ITALY
Marko Livaja made a rare Serie A appearance for Inter Saturday, coming off the bench in the 78th minute with Inter down 1-0 to Genoa. Inter would quickly equalize through an Esteban Cambiasso header in the 85th, but a golden opportunity to win the game was ruined by the 19 year-old Croatian striker in injury time. A Diego Milito cross flew through the goal box, and with Livaja wide open from two yards out, hit the right post. The game would end 1-1 but Livaja will kick himself for missing a rare Serie A cap, especially after playing so well in the Europa League group stage.
Livaja misses a sitter to win the game
Ante Vukušić was left off the Pescara squad Friday as they defeated Catania 2-1. It is unknown why. With the rare win, Pescara climb two points safe of the relegation zone in Serie A.

Dejan Lovren sent off vs. Nice
As Lyon were cruising to a 3-0 victory over Nice on Saturday, Croatian defender Dejan Lovren picked up a caution in the 78th minute and another one in injury time to earn a red card, after committing a tackle from behind. This is Lovren’s second sending off of the season as Croatian fans have the 23 year-old under a microscope due to his undisciplined play. There was no reason for this tackle so late in the game and rumors have it that Lovren is being looked at by English club Chelsea for a possible winter transfer. If it goes through, this may have been Lovren’s last match for Lyon.

Nikica Jelavić and Everton came back to win again. Two weeks ago it was against Tottenahm. On Saturday, West Ham felt the late game disappointment.
After going down early to a 14′ Carlton Cole strike, Everton fought back to score twice in the second half without suspended Belgian playmaker Marouane Fellaini, who has been the Toffees catalyst this season. Victor Anichebe headed home in the 64′ following a free kick and Steven Pienaar secured the 2-1 victory with a shot from close range in the 73rd minute. Jelavić played the full 90 minutes and came close to scoring on two occasions. He only managed one shot on goal while being flagged for offside five times.
With the win, Everton move up to fifth in the Premiership standings. But remember, Chelsea have one game in hand as they moved to third with a crushing 8-0 win over Aston Villa this weekend.
Mladen Petrić was left off the Fulham squad list in their 4-0 loss to Liverpool on Saturday. Petrić scored last week and has not been reported to have picked up an injury. Let’s see if he returns December 26th vs. Southampton.
SPAIN
It’s going from bad to worse for Real Madrid this season. First, they fall double digits in points behind leaders Barcelona before the New Year even hits. Then, they are drawn with a mighty Manchester United side in the Champions League Round of 16. Now, Jose Mourinho drops world-class goalie Iker Casillas as they lose 3-2 to Malaga on Saturday. Luka Modrić came off the bench for Real Madrid in the 77th minute of play with his side down 3-1. However, Modrić could not fire up his troops even with Karim Benzema cutting the deficit to one in the 82′. Modrić did not have a shot on goal.
With the loss, Real Madrid currently sit third in La Liga; and a whopping 16 points behind Barcelona.
As Ivan Rakitić rests a sprained ankle, Sevilla continue to drop points in Spain, losing 2-1 to Real Sociedad on Thursday. With the loss, Sevilla sit in 14th place with only 19 points from 17 matches. Rakitić is expected back in a few weeks.

Livaja is no better or no worse than Kalinic…the fact he is with Inter Milan just raised his profile a bit among the Croatian media but if you watch him play you know he is pretty useless

@Mali Pipak
Jelavic should have converted his only true chance. He was offisides quite a bit, but in his defense it appears as if he wanted the ball to be played quicker.
For the 2nd Everton game in a row I had to mute the Brit announcers. They were pretty hard on Jelavic but praised Osman constantly, but would not mention when they were dispossessed or had a bad play etc.
One of Jelavic’s offside calls came from when Osman took a couple of extra touches before passing to Jelavic. The touches were unnecessary and caused the offside position.
It seems like many of his goals are from the edge of the box when Pinnear and Baines have forward runs.
Lovren paying it forward.
First, a Croat (Zlatan) jumps on Lovren’s head. Now, Lovren slide tackles a Croat (Cvitanich) from behind.
Stop the Croat on Croat violence!!!!
Jelavic was horrible against west ham, his form has been slipping away like a bar of soap, going to take something to recapture his form from last season, anyhow good luck & i wish him well, stop stinking up the place Nikica
Super Bosko was a clinical finisher at Rijeka…
all those ‘petica’ leagues fucked him up…
hahahha 😀
@capitals55
LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you can throw Ivica Mornar in that bunch
@ Ziva good one Petar Krpan lol why was he on 1998 wc roster lol!
He’s done that a couple time now.
Livaja hasn’t received many chances in Serie A play and with that type of Basko Balaban/Petar Krpan-type of finishing he never will.
Inter potonuo, Livaja promašio s dva metra!
