Ivan Perišić returned to Inter Milan from the international break on fire Saturday at the San Siro. Perišić assisted on both Icardi goals and scored himself in the 13th minute with a tight angle shot with his right foot. Croatian teammate Marcelo Brozović was given credit for the long range assist. Both played the full match for Inter as they remain in fourth place for the last Italian Champions League berth with one match in hand over Lazio. Perišić must be in form if Croatia plans to make a run at the World Cup this summer.
Perišić goal vs. Verona
Luka Modrić had a fine day at the office on Saturday in a 3-0 victory over Las Palmas. Modrić assisted on the first goal of the game, a 40-yard long ball down field to keep Gareth Bale onside for the break away. Modrić came off for Mateo Kovačić in the 61st minute. Both will be in action this Tuesday when Juventus host Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals. It is a rematch of last year’s final.
Modrić vs. Las Palmas, Assist At 1:20
Ivan Rakitić played the full 90 minutes as Barcelona came back to score two goals in the last five minutes of the match against Sevilla to force a 2-2 draw. Ante Rebić was taken off in the 39th minute for Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday in a 2-1 loss to Werder Bremen. We will keep an eye on his progress.
@ Maminjo/Vida…Franko time???
Honestly, Moro is the only other player I want to see occupy that holding midfield role and he’s injured too. Andrijasevic is decent but he didn’t even play this weekend. I definitely don’t want to see Antolic, Radosevic, or Males back for the World Cup. I really don’t see Dalic calling up anyone else just before the tournament. Hopefully, Badelj is fit enough in time.
Apparently Badelj and Rebic are both out for a month and should be back for the WC according to Cro news. Then again it is Cro news.
@Maminjo
Yep
Honestly,Mario Pašalić has done almost nothing to deserve a call up to the National Team. Bradarić too.
I don’t see any point in calling up either player.
There are at least half a dozen other midfielders that deserve a callup over these two.
Hrvati in LA, did anyone see Zlatan’s goals for LA Galaxy, damn.
Ante should have asked Modric and the older players last week if they would be interested in finishing their club careers in MLS.
Caught the Real Madrid game. Halilovic looked to be moving the ball fairly quickly and well. I think he was over dribbling before and not passing quickly enough. He definitely looked decent in my books. Tried to do a bit too much near the end of the game but they were desperate.
Since Rebic got injured in the first half this weekend (calf muscle tear). This might be Halilovic’s opportunity to get back with the Repka. For whatever it’s worth, he’s also our U21s captain.
On another injury side note; I feel like Bradaric will make the World Cup now due to Badelj’s injury. I’m just saying this because Dalic has played Pasalic in advanced roles and not as DMF. Real shame to see a guy like Bradaric there over a guy like Pasalic.
Looked like his calf ?
Mexico match was intense!
Hope it is not long term.
Sretan Uskrs svima.
Hvaljen Isus.
Not sure what happened but seen Rebic was subbed off in 39 th minute today due to injury.
Dino Radja has a funny name.
Is Balic the Croatian Pirlo because of his footballing abilities or his hair? I’m guessing the latter..
@the beast. Thanks for that post. Love Dino great player and well deserved!
Great Split player and Boston Celtic Dino Radja elected to Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!
Croatian Pirlo Andrija Balic got the rare start for Udinese in their lose today
At least Vlasic is making the bench…..right….right….
what a pass by luka, 1-0.
Do throw ins count as assists? If so, Perisic with 2 assists and a goal and Brozo with an assist.
Nice gol. Assisted long distance by Brozo.
Gol Perisic, didn’t see it unfortunately.
