Andrej Kramarić finally got back on the scoresheet for Hoffenheim when he equalized against Wolfsburg in 1st half injury time for his first Bundesliga goal of the season. Krama found a loose ball in the box following a corner and cooly headed it home under the crossbar. Hoffenheim would beat Wolfsburg 3-1. This goal was a long time coming as Kramarić has been cold to start the season; both for Hoffenheim and Croatia.
Mateo Kovačić played the full 90 minutes for Chelsea in a 1-0 loss to Manchester City. City put on the press from the opening whistle and suffocated the Chelsea midfield. Kovačić received a 7/10 as he was “Chelsea’s best player. Some great long passes to try and find the forwards. Almost scored in second half.”
19-year old wunderkind Luka Sučić had two assists and was voted “Man of the Match” in Red Bull Salzburg’s 2-0 win over Wolfsberger Saturday. The first came off a corner kick in the first half and the second came after the restart when Sučić sent a perfectly laced Luka Modrić “outside the boot” pass across the field to an open Noah Okafor for the goal. Sučić is exceeding all expectations thus far in his first full season in the Austrian Bundesliga. RB Salzburg hosts goalie Ivo Grbić and Lille Wednesday in Champions League.
Seems to me sucic should be getting a shot pretty darn soon
No!
Bring back Badelj, Rog and (Filip) Bradaric.
Looks like young luka has been working on the outside boot style pass like old luka
Very nice pass on the second goal
Sometimes when I’m chillin like I am now, I always wonder how we would have done in the 1994 world cup.
All of our boys would have been 4 years younger. Hmm.
Imagine a 25 yr old Prosinecki, a 26 yr old Boban and on and on.
We would have placed at that World Cup as well and with the support of the Diaspora. Yikes.
Scary team that would have been.
With the Diaspora in Full support, Fresh off Independence, we woulda taken that tournament by storm!
Agreed!
Forgot about a 24 yr old Alen Boksic. Oh my what damage
absolutely the best team ever – in 1994 |+
2018 team was mere luck – for going through
only Modric can be listed on that team …
standing with young Boban Prosinecki
Yup
1994 would have been exciting to see a croatia team
Ivkovic Ladic Mrmic Gabric as keepers I dont know who would get nod.
3 cbs Stimac Bilic Jerkan
Jarni Jurcevic as wing backs
Boban Asanovic Prosinecki
Suker Boksic.
3 5 2 a yoinger euro 1996 team
The best players from that 1990 Yugoslavia team were Croats.
Something like 10 players out of the 22 man squad were Croats and they kept some of the old veterans from Serbia, MK and BiH, just because they wanted to make it more representative of Yugoslavia (instead of it being just Croatia). There were only 3 Serbs on the team, lol.
Boban wasn’t on the team. A few other members of our 1987 Chile winning junior squad were left off too. LOL…and they took a bunch of bums instead, just for fair representation.
That team barely lost to Argentina in the quarters (who ended up in the Finals themselves).
a 1994 Croatia squad would have made an amazing run to the World Cup Finals, since guys like Suker, Boban, Prosinecki and Boksic would have been in their PRIME in that tournament.
Instead of Baggio kicking it over the bar in that famous PK shootout with Brazil, it could have been one of our boys doing it (Mornar style).
What is going on with Lovren being sent to the gulag?
I can’t find anything as to why he’s not even on the bench?
He’s unplayable.
He’s been the cause of half of their goals against, and most of their losses, so they had to bench him.
No worries though, because he is the first CB option for us on the National Team, ahead of Gvardiol, Ćaleta-Car, Pongračić, Vida and Stanišić.
I really hope he doesn’t cost us going forward
Tho I feel he played just fine the last couple of games
I do want to see these young guys take the reigns
Someone said gvardiol is injured?? How bad
Sosa/gvardiol/vida/stanisic in October??!
Lovren is okay when paired with a very competent CB and DCM.
When he had his best year in his club career at Southampton, it was largely due to being paired with the very steady and savvy José Fonte.
During the World Cup, Lovren had Modric and Brozovic (two elite defensive midfielders) in front of him. Both of them playing at their peak.
The moment you put someone else in front of him, like Pasalic (who isn’t a terrible player) or Kovacic (who is not as elite as Modric or Broz in the CDM role)…you see Lovren for what he is…and he embarrassed us in Nations League.
Lovren was okay these past few games because of the competition. We’re a lot better than teams like Slovenia and Slovakia, and Lovren still made a ton of errors that better teams would punish us for.
His errors will pay the opponents dividends at the World Cup. Not so much now.
The problem with Lovren is he’s guaranteed to give away 1 penalty in the group stage (ie WC 18 and Euro 20). If he continues to be benched in Russia, he will lose his starting spot for the Repka.
Juranovic was injured today, maybe this opens the door for Stanisic. I really hope it does.
How lucky are we to have a young probably very capable guy to step in.
This kid should be a super utilitarian for us
I hope Dalić uses the game against Cyprus to test out a back line of Sosa, Gvardiol, Stanisić, Juranović with Barisić subbing Sosa and Uremović possibly subbing Juranović to let Stanisić move to the right. The Cyprus match should be all about attacking, and Lovren and Vida can get a rest before we put their experience beating Slovakia to good use.
Crazy finish to the Gorica vs Rijeka game.
BTW – I have this box that allows me to watch all Croatian and all major leagues plus regular tv snd movies from all over the world. If someone is interested, it cost approximately $180 to setup and then $15/month CDN
I don’t have to use the VPN device…this is different from the Amazon fire stick
Bok Slavonac.
Stjepan from Canada. Would really appreciate specifics on the device and package you are referring to. Puno Hvala.
Stjepan, get my email address from Kvartuc please…I’ll help you
We got to see old luka and young luka play together before old luka retires
Dalic will start playing new Luka after old Luka retires, to ensure there is no knowledge transfer.
Just kidding. Dalic will be gone by then.
WC2022 will probably be Modric’s last tournament, and Dalic will finally be let go. Sucic will start playing after that, although it would be nice to see him practice with the team and get minutes off the bench (at the end of games) prior to this tournament before Luka retires.
Then again, maybe they give Luka the head coaching position after WC2022 (despite having zero experience). I wouldn’t put it past them lol.
Better luka then dalic
Would be nice to see Luka Modric play along side Luka Sucic in the Repka. In order to “pass the tourch” so to speak!
Dalic is out the door as soon as the WC finishes. They will NOT be giving him a new contract.
And Dalic is banking on another great run, in order to solidify his reputation, which he can then parlay into a Big contract in the middle east.

God will come and bless us!
😂😂😂. Laknat post of the year so far!
Why is everyone going wild for our forwards scoring in Mickey Mouse leagues? Pjaca, Hailovic, etc. The issue we face is not having a consistent striker that plays at top level club and can score and compete in the best league. Mandzo was the only one and only forward that won a CL with Croatia in the last how many years. Sick and tired of hearing Colak or Hailovic scoring goals in tier 3 leagues. That’s what we lack. As for the weekend. Vlasic not starting is bullshit, saw Modric subbed off in the 73rd minute. Kovacic looked like the only one in form in Chelsea’s mid. Guy still is underrated and once Modric retires next year and Vlasic gets more minutes. Vlasic and Kova pair would be destructive. Defensive I’m happy Gvardiol is playing well and unfortunate for him to get injured. Goaltending is improving. I’m just hoping for a better forward. Mandzukic was our guy and it will be almost impossible to replace him.
I love “Mickey Mouse” leagues angle.
Check out the roster of the Euro Cup-winning Italy team.
Vast majority in Serie A.
Guess they suck though.
Yeah no shit Sherlock. Obviously they won euro because it’s Italians all play on Italian clubs together for years and build chemistry. Last time I checked..I haven’t seen a Serie A team win a CL in years. Also, maybe the teams they are on and the league isn’t as strong as it was. So maybe I misspoke. Look at juventus now..garbage and Inter is the only competitor and real team in Serie A.
Serie A is not a “mickey mouse” league by any stretch of imagination. A majority of teams in Serie A have stacked lineups and excellent coaches. There are quotas on how many teams from each country go to the CL and Europa leagues, which may skew the picture of which are actually the best teams, but Italian teams show up to those tournaments competitive, and matches within Serie A usually are well-fought. Yes, Milano and Inter and Juventus generally have the best results because they sign slightly more elite players than the rest of teams, but you also have Roma, Fiorentina, and Napoli being perennial competitors for CL qualification, and more recently you have Lazio and Atalanta in that class. Right now we also have good teams like Torino and Verona and Sampdoria near the bottom of the table. That kind of competition is a good sign for any league. La Liga works the same way: good teams all over, with slightly more elite performers taking the top spots after fighting through strong challenges every week. The Swedish league obviously is not as good, and where Halilovic plays isn’t as good, but if a player makes enough of an impact in any professional league, that means they can play. I would be more interested in the Russian super league than Colak or Halilovic though. There are a few very good teams in Russia!
Italy is a top-4 league.
UEFA has the Serie A ranked third overall (using their coefficient rankings), behind Spain and England (which is probably right).
Can’t call it a Mickey Mouse league, just because it’s not EPL or La Liga.
Should Tin Jedvaj get called up now?
Why? He’s a complete bust
I wouldn’t write him off.
He’s a regular starter at Lokomotiv Moskva, and if he’s doing well, then sure.
However, he’s too far behind the players we currently have at CB (which is where he plays at Moscow).
He’s not going to get ahead of Caleta-Car, Pongracic, Stanisic or Gvardiol.
..All of whom are younger, and play on better clubs.
He would also have to push out Lovren and Vida who are decent depth players as well. Not to mention Uremovic, who is also younger and been playing first team football in the same league as Jedvaj.
I can’t see him ever getting a callup again, unless he begins to play really well for his club AND we get hit with a bunch of injuries.
Time is also against him since everyone ahead of him is younger than him too (despite still being only 25). Plus, there are probably going to be a couple more young defenders (like Bartol Franjić) coming up our youth ranks over the next two years, who will easily be better than Jedvaj.
I think it’s just too late now for Tin. Depth player in case of injuries, but that’s it.
This is good news actually, and is a testament to how deep our CB position has become over the past year.
One year ago, our defense looked depleted and hopeless…relying on guys like Melnjak and experimenting with an out-of-position Uremovic.
Fast forward to today, and we now have Gvardiol, Stanisic, Sosa, Juranovic, Bradaric, and Pongracic added to the fold (with interesting youngsters quickly coming up the ranks like Franjic).
That’s amazing that Jedvaj is only 25! He was highly rated at Leverkusen, but they had really good defenders for so many years… It’s good that he gets a fresh start in a new league after the Augsburg loan. Put any player on a team that bad, and it will be tough for them to come out looking good. I agree that it’s unlikely he comes back to the Repka any time soon, though a strong track record over the next 4 seasons could bring him back.
Sucic with 2 assists today. Has anyone seen them? Were they nice?
Gvardiol left early with an injury. Does anyone know the severity of it?
Bradaric isn’t even on the bench for Lille.
Same for Lovren.
I really hope that Gvardiol isn’t the “injured type”.
He’s been doing very well at Leipzig.
He’s looking like he’ll be our best ever defender.

One of the only decent strikers we’ve produced this century. He was pretty good for a minute
Awesome videos
Too bad he never played a lot for Cro. Only goal I remember him scoring was the Euro one against Ireland.
My favorite memory of him was during that WC match against Mexico when he called one of them a Puto.
Roko Šimić with 2 well-taken penalties yesterday.
He has 5 goals in 8 games. Two were penalties, but still a good rate.
He’s only 17 and 6’3″ already. Likely still growing.
Looks like his dad made the right decision to put him on the Red Bull path. Being loaned out to FC Liefering (and playing with adults in a league, instead of the junior squad) is the exact same path Luka Sucic took.
I really hope this kid pans out.
David Brent’s team
Halilovic false 9 for the repka
Goal scoring solved!
Actually, I think Real plays Villarreal today. 😀
Good to see Halilović score.
Halilovic goal. @LAknat is creaming his pants right now
