&feature=share
Zeljko Mavrovic with the cameo appearance.
Pfft.
Ziva would sell Croatia to the Mexicans for 500 pesos if he had the chance.
@majstore……Crooks, scammers, etc are part of every population. Go online and read your local newspaper or watch local TV; same shit going on with others as well. this is nothing new
A handful of select individuals rising to power or others being able to manipulate fellow hrvati is not an indictment of all hrvati.
Do yourself a favor and look to the successful hrvati as role models. For example, look at me. For every Mamic and other corrupt mother fuckers out there, you can turn around and say that you read the writings of Ziva Istina.
All is not lost.
Ziva Istina……pravi uzor za vas
Majstore, svaka cast. The recent events don’t make me ashamed of being Croatian per se, but it makes me angry to realize people are basically spitting on those soldiers who fought for and died for Croatia. They couldn’t have possibly thought they were fighting for this. But watch out, you also might get accused of living in the past too.
smuggling peanuts…wow Golden Child i don’t know what’s worse your fantasy basketball drafting skills or your name skills cause that was so not funny.
Not specifically related to the Srna speedo thing …
But
Is it just me or are any other Croats feeling embarrassed of being a Croatian. Over the course of the last year or two I feel like i have to become more and more ashamed of my people. And I hate a bunch of fucks for tarnishing what little is left of my nation’s image in the eyes of the world.
Banking scams in Toronto and Cleveland where Croats get scammed by fellow Croats. BS match-fixing and corruption in HNS. Corruption in the Croatian government.
FUCK.
Way to make us all look like shady, dumb uneducated Balkanci. We are already thought of as shady crooks and scammers in Western Europe, way to keep things going guys in helping further tarnish our image to the outside world.
: o
Here we go Index-West, here we go
Boys,
(especially who disapprove of Srna in his panties)
You need to learn to share the website.
1. This one is for the girls.
2. This one is for Croatian media.
3. This one is for you who need a ‘bimbo check’.
You all wondered why Srna stayed in Ukraine. Well, here you go, 10-week winter vacation where he can roam around in his underwear in 85 degree weather while the rest of Europe is playing Cup games in freezing weather.
Also TMZ doesn’t talk about just anyone…I’m surprised they would put Srna in the same boat as Beckham and Ronaldo. Maybe this will get him to flop less.
Ante B.- always living in the past…..
@ Steve
It’s a little weird you know so much about a “ballbra” haha avid user or something??! lol
I think I’m getting one of these for summer. Seems to be working.
http://justjared.buzznet.com/images/2006/05/borat-green-thong-swimsuit.jpg
You guys kill me, some of the comments are hilarious.
Denis I hope this Srna pick doesn’t make it to your photo of the year album lol. Think Srna needs a ballbra (Croatian guy invented the ballbra from Burlington Ontario)
Come on, u guys are up tight, a little bit of humor is enjoyed once in a while!
Ante B, CSR is not coming back.
Other than that, I think we should shy away from this stuff in the future.
Thank you for the entertainment CS.
What is the big deal?
Croatian beach is full of good looking men wearing almost nothing and some not so good looking men wearing the same thing.
Really? TMZ? This is where Crosports is at? First Patricia Klasnic now…this? Isuse Boze, bring back old CSR.
” Like ” On ” Like ” on or at Nizic…..
I really think that we need to bring this trend to America! If you call youself or think you are a “veliki hrvat” then you must get a pair of these “man panties” to wear on the beach. I’m all in, I might get a pair of white ones.
Procurio video: Maleš napustio Skupštinu, Mamić ga napao!

Put some board shorts on!
” Like ” On or @ AllenInnovation….. Ha, ha….
Well since they labeled him as Croatian’s captain on TMZ, our country just got labeled as more gayer than usual.
Why is this story even here??
haha That is Really funny…….
I’m suprised they even figured out who he was. Srna is no where near the same category as Ronaldo’s, Beckham’s, etc.
Jerry Sandusky approves this photo with great delight.
What’s that movie called ” A Night at the Roxbury ” A, HA, HA. HA, HA……. i DON’T EVEN FEEL COMFORTABLE PUTTING MY -U- AT THE END OF THIS POST……..
