I spoke to former Los Angeles Laker and two-time NBA champion Sasha Vujačić last Thursday in Oakland, Ca when his New York Knicks took on the Golden State Warriors. Vujačić represents Slovenia as he was born in Maribor to a Slovenian mother and a father from Montenegro. He spoke about the gap in basketball between the American players and the rest of the world as well as his relationship to the current Croatian players in the NBA.
When talking about players from the former Yugoslavia, whether it be Croatia, Bosnia, Slovenia or Serbia, Vujačić said “there are no borders in sports.”
CroatianSports.com nation, do you agree with that statement?
Comprehension your adversary is really a huge advantages of you along with the better you
know them the better your odds of succeeding.
@Ex I understand the history you douche bag.
Shut up you idiot real Modric and understand the history before you post your garbage.
Most Croats,Bosnians,Serbs get along at European football clubs. Suker ,Mijatovic both played at Real Madrid together at the same time. I remember one Slovenac said it was better when it was Jugoslavija under Tito. Steph Curry real name is Stjepan Curic.
Thanks BC, I appreciate the kind word!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Sretan Bozic Svima!!!
@Slavonac
You are the best commentator on this site by far. No one comes close to you. YOu know the politics, and you know soccer. No one can pick apart a game like you and you are always on the mark. All the best for 2017.

Ej, dico, Bozic dolazi………………prestanite se svadjati…
Hablas espanol gueyyyyyy
not true Maminjo, there’s been a few internet warriors degrading her and insulting me also…but I know who i am and how I was raised so its fine.
as per my wife? she’s a great Catholic, an amazing mom and a fantastic wife. I don’t know that many people on earth like her…very real and down to earth person. she’s the definition of humility, kindness and gentle soul…I’m pretty lucky!
Angela Mrkel is a stupid ugly idiot, whoever told her that bringing the infidels from the desert to Germany was a good idea should be shot! Shouldn’t we be mowing down the infidel like grass?
Mrkel also should be shot.
Now please don’t think I’m being harsh when I say that, if someone trying to bring marijuana into indonesia get’s killed, I believe what ugly Mrkel is doing is a lot worse.
How many people have died now because of ugly Mrkel?
Also, I’ve come up with a question that should be asked to all Muslims that want to enter non Muslim countries, and that is, “how does it make you feel that the majority of this country you want to enter believes that Mohammed is a false prophet?”
@Slavonac
I don’t think anyone was attacking you about your mother being half Serbian.
However, your wife being Mexican…is unforgivable.
😉
Nothings funnier than a “veliki Hrvat” that doesn’t even speak the language. Keep preaching Elvis!
I’ve attacked Kvartuc…as you’ve done to me, or I’ve criticized his skewed view about an article or column he’s written?
don’t mix words Ante, there is a difference.
ok, I’m done with this topic…I want to enjoy the Christmas season and not argue. I started this and I accept, I was just trying to make a point.
scared about having kids? I’ll give you the best advice you’ll ever get. do not let your wife or mom do it all, like I’ve seen many men do. bathe you child, change him (and her one day), feed him, play with him…talk to him…spend time and nurture his growth. if you want your kid to be someone…you better act the way you want him to be cause they copy everything you do and say…if not in front of you, it’ll be at school!
Incorrect statement. I’ve seen you attack others repeatedly, most recently Kvartuc, on a myriad of topics. The ones I respond to you are when they are directed at me which happens to be more often than others. My main point is that we’re both guilty but you bring me up waaay more often than I bring you up. The posts speak for themselves
Regardless, thank you for the kind words. He’s due in March and I’m already nervous and scared out of my mind.
I made my peace with you over a year ago and apologised, you’ve attacked many of my comments since then…and I’ll bet it’ll continue.
regardless, congratulations on having a son…it’s the best gift anyone can receive and… ako Bog da, I hope you have several more kids…they’ll change you forever and your life will now rotate around them!
Pretending? Read the very next sentence after what you quoted. You’re guilty as I am.
“That is failing”
Ante B
didn’t you attack me about my mother…and now you’re pretending “Anybody who personally attacks another mans family is a piece of shit for it”???
@Jararc
That’s a very stupid comment. No, not everyone can just become a Croatian. We have our own ethnic and cultural origin. Do you want others bringing foreign norms and customs? What country would we have then? Do you want to be like Western Europe where the men have no sense of pride and have feminist lesbians dictate their lives?
Simple observational skills will tell you that open borders are a disaster.
What is important is for the citizens of a country to love that country to want the best for that country to be patriotic to defend to etc……I don’t have a problem with others being croatian as long as they love croatia…..problem with the jugos we all know they didn’t love croatia….there were bosniaks and serbs who fought for croatia because they loved where they were born/lived/raised etc….
Funny.
A new Far Left Wing party was created in Croatia with a lot of support:
https://www.total-croatia-news.com/politics/15364-life-was-better-in-yugoslavia-claims-leader-of-new-left-party
The party leader is 35 years old and telling everyone how life was better in the Yugo days.
He was 8 years old when it all collapsed, lol.
Shit, everything is great and dandy when you’re 8 years old.
You can respect a fellow athlete even if they are Serbian, yes. If this is what he meant by his quote, fair enough.
Maybe i’m old fashioned, but i wouldn’t make any reference regardless. Being always mindful of people who had loved ones killed by Serbs, or fought for Hrvatska. I think of my family especially. I wouldn’t give them the satisfaction, nor would i even remotely similarize the Yugo model of no borders.
But again, back to being diplomatic, “his quote”, each to their own.
But how this relates to your mother being half Serbian, i am not so sure. If a Serbian is happy to live and respect the Croatian way of life, that’s fine, nothing more to it.
Good one @Maminjo
Those that say it was better during Yugoslavia, i don’t have any time for them. They can get fkd. Obviously they weren’t affected, their families probably never fought for Hrv, or more accurately, fought for the Partizani. My family, like many, were being head-hunted and prosecuted long after ’45, just because they fought for what we have today during NDH. But this mentality, well, this is why Croatia cannot go forward.
All is fair when attacking yugos, communists, and leftists.
They are scum and traitors to their country. Fuck then all.
Anybody who personally attacks another mans family is a piece of shit for it. That is failing. You’re not guilt free and neither am I. I hope my son doesn’t learn that.
If only you were the real Maminjo. I enjoyed that post.
Where is that idiot Black Zodiac. He loves jugo and Tito.
Humans are funny.
They forget things pretty easily…if you let them.
For example, black slavery in the USA is still a constant topic of discussion in the media. It’s still a regular subject in shows and film, the concept of “white guilt” is very real, etc.
… But it’s amazing how many people forget that Canada and other countries (especially in the Middle East) also took part in this.
But if you ask the average person, most would assume that there was no black slavery in places like Canada, Western Europe, the Middle East, and even Africa. All the hate and blame goes solely to the USA.
Unless there is something constantly reminding us of something, it WILL be forgotten.
I find it amazing how there are so many Yugo-nostalgic people out there that actually believe their lives were better under Tito.
The guy had UDBa agents kill people, or throw them onto Goli Otok if you just spoke out and disagreed with him. You couldn’t leave the country with your family, for fear that you simply won’t come back. Also, you could be arrested and accused of “being a capitalist” at any point if you happened to be too successful in your life (it happened to Milan Mandarić).
Yet people simply forget these things and make up grand stories about his greatness and how he invented NASA, lol.
There is no active force reminding people of the negative side of Yugo, and in time, it will be forgotten. Most of it already has been.
My dad was 100% Croatian (Slavonac)…my mother was half Serbian, half Croatian (Licanka), she never really had to deal with the Serb side of her family as she was not born in Serbia and by the time she was old enough to know anything, her entire family was Croatian/Catholics. One of her sisters that was married to a Croatian guy from Split, who’s son fought for HVO and who’s daughter teaches in a University in Split…but she….was a typical commie and neither my mom or dad ever exposed us to her and her garbage.
many people have shit in their families, they cover it up but will usually attack people like me for being born to a mother half Serbian! for the record…in Vancouver, my mother was most respected in my community, so when people like Ante B come at me about this…just know, you’re failing!
@slavonac
I think with a lot of those jugos that are Croats, someone failed them at some point. Hey, I have a few in my family and when we talk this topic I tell them to fuck right off.
…one more point about the “there are no borders”…and how Serbs perceive things.
maybe Serbia needed to be invaded? maybe Serbs in Beograd needed to feel fear? maybe Serbs in Novi Sad, Nis and Zemun needed to get murdered, raped and their villages burned to the ground for them to understand the feeling of war and the effects of it. its one thing to send your military to foreign land and create atrocities, its another when you feel it for yourself!
I don’t understand the ignorance and insensitivity from many of the Serbs and Yugos! there’s many Yugos in Croatia as well…its obvious they’re out of touch with the realities of post war in Croatia.
“there are no borders”?
I think the answer is both simple and complex. I believe these athlete’s, whether they are soccer players, basketball, handball…they all understand that at some point in their career they may have to be a team-mate with someone from from the “dark side”…in our case it would be someone from Serbia or Crna Gora…even BiH. They look at this situation as “it is what it is”! They are professionals and have to learn to coexist and play as a team-mate…politics and religion have no place in that scenario…they are paid to perform with their team-mates.
where I think there are major differences is when you ask a Serb the same question you ask a Hrvat…would we welcome a Balkan league, would we welcome a competition where Croats and Serbs regularly coexist in sport???
to Croatians, we flat out say NO, to Serbs, they usually say “why not”? I saw this last week when they asked people in ZG and BG…and I was shocked with how most Serbs responded…which tells me, they’re either living in denial of what they did or they’ve been so manipulated they believe the lies…or they’re chemically imbalanced!
when someone says there are no borders in sport, its obvious they mean amongst team-mates…sport won’t erase wrongdoings, sport doesn’t turn a blind eye to hatred and war…sport is pride and passion, teams that represent their cities, countries and the people. there is absolutely no chance any two former Yugo teams from opposing views can coexist as if “there are no borders”…the people will never allow it in the sport of soccer…and the cons far outweigh the pros!
cool story
http://www.croatiaweek.com/what-national-geographic-wrote-about-croatia-100-years-ago/
Open borders more muslims, more death.
Danke Deustschland.
“divac……cetnik” 30 for 30 once brothers
No surprise with his comments given he is mjesana salata
@Vlade Divac
You were one of the smelliest players in the game!
Talking about “there are no borders” is not part of a ZDS lifestyle. We all know better on here.
We are all brothers!!
I wish Cacic would call me up 🙁
Nice Ante….
You were in the Bay and didn’t say hi…
Bratsvo i Jedinstvo!!! 😉
I always like to troll any Serbian dude who’s all like “it’s all the same thing” and “it should be one country again”….by saying “Ok, let’s re-create Yugoslavia, but this time, let’s make Zagreb the capital”.
Tell any Serbian dude that. The look on their faces will be priceless, and it shows the true color and motivation of why they believe it should be one country.
