Is all right with Ivan Rakitić in Sevilla? The 24 year-old Croatian midfielder got in a fist fight with Sevilla FC teammate and youth system player Deivid Rodriguez Thursday during training. It is reported by Madrid newspaper Marca that Rakitić threw something towards the young Spaniard, which was quickly followed by a Rodriguez punch. Both players exchanged a few blows before being separated by Italian teammate Tiberio Guarente and assistant coach Victor Sanchez del Ama. No serious injuries were reported and it is unknown if disciplinary action will be brought upon the players.
Is this a one time thing or is Rakitić frustrated in Spain? After recovering from an injury earlier in the season, Rakitić has been coming off the bench for Sevilla late in the second half for the majority of 2012. He has had few starts but hasn’t produced much as Sevilla went on an awful run which will see them miss out on next year’s Champions League, and possibly Europa League as well. After competing in the 2009 Champions League group stage and being ousted by Braga in the 2010 playoff round, Rakitić had to think he was making a wise decision moving to Spain in 2011 after a fall out with Schalke management.
But the goals aren’t coming and the form is not currently there. With only two matches remaining in the La Liga season, does Ivan Rakitić belong in Croatia’s starting XI for EURO 2012?
Why did Rakitic leave?????? $$$$$$ and playing time.
@Mr.Black….Vukcevic will play for Cro if called up for the Euros. Now, will he be called up is another item?
Boris Vukcevic, he plays almost all the time for Hoffenheim in the German first division. He was apparently born in Osjiek but he has played already for the German national U18. Does anyone knows if the guy has already said something about playing for Croatia?
What’s funnier is that he has just as many goals as Fernando Torres (£50M) and his replacement Andy Carrol (£35M) combined in about 2800 less minutes played.
🙂
I posted this on another column as well…just in case anyone was interested i thought this was pretty funny. the question is what was the best signing of 2011/12:
1. Nikica Jelavic, Everton – £5.5 million: It speaks volumes that, courtesy of his ten goals in 13 matches (eight in the Premier League) since arriving at Goodison on January transfer deadline day, Jelavic is now both Everton’s and Rangers’ top scorer this season.
@ziva
ajme ziva dosadan si ko pas. suti vise.
Nikica Jelavić proglašen igračem mjeseca u Premiershipu! Prvi Hrvat!

Hey ziva take some of your own advice . Not to hate. Peder jedan
I may be a pizda (really I am not), but no need to hate.
Ziva, your not funny . Your kind of a jerk . Pizda
Rodriguez was telling him tequilla and Spanish wine are better than Zuja and rakija.
@ Ziva
Ha, ha, ha………..
I knew that you can be provocative, cold and “ziva istina” but I didn’t know that you can be funny.
As for Rakitic, I think that Rodriguez was probably getting on his nerves for a while, and this time he found him at the bad place. I just hope Ivan put him in his place.
FYI: MARKO PERKOVIC THOMPSON came out with his first single for his new album. Its called UVIJEK VJERNI TEBI! For those of you who like his music enjoy!

@Ziva Istina
I gotta give it to you, that was pretty funny.^
The conversation went something like this:
Deivid Rodriguez: I read on the internet (Crotiansports.com) that all you croatians from the diaspora think you are “veliki hrvati.”
Rakitic: It’s true, we are veliki hrvati. We are not lazy like a typical person born and raised in Croatia.
Deivid Rodriguez: You are no veliki hrvat. You are small and tiny and all full of yourself. Are you sure you are not from Split?
Rakitic: Hell no, don’t you ever, ever, and I mean ever call me a Splican.
Deivid Rodriguez: Ok, “mali hrvat”!!!
At this point a fight erupted. Don’t know if tis true, but I have it on good authority this is how it went down.
I don’t see anything major here. A little incident is no big deal although I can’t see Rakitic hurting a fly. He’s got the pretty boy look so it would be pretty weird. He’s still a valuable player on Croatia and will be a huge part of the Euro Cup.
smack the cunt, we need some heart especially after Niko Kovac retired, a bit of fire is good!
Okay, the guy doesn’t always play but he plays regulary in one of the most difficult leagues in the world. I think he should play. Hrvatska can not afford to keep someone with his techical skills on the bench.
@Dukic
So true!
🙂
what? a croatian with a temper?
What?
He threw something? Frustrated? Who knows? Maybe he just doesnt like the guy.
Although Rakitic hasnt been in great form, i still believe he makes the cut in our starting 11. He is a player that can change a game, and i personally would rather he be on the pitch than off.
