In case you missed it, Bayer Leverkusen’s Stefan Kiessling scored a ‘ghost goal’ against Hoffenheim on October 18th to earn his side a 2-1 win when the ball entered through a hole in the side netting. The goal came in the 70th minute with Leverkusen already up 1-0 but would be the deciding factor in the match as Hoffenheim pulled one back late in the game. The ball obviously did not go in, but what should be expected from the referee if the player confesses to the no goal? And more importantly, what should the Football Association do after the match when clear cut evidence proves it wasn’t a goal?
ESPNFC has reported the Hoffenheim’s appeal to have the match replayed has been denied by the German FA. If Croatia scored a similar goal like this at the World Cup, as a fan, would you let the goal stand or take the high road and have it called the right way?

@Ziva and Ante B,
Where do you find such cheap flights? Fill me in. CSR cant pay the bills.
@Ante……I got my ticket for $730, but I am flying into Stockholm first before going to Iceland on the day of the game. Got my game ticket through a friend.
Ante B….$850 is a great round-trip price from SF, if you’re serious about going you should lock that in. I’d bet you could get a ticket into the stadium for $100-$200 for sure…
Ziva how much is your plane ticket? I have one for $850 from San Francisco but not sure whether to pull the trigger. Did you get your game ticket from the Savez or does one of your buddies have a connection?
Banda you are correct . Ziva is a joke .
^ ^
I agree!
Mueller is awesome!
So under-rated.
@Nk Drava (Ludbreg)……Mueller is more valuable to that team than mandza. And I am not taking anything away from Mandza. He had a great a year.
@jm…..If you fly out to Iceland and you want to pay for a ticket, you will get into the game. Not sure if stubhub works in Europe. I’m sure they have their version of stubhub out there. Scalpers are not hard to find. And who cares if you sit in the Cro section or not. This isn’t Beograd.
If Halilovic’s father is a full blown Baosanac, what makes you think the younger Halilovic is not a full blown Bosanac. Either way, it doesn’t make a difference. This kid is not ready for anything close to senior national team soccer. I’ll be disappointed if Kovac calls him up. Would be a waste of a roster spot.
No Super Mario on the Short List for Ballon D Or-
Too bad he deserves it more than teammate Mueller-
True, but Sejad was not in Croatia’s plans.
They capped him once and never called him up again. Then he went on to play for BiH two years later. This guy is a full blown Bosanac who is born and raised there. His son isn’t.
Still though, we shoulda capped him. :-\
@Ivica – remember, Halilovic’s father Sejad played a friendly for Croatia before switching to Bosnia, so, following in his father’s footsteps is not out of the question.
If Halilovic wants to play for BIH neka good luck in the future and career. Thats all one player doesnt make a national team.
@ ziva. does scalpers mean stub hub? or do i have to go fly out to reykavik and stand out in the cold looking for shady guys claiming to have tickets? and i doubt they would have cro side tickets right?
@ Croat Hrvat
Diego Costa was raised in Spain for a good part of his life and only picked Brazil because they called him up first. He never played for their junior ranks and probably doesn’t even know that many of the Brazilian NT footballers or anyone in the organization. Plus, it was for two friendlies and I don’t think he’s in their long term plans.
OTOH, Halilović is born and raised in Cro and grew up in the HNS system. BiH ‘s juniors actually called Halilović up before we did and he turned them down. Plus, he now plays with and has a relationship with a lot of these Cro players. It becomes more difficult to switch after all this.
Still not a guarantee, but I’m much more confident of him playing for us over them than I was a year ago.
Still… We should’ve capped him
(enter Živa comment about how we shouldn’t care if he doesn’t pick us, etc)
😉
@jm……not hard at all. Tickets are easy to get from scalpers
Brozović has been getting some love in the Cro media.
Turns out that in almost every game where Dinamo choked this season, Brozović was not in the lineup.
He did well for Niko in U21, and no doubt Mamić would want to sell him this summer after an appearance on that Brazil roster.
Any chance of him not being called up despite the crowded midfield?
Diego Costa turns his back on Brazil (who has 2 friendly caps for) and will now play for Spain national team. Will Halilovic follow suit?
@ ziva thanks for the help. i’m not a member. how tough to do you think it is to get tickets?
@Ivica, that SOB is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.
.
Živa, you gotta promise not to cheer for Iceland.
@jm…….I assume the Croatian tickets will go through the savez and the Uvijek Vjerni site, but you need to be an existing member with them.
@Ziva, please don’t go dressed as a Big Mac with Kranjcar on the back.
.
@ ziva
i am looking to go to the game. any idea where to buy tickets? on the hns site? any critieria to get them?
@Ziva Istina
Sretan put and cheer our boys on.
I would tell the ref to disallow the goal if it was my team that scored.
Tickets to the first leg in Iceland went on sale today. Cro gets 950 tickets, roughly 10% of capacity. Anyone flying to Iceland? I booked a flight and have been told I have two tickets to the game. Any of the east coast hrvati going?
What happened to fair play?
Easy fix. Bayer should let Hoffenheim score. End of story.

This is some of the funniest stuff ever…..
That being said, i do however recall FIFA replaying a game in 2005, some of you may remember this, when i saw the game was to replayed i nearly fell off my chair
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-361512/FIFA-set-dangerous-precedent.html
these things happen all the time, there’s not much you can do about it .. countless of examples of countries missing major tourneys due to dogshit calls (suker header vs jugo ’99 for example) and the england germany one in – was in 2010?? anyway it happens all the time.. if u replay one then u have to replay them all
i think the better discussion should be maybe if there should be video tech used to reduce the errors? that is prolly closer to the heart of the topic..
even if u didnt check everything but each team could challenge 1 call per match just to get rid of the shocker, idk,
@Billy – “Looks like I’m buying my playoff tickets in…….Reykjavik, Iceland!”
Ante Kvartuc writes: “If Croatia scored a similar goal like this at the World Cup, as a fan, would you let the goal stand or take the high road and have it called the right way?”
If it was Rakitic heading it, I would let it stand only to shut everyone the fuck up – otherwise, I’d have it called the right way.
