Torcida is back!
I honestly don’t remember a time where Torcida publicly supported the HNS and the Croatian national side. It’s been well over 15+ years.
Yet, here we are. Torcida has made amends with the HNS and will return in full support of the Vatreni this Saturday at Poljud when Croatia hosts Wales in EURO 2024 qualifying.
Why did Torcida boycott Croatia in the first place? A few reasons. They never liked what Mamić was doing in Zagreb with Dinamo and how he would get away with certain things. They didn’t like the corruption going on in the HNS and how it was being dealt with. They didn’t like how Maksimir hosted nearly every Croatia match compared to Split, Rijeka, Osijek.
In Croatia’s history, they have played at Maksimir 68 times compared to 17 matches in Split. Does Torcida have a point?
Croatia are 4-8-5 at Poljud. With a win versus Wales Saturday, they will pull themselves out of the red at Poljud with a brand new .500 record.
Total Croatia News asked Dalić what he thought about Torcida returning for the match against Wales this weekend:
“I constantly point out that the Croatia national team is a place of gathering and togetherness, which is what we strive for and work on. I’m glad to hear about the return of Torcida. We want the Boys, Kohorta, and Armada to come too. This is Croatia. This is our country, and we must support it. Everyone is welcome. It will be a great support for us. While I’m here, we will gather all Croats and fans,” Dalić said.
