In one of the most entertaining matches of the year, Ivan Perišić, Ivica Olić and Wolfsburg pushed the former Bundesliga champs to the limit in a 3-3 draw on Saturday. Wolfsburg, however, will be kicking themselves for failing to pick up the full three points after blowing a 3-1 lead. Ivica and Ivan both started and played the full 90 minutes in the draw. Perišić certainly didn’t fail to impress his former employee after twice finding the back of the net. In the 14th minute of play, Olić found Perišić in the box and the former Hajduk prospect didn’t disappoint from close range. Just eight minutes later, Dortmund fans would be wondering why did they ever let go of Perišić as the 24-year-old midfielder would double the lead with a shot just outside the box that looked to have took a deflection. However, Dortmund would battle back with two goals in the final six minutes to escape with a draw.

Srdjan Lakić found the back of the net for consecutive weeks after scoring the equalizer against Werder Bremen on Saturday. The former Kaiserslautern striker was in the right place at the right time to put the ball in the back of an open net just five minutes after the restart. Frankfurt need just one point next week to secure an Europa League spot.

Mario Mandžukić and Bayern Munich celebrated the Bundesliga title in front of 71,000 fans in Munich with a 3-0 win over Augsburg on Saturday. The Bundesliga Giants were presented with the Bundesliga trophy and were crowned Champions of Germany for a 23rd time. Mario started and played 70 minutes for Bayern in the win. the former Dinamo Zagreb star finished with one shot.

Hamburg’s hopes for an Europa Cup spot are still alive following a 4-1 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday. Croatian international, Milan Badelj, started and played the full 90 minutes for Hamburg in the win. Milan played well, was not at fault for the lone goal and assisted on the fourth Hamburg goal. Ivo Iličević looked on from the bench for Hamburg in the win.

Dejan Lovren wasn’t even on the bench to watch PSG clinch the Ligue 1 title following a 1-0 win over Lyon on Sunday. PSG are the Champions of france for the first time in 18 years, while Lovren might not suit up for Lyon the rest of the season. With two games left in the season, Lyon hold a three point lead over Nice and Lille for the final French Champions League spot.
Italy
Marko Livaja continues to make news in Italy. The 19-year-old, former Hajduk Split prospect was suspended for Atalanta’s 2-1 loss to Udinese on Sunday after the team found out that he had punched Serbian teammate Ivan Radovanović. The two players got into it at a training session and Marko was first to react. On Saturday, Marko apologized for his actions. “First of all I want to apologize to the club, the President, the Coach and the rest of the squad,” he told calciomercato.com. “I promise, in the future, I will do right on and off the field. I have decided to open a new page on my career. Again, I was wrong and I want to apologize, but I want to point out that he did not bleed, and I was not laughing after the incident. ” This was the second time this season at Livaja has been suspended by the team.
Radovanović has come forward to reveal what happened between him and the Inter-owned Croatian striker. “After a challenge in the game between ranks, we ended up face to face. Soon after he tried to punch me, but luckily I was turning the other way so he got my jaw. If he had got me square in the face, he’d have broken my nose. I was really upset, as he was like a brother to me and we always went to training together even though we live quite far away. I always tried to advise him, telling him to calm his temperament and transform that into positive energy on the pitch. Marko is a fantastic player, but in terms of his character he has to improve a lot. It hurt me to see him laughing while I went to the medical staff with a bloodied face. People like this don’t belong in football.”

Inter Milan put an end to a three match losing streak but could only manage a nil-nil draw against Genoa on Sunday. Former Dinamo Zagreb midfielder, Mateo Kovačić, started and played the full 90 minutes in the draw. The Croatian international put on another great performance and was one of Inter’s bright spots for the evening. Mateo helped Inter shutout Genoa without committing a foul. Actually, Mateo has not committed a foul in the last six matches. Is that a good sign for a defensive midfielder or has Mateo closed up shop for the rest of the season?
Ante Vukušić looked on from the bench as Pescara fell for the 27th time this season following a 1-0 loss at Catania. The only question now is where will Ante be playing football next season.
UKRAINE
Kalinić goal @ 3:20
Dnipro will be Europa League qualification bound next season after stumbling late in the campaign, but that did not deter them from a 4-2 win over Karpaty on Sunday. Both Ivan Strinić and Nikola Kalinić started for Dnipro, with Kalinić making it 3-0 in the 28th minute. He took the ball down off his face on the penalty spot, controlled with composure and fired away to score one of his few goals this season. Kalinić played the entire match while Strinić was subbed off at halftime. Reports out of Ukraine are saying that Strinić could be moving to Italy in the summer.
Domagoj Vida played the full match in Dynamo Kiev’s 1-0 win over Illichivets on Saturday. Dynamo currently sit in third, three points behind Metalist for the last Champions League berth with two games remaining in the season. Niko Kranjčar remains sidelined due to a knee injury he picked up vs. Serbia on March 22nd.
After making it to the Ukrainian Cup Final earlier in the week, Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk kept up their winning ways with a 5-0 win over Tavriya on Saturday. Captain Darijo Srna played the full 90 minutes in the shutout win while Eduardo watched on from the bench. Shakhtar will take on Chornomorets on May 22nd in the Cup final.

Manager David Moyes will be packing his bags for Manchester. Everton will finish in sixth, missing out on Europe next season. But is there a future for striker Nikica Jelavić at the club? The Croatian frontman was subbed into Everton’s 2-0 win over West Ham on Sunday in the 75th minute, with the game already in hand. He went shot-less in his short 15-minute cameo appearance and has been ice cold in the scoring column this campaign. With a new manager and game plan coming to Merseyside this summer, what kind of role will Jelavić have next season?
With Fulham down 2-1 to Liverpool on Sunday, Mladen Petrić was inserted in the 71st minute off the bench in search of an equalizing goal. Petrić finished the match without a shot and Daniel Sturridge would seal the 3-1 Liverpool win with a late hat trick, sending Fulham to 15th position on the Premier League table.
SPAIN
Luka Modric played the full match as Real Madrid was held by Espanyol to a 1-1 draw. Luka assisted in Real’s only goal, curling in a free kick for Gonzalo Higuain to head in. He completed a game-high 107 passes, and created two chances. Real Madrid will hope to avoid a trophy-less season when they play Atletico Madrid in the Copa Del Rey final on Friday.

Ivan Rakitic started for Sevilla in their 0-0 stalemate with Malaga on Sunday. Ivan missed two opportunities from headers as Sevilla were unable to break the deadlock. He also created one chance and made 37 passes. With three matches remaining, Sevilla are in 8th, one spot and five points from qualifying for Europe.
RUSSIA
Vedran Corluka and Dario Kresic started for Lokomotiv Moscow as league leaders CSKA Moscow routed them 4-1. The loss puts Loko out of European contention and Slaven Bilic’s and Corluka’s futures into question.
Stipe Pletikosa started between the pipes for Rostov as they held current runner-ups Zenit St. Petersburg to a 1-1 draw.
Tomislav Dujmovic was brought off the first half of Mordovia Saransk’s 2-1 loss to Rubin Kazan on Friday. He was subbed off in the 41st minute and his coach said after the match that his play was “disgusting”.
Ognen Vukojevic was left on the bench in Spartak Moscow’s 1-1 draw to Kryliya Sovetov.

~Ante Kvartuč and Denis Svirčić reporting from sunny Southern California, Zach Gilfix reporting from Minneapolis, MN
Ivica A: “I have no beef with Bosnjaci. The ones I’ve met in my life have been pretty decent.
My only problem is that even though they are culturally more like us, they insist on associating with third world muslims from places like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Somalia, etc.”
——————————————————————————
Even as an anonymous poster on the internet, you resort to “culturally” instead of just stating the obvious that they are the same race and even (for the most part) the same ethnicity.
I agree that Bosnians associating with non-white Muslims more than White Christians is retarded, but how is that different from White Catholics associating with non-white Catholics more so than other White Christian sects or other non-Christian Whites?
You may say “oh, but the Bosnians were FORCE converted”. How is that different from the fact A LOT of Europeans were FORCE converted into Christianity? Ever hear of the Inquisition and the Crusades?
And to those of you who say Bosnians “should convert back”; should Croatians “convert back” to Zoroastrianism -the original monolithic Aryan/white religion which spawned Judaism and Christianity?
Just as Zoroastrianism got distorted and became multi-CULT and therefore weak and vulnerable to Turkic-Islamic invasion in Persia, so too has Christianity become distorted and multi-CULTIST -hence the non-white invasions (albeit not militarily, but by TRAITORS who open the gates) of White homelands.
If the Catholic church told many of you to jump off a bridge, you’d do it. Meanwhile, Jesus himself was in direct and uncompromising opposition to the ESTABLISHED CHURCH of his time.
Def lacking a sense of urgency in that 2nd leg against Turkey. Forgot about the team they fielded too. Whats with us sucking against Turkey when they field most of their subs?! First Euro 2008, and then the 2nd leg of that playoff against them too!
@Poglavnik
Exactly, there were no surprises at all.
“Everything was laid out on the table for us in plain view and we knew the rules ahead of time and what we needed to do.”
To put this is context, if we beat Turkey in Zagreb, and the Turks were missing 5 or 6 starters for that game, than we knock off the first two steps out of the three steps that I listed above. We beat Turkey and avoid Italy in our group. There is the two scenarios avoided.
There was not the same sense of urgency in the return leg. It felt like we were just playing the game out for a tie. I thought it was a mistake at the time and I still do. To bring in Jelavic in the 78th minute and Eduardo in the 88th minute sums it up for me. It was not too much to ask to beat the Turks in the second game.
Bilic did a great job as coach, but it can be said that he played certain games too cautiously. At least in my eyes.
“It’s me, it’s me, it’s DDP!”
@DDP (Mr.Diamond Cutter)
Im sure the team was fully aware of the circumstances for those games. Obviously it’s easier said than done though.
@Croatia vs. Antwerp
“Knowing our luck that doesn’t surprise me. We were in the same group as the finalists in Euro 2012.”
This had nothing to do with luck as in life you make your own luck and everything was in our own hands! There is no excuse for not going for the jugular against Turkey in the second leg of our playoff series in Zagreb! We would have had much better odds of an easier group if we win that game. This is something we knew well in advance. Now, these groups were not easy, but there is a negative pattern here.
We were in control of our own destiny in all instances and when you wait until the last game to make a difference this is what happens. Against Spain in Euro 2012 the fix was in and in the Under 17 Euro the BS with Russia and Italy happens!
It is our fault that in Euro 2012 we did not go for the jugular against Italy for if we win that game we go to the playoff round. I don’t know about you but that is all I need to know. By the same token, it was not too much to ask to beat Russia or Italy in the Under 17’s prior to the Ukraine game. I am not saying that the horrid/cheating officiating against Spain was fair or the Under 17 BS with Italy and Russia was fair. It was the opposite of fair but it should have never come to that scenario.
No guts, no glory! Everything was laid out on the table for us in plain view and we knew the rules ahead of time and what we needed to do. We were way too cautious from the 75th minute onward against the Italians in Euro 2012 and should have beaten at least Italy or Russia in the Under 17’s prior to the game with Ukraine. End of story.
In summary:
– Beat Turkey in the second game in Zagreb to get a better group for Euro 2012.
– Go for the victory against the Italians in the second game of Euro 2012 to get a direct playoff berth. (maybe easier said than done but from what I witnessed it was quite feasible)
– Beat either Italy or Russia in the Under 17 2013 Euros to seal the deal in advancement.
People will say that this is all wishful thinking. How is this wishful thinking? One of those three scenarios should have happened. Was it too much to ask to have one of those three scenarios happen? No friggin way, not on my watch!
@Ante that is no consolation for me
good for perisic. he was always better than those polish and german midfielders in dortmund. the dortmund coach is a huge loser too.
@Iggy
Lets hit some Mujos as well bro
Why didnt Marko get praise for hitting a serb? i dont see any problem ?
This time they wont be playing for a tie thats for sure.
@ Ante
Knowing our luck that doesn’t surprise me. We were in the same group as the finalists in Euro 2012.
If it’s any consolation to our U-17 team, the two teams in Croatia’s group, Russia and Italy, will be playing in the Final…
And another thing that kids father is a Mujo. You should known that in our region it is the father that makes the big decisions in a household. His dad will ask him to choose Bosna and he will.
@MatesicMethod
I offer you the same deal. Why dont you help poor white kids down south. You know do something productive for your own for once. However, being a teacher in NYC most certainly means you are a Marxist.
I think he is done. Basically two years now of him doing nothing on the field. Bringing in guys whose careers are washed up is not the way to go.
@NEW JERSEY
THAT’S A REALY STUPID COMMENT THAT YOU MADE. LISTEN IF YOU LOVE NON WHITES SO MUCH I WILL PAY FOR A ONE WAY PLANE TRIP FOR YOU TO ANY AFRICAN COUNTRY OF YOUR CHOICE…..ITS ON ME BUD GO ENJOY THOSE DISEASED COUNTRIES.
why not Ziva? I don’t really follow the HNL too closely but from my outside the loop opinion he could probably do some damage in the HNL and for Rijeka
Klasnic coming to Rijeka would not suprise me. HNL is the home for washed players who were once something as they attempt to get one last pay day.
Reports of Ivan Klasnic signing for Rijeka are surfacing today. More to come in the HNL report that will eventually be posted today. Promise.
^ love the new album
Dala Bosna Tomislava kralja
Prvog kralja od loze Hrvata
A kraljica dobra bješe Katarina,
U narodu zbog nje nosi se crnina.
Sred Duvanjskog polja široka i ravna
Pisala se tamo naša povijest slavna.
Kada Bosni pogledaš u lice
U suzi joj vidiš Drinske mučenice
Čuvali te, Bosno, usamljeni vuci
Slavio ih narod, zvali se hajduci
A srebrnu Bosnu sačuvaše vjerom
Franjevačka braća i dušom i tijelom.
Bosna moja, čija li si sada?
Boli li te danas više nego prije?
tko to misli da te ima,
Da sa tobom vlada
Njega povijest ništa naučila nije.
Jučer svetinja, danas raspeta
Bosna ponosna, ranjena
Tamo gdje sunce putuje
Vjetar nosi glas, Bosna zove nas
Tamo gdje sunce putuje
tu me čekaj ti stara ljubavi.
Kreni preko planina,
Starom stazom djedova
Bosna će ti reći sve,
odakle nam prezime.
@dannyj I think we will qualify and I think he will get some playing time, and depending on how well he develops by then it may be a little or a lot! The best part for Alen is he is at a great age to start his NT career. 18 for his first WC means he could conceivably play in 5: 2014 he’ll be 18, 2018 = 22, 2022 = 26, 2026 = 30, 2030 = 34!!!
And 4 Euros: 2016 he’ll be 20, 2020 = 24, 2024 = 28, 2028 = 32
4 Euros and 5 WCs… he could possibly have an amazing career for the NT, it’s timed just right for him!
@maestic
The church does not approve of your yoga. Your so funny.
if halilovic picks cro, do you guys think he has the goods already to play in brazil if indeed we qualify?
@ jack
It’s unfortunate that some Croatians were seduced by Ottoman Coins and converted. They should now convert back to their rightful faith.
Looking good on Halilovic 2.0?

Does anyone know the details of the retroactive taxing of personal boats/cars that were shipped to Croatia?
Does the full VAT apply?
Znam da je u Bosni PDV 17% za sviju zato sto zivim vamo haha a u neumu i medugorju sav porez ide za hrvatsku ako ce te vjerovat.
Some Croats turned their backs on Jesus for a tax break. It was part of the Ottoman’s soft Jihad on the Balkans.
It is as simple as that.
the bosanci are croats, who sadly were not able to hold off the muslim invasion. where croatia succeeded they failed. perhaps one day they can be converted back. arguably croatia should have continued during the oluja into bosna to take over the croatian regions. of course, nato would not have approved that so they were forced to stop and they risked running into direct confrontation with the full yugoslav army
Domoljublje prozvali fašizam–tako brane njihov komunizam, prozirna, demagogija.
I have no beef with Bosnjaci. The ones I’ve met in my life have been pretty decent.
My only problem is that even though they are culturally more like us, they insist on associating with third world muslims from places like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Somalia, etc.
Now you’ve suddenly got Wahhabism movement in Bosna calling for all non muslims to pay a 10% tax?
Man, I hope this is just an isolated case of one crazy dude because that’s messed up.
Safe to say the history of Croatia may be a little deeper than the cognitive capacities of some of our Mali Po Sranci decki who post their worn out fascist ideologies.
The real issue beyond most of us here not having clue who they are and where they come from is where are we going?
Croatian core ethos needs to evolve and create innovative new ideas of how we can prosper as a community within a global context.
Apologies to all the Zemljaci who pollute this site on a regular basis your time is over.
I’m with Ziva on this. FK seems pretty well spoken, and he’s putting himself out there.
@ziva well said.
and no im not a yugo fag… u probably are and u just dont know it cuz u know nothing of your history or culture. I’m just not an idiot who posts politically incorrect biased opinions on a site. The conflict in the balkans wudnt have happened if ” how bout you guys just all convert back” wud actually work. much more complicated. anyway… how bout that champions league?
Ba bilo svakavi sranja.
@Ziva
If he converts he is welcome.
Boban said “the Serbs are our brothers in Christ, but the Muslims are nothing to us, apart from the fact that for hundreds of years they raped our mothers and sisters.”
Where there…….fucken ipad
Good lord…..let the dude comment if he wants. Guy painted you his family history. I think some of you couldn’t point to BiH or even Hrvatska on a map.
Where their muslimani who fought against Hrvati in the last war???? There were. But, there were also muslimani who sided with hrvati. Depending on what part of Bosna you are from, there were some places where the muslimani helped out and other places where they didn’t it.
Zeljo seems OK to me. He’s not on here talking about a greater Bosna.
Well done CSR for putting up that pic of Boban at Maksimir.
Why dont all of you convert already?
Amazing, not only do we have to deal with people like Sammir and DaSilva on the NT. We now have Bosnian fans here. WTF
Anon=Yugo Fag
@zeljeznicar You seem like an intelligent guy. Some people on here could learn stuff from you.
Oprosti sto sam poceo ovaj convo…. uvjek se svrsi sa svadom..
@zeljeznicar just keep your name the way it is not a big deal to anyone. Ljepo je da ima ljudi iz evrope koji dodu na ovaj site
The Muslims in Bosnia are not our friends or allies. They were forced into Union with us by the Clinton administration.
They represent a group that turned on their own people and traditions. They are a Turkish suburb. Fuck them!!!

Remember Mate Boban!!!!!!!
You speak of unity because your population is not very large and you can claim to be humane or rational muslims but history and the behavior of other muslim populations in or around Europe speaks a different story. If you want peaceful realtions this will never happen with Turkey on your shoulder.
Back to their Sjever.
13.5.1990. The day Boban kicked back. To some this day marked the day of the start of the Domovinaki Rat.
Let’s remember all of the BBB as well as the other fan groups in Croatia who answered the call of a crying nation and never returned back to their beloved sacrifice. Let us remember them today. Amen
BBB BOG I KONJICA
NEK NAM ZIVI DINAMO I MAJKA HRVATSKA!!!
And if you don’t understand Croat that good I will say in English I favor Bosnia- Herzegovina cause I grew up in Sarajevo. It will always be my country, but I sway towards Croat-Bosnian unity because the last time I checked Catholics and “turks” share a Federation so we are in the same boat.
Hrvatska je normalno jaca od Bosne? Vidi koliko sranja mi moramo trpit? vi dobijete jednog Cetnika i ljutite se, u nasoj zemlji pola su cetnici a mi i Hrvati i pravoslavci ne mozemo ih istjerat zato sto nam politika neda. I nikad necemo imati priliku da budemo mocni. Jedino imamo nadu u Fudbalu.
I zato moramo imati sloznost.
Although fkZELJEZNICAR are you a Mujo?
@Anon
Well, what Ivo wrote although garble looking is the truth. They are little Turkey and so need to be kept at a distance.
Ima i muslimana koji se osjecaju hrvatski…ali nema ih puno.
There are also croatian bosnians…so i guess what I’m trying to say is some people on this site are a lil hard on em.
other then that i agree with most that’s said on here. That post by Ivo is ridiculous…
@fkZELJEZNICAR
Nice to see people from Hrvatska keep up with us.
@ziva
San Pedro soccer tournament still on, but just barely.
Bosnians below…Never forget!!!

In mid-2012 the Turkish Premier boldly declared that Bosnia-
Bosnia is turning into a muslim suburb of Turkey. You are loseing your Europeaness and we would like nothing to do with you anymore.
Herzegovina is an Ottoman heritage and he added that “‘Bosnia is entrusted [emanet] to you [Turkey]. Don’t leave this region”, as supposedly the late Alija Izetbegovic told him in confidence in 2003. In sort Turkey claims a sort of a De Facto status of guarantee power in Bosnia-Herzegovina, one that has not been subject to any international or regional treaty but based on interpersonal relations and subjective interpretation of local history.
@fkZELJEZNICAR
Go back to Mujo land!!!
I love this site. Its cool how all of you stay in touch in that crazy country haha. Mnogo vas puno znate o repki Hrvatske i saznam neke stvari sto nisam znao. I nekad se dobro nasmijem. I nisam “mujo” a balija pogotovo. Vehabije ocima nemogu gledat. I mozda sam ja najveci Ustasa od vas… haha neki sam dan bio u Jajcu i kuci gdje se je Pavelic rodio. Ha eto vidis cudna stvar
@ ziva: haha thanks.. sigurno ste bili u Sarajevu. I agree. Gdje zivis u Americi? ja sam studira na University of Minnesota 2 godine.
@FKZeljo………….You are correct. The average person in the former Yugo is sick of nationalism. The sports fans and their actions represent the minority. But, we in the diapsora still cling to nationalism. So, don’t you come on here telling us how we can or can not act and think. Don’t you know we have hard core ustase on these boards…..you know, they claim to be hrvati because they cheer for cro, wear a jersey and can almost pronounce “dobar dan”. Now you go settle down, walk over to Hodzic and order some cevape.
Ja zivim u Sarajevu a vi u Americi. Lako je kad dodjete puni para is SAD-a i probate nacionalizam. If you dont understand in Croatian i will say it in English. Nationalism is not cool. And if it really interests you Halilovic will play for Croatia. However nobody thinks da je on”ustasa” bas ti nije fazon

@Ano, the play by play guy is actually good at it, but he’s a rookie in soccer and doesn’t seem to know the game. The color commentator seems to know what he’s talking about, but lacks command of English. So yes, I agree w/ your point they ain’t qualified.
@Stipe, right on brother, we should be recruiting non-whites who want to play for Croatia “100%”! Maybe we can build a multicultural army like Jim Jones and conquer Bosnia and Serbia! So long as they speak our “language” and adopt our “culture” and are “catholic” of course. You see “I don’t see skin colour”, so I wouldn’t even notice if Croatia became non-white, because I only see “language”, “culture”, and “religion”.
@T.O. Cro wow that was crazy! thanks for sharing
@Stipe
If he wants Bosnia good riddance to him and Laknat.
@Croatia vs Antwrep
Looks like the beautiful people come from Zagreb. Very nice.
Check out the crazy ending to this game…

http://www.croatiaweek.com/melita-fabecic-new-miss-universe-croatia/
Yea it would be nice for Halilovic to play for us, but then again, if 10% of him wants to play for Bosna (put together country) then fuckkkk him. We don’t need him. In my opinion, if you want to play for Bosna, your a Muslim, that’s that. I know that there are some Hrvati i Srbin who play for the Bosna National Team (put together country) you know what, they are fakes. Fuck those mudžahedinima, naši izgubili u Tursku Euro 2008. Svi Bosanci su pjevali i podizanje zastave Turski drivivng oko grada. So fuck Halilovic, let him go play for a country who supports Jihad. Fuckin cocksukers.
Fuck the Mujos…..send them to turkey to get raped again.
Croatia didn’t handle business in the first two games, there is no question, but that doesn’t excuse Italy and Russia from just standing around for 10 minutes. That is despicable behavior and I hope it bites them in the ass. If they had come to an honorable 1-1 draw I’d have no qualms with the outcome. It is just the way they went about it.
The GOD OF HALILOVIC and KOVACIC
Both must have play for that game !!
The two niggers that called the FA cup are not qualified to call the champions league final.
They didn’t deserve to make the Semis. They scored a mere two goals and wasted too many chances.
Overall they played good. And I think this crop of young players will yield more than 3 guys that will make an impact on Senior level.
For the WC, they have the quality to make the quarterfinals.
I wouldn’t say they dominated those games and I also wouldn’t say they didn’t deserve to go home. They controlled a good portion of the play, but not being able to score negates any control in possession advantage. Good result even getting this far and a very good result making it to the World Cup. The mujo (Halilovic) looked good, really good. The other MF from Cro who has had much spoken/written about him (Basic) didn’t stand out.
I don’t expect much from this team at the World Cup based on one reason. In previous trips by our youth teams to major tournaments the preparations have been comical. Everything from lack of games and practice time going into the tourney, plus the clubs not handing over the players until the very last minute or not at all.
One thing that usually comes out after an elimination at the youth level is the complaints by the parents/managers of the players, especially by those whose kid did not get much playing time. I don’t know if we will hear much this time around because we didn’t play bad and didn’t lose any matches, so its really hard to bitch about the coaching staff. But, hearing the comments from the parents/managers is always comical as they make excuses for their kids.
@Ziva
Cut Cro some slack. They did handle business in those games against Russia and Italy. They were just very unlucky that both games ended in a draw.
They dominated all three games, and finished in a three-way tie for first. But unfortunately, sometimes things don’t always go your way, even when you do all the right things.
They’re just frustrated because they didn’t deserve to go home. It’s understandable.
@ Mate Cleveland
Once BiH is returned to the Realm, and the population proselytized to Catholicism, we will have even more players to fuel our national team.
Ahhh, the gold ole days of King Kresimir IV….
🙂
and now the cro media and cro coaches are accusing Italy and Russia of not practicing “fair play”over their 1-1 tie. What a bunch of babies. If you are the coach of Italy and Russia and the score is 1-1 late and that is the result that carries you into the semis, why on earth would you do anything to impact that. Sounds to me those are smart coaches for Italy and Russia.
Sour grapes by our coaches. If they would have taken care of business in either of the first two games this would have been avoided.
I don’t watch U17 level soccer to know who should or should not be a favorite. Usually its either based on reputation or having a big name. So, nobody knows. All I know is this, we played 3 games and only scored one goal in open play. So, that is not something where we can go back and say we deserved to make the semis.
In the youth ranks, the general expectation is that 3 guys will make an impact going forward with the senior side. Anything more then 3 is a bonus.
u know what else is big ?
MY COCK
Big time accomplishment to have our 17u in the World Cup this Fall. They will gain good experience against the worlds best young athletes.
Add the the 20u cup this June and our national program will be prime for a run for Brazil 2014.
You need some young legs when you go to the World Cup. In the past we have carried too many guys past their prime.
From bosnia not hercegovina
Mujo also has croatian putovnica he is also a bosnian croat
And another thing is a croatian Bosnian and a mujo as ziva affectionately puts it. If any of those guys are from Hercegovina they’ll play for Croatia. Tried and true
If your Bosnian you have a Craotian passport and are a croat remeber that! LOL
I hope that’s true about the 14 guys especially if they hold croatian passports, actually means they might give a damn. Ali suljic seems a little suspicious though.
I looked through the rosters of Sweden Austria and Switzerland just thinking that they’d most likely have croatian diaspora. I think alot of those players might just be from the Balkans, not specifically Croatia. Could be wrong though
So we are in agreement, he didn’t live up to expectations from Cro media. My main point is that they put needless pressure on the kid.
Yes, third is a good result–not excellent. But they made the U-17 WC. And I’m confident they will improve.
@Ziva
No, uefa.con
@ Mate Cleveland
Re: your comment about diaspora youth…
It turns out that there are 14 players of Croatian origin that don’t play for Croatia (in this 8-team U17 tournament alone).
http://www.croatiaweek.com/uefa-euro-u-17-the-croatian-passport-holders-playing-for-other-nations/
Not sure how valid this report above is, but if players like Sweden’s Ali Suljic (who is likely to be bought by Chelsea) and others have Croatian heritage, then they are definitely worth a look.
It’s absolutely insane how much soccer talent Croatians have, regardless of where they are born. On a percentage basis, I don’t think there is any ethnicity that is on par with us.
Pre tournament expectations?? By who… Cro media and fans Al always have unrealistic expectations….3rd is a good result.
Danijel Subasic return with Monaco to the first division in France. He played the entire game for Monaco in their 0-1 win against Nimes.
Croatia vs. Antwerp
I don’t know about this other halfs. I didn’t see a game of our U17 but I know it’s hard to live up to the expeactions. Even players like Messi and Christiano Ronaldo don’t make the difference every game.
That’s one half out of a total of 6 halfs in the tournament. He should have played like that in every game. Just saying he didn’t live up to pre-tournament expectations, where Croatian media where making him out to be god..
Damn iPhone, I’m going back to my flip phone with Internet access. Halo love is iPhone for halilovic. I guess they don’t recognize muslim
It was an ok outcome for the u17 but I have to feel a little disappointed since they were favorites to get out of the group. The coach mentioned last game some of the players were being too selfish and that was part of the problem. Halo love having 10 of 17 shots probably tells you who he was talking about. Another case of the best player trying to do too much (sammir in CL for dinamo), never works.
Still a really good generation though, roguljic, brodic, Mamic, halilovic and maybe a few others. Maybe we ll even pick up some of the diaspora youth as well (look at Switzerland and austrias roster)
Halilovic really played well
Copy paste from uefa.com U17 :
It turned into the Halilović show after the break as the goalscorer produced countless outstanding runs but shot at least five times off target. The winner did not seem like coming, until late on when a cross from the right fell to Murić, and his deflected effort wrongfooted the Ukrainian goalkeeper to renew hope.
with a three game sample set a lot of things can happen. you can’t fault the young hrvati too much for not getting through. they didn’t lose a game and had the same record as italy and russia. a little luck their way and they could have easily advanced it seems, but there is always a probability spectrum of outcomes in sports. on a positive note, it seems the mean of that spectrum is toward good results
Modric starting today for Real. He’s playing as deep lying playmaker. Last match he was central attacking mid, and the match before that he was deep lying playing maker.
Modric is excelling in both positions, which very few mids can do. Plus he’s secured a spot in the starting 11.
Exactly these are just kids and it’s the first time they faced high stakes matches at tourney. Take the pressure off and they go far.
They are still kids and this generation will grow
Too many misses and i think when croatia get too much compilments and expectations we fail but when no one expects nothing they give us something
@ Chupe, Halilovic was the second striker, and was supposed to strike.
He had the liscence to roam and shoot, but missed targets today.
Back to the A selekcija team to play Scotland IMO
Pletikosa Srna Joe Sifo Strinic Rebic Rakitic Kovacic Perisic Ola Mandzo.
We will do well in U-17 World Cup. This tourney was a tune up for the main event, and it’s a learning experience for the lads.
i hate the 1 striker up top i miss the day of 2 strikers
LOL
Well, at least there is a bright side, even though in today’s game we had 12 off target shots… Pretty sad when you think about that stat…
Go the the World Cup in October and secure the world title. Hopefully Halilovic will accept Stimac’s call up for the Scotland game next month.
Halilovic missed the target over 10 times. The kid totally failed to live up to the hype.
We got tons the talent under 22, and I think the media is putting too much pressure on the kid. Just let him play and develop.
Croatian defense and goalie were solid, as they conceded one goal in whole tourney. We just need to get the offense firing and we will be fine.
Anybody know of these players will be allowed to play in the u17 world cup in November? I know its during club season time
Bravo 2-1 pobjeda idemo u polufinale sretno decki mamic got a red card good left back prospect
Yea we do. Top-3 from each group goes to the worlds.
I think we still qualify for the worlds, no? Top 6 team?!?!
Gotovo.
Croatia are out.
Halilovic picks Bosna. 😉
Mamic sent off.
Italy and Ruassia. Tie game…
Mamic sent off.
I forgot that there are only 80min in these games.
This is over. Italy & Russia are in injury time.
@ CroatHrvat
Correct. Annoying. Crowd whistling… To be expected as they both go through with this result.
We have only ourselves to blame for being in this situation…
The fans are booing but nothing they can do. Very frustrating to see.
Italy and Russia playing for the draw. Italy haven’t lost the ball in ages, just passing it around back four literally.
Croatia up 2-1. But I’m afraid it’s too little, too late. As Russia and Italy are 1-1.
Muric made the 1-2
Unless there’s a winner in the Italy v Russia game, Croatia are out
It’s a shame if Italy/Russia end up in a draw.
I was hoping this U17 team would take the tournament and convince lil’ Halilovic that this was the way to go.
2-1 Croatia
Both games are a tie.
Halilovic has taken 13 of the 17 shots Croatia have had.
10 minutes to go.
russia and italy tying would be the worse outcome correct? any links to the games?
@ T.O.
Not that I’m aware of
is there a link to the cro game?
Russia beating Italy 1-0, and Croatia must win to progress.
Halilovic nets a penalty on the stroke of half time. 1-1 . . .
Halilovic scores! Finally showing glimpses of the hype.
Vukcevic will never reach the level to be considered for the repka…….
Any word on Boris Vukčević’s rehabilitation and whether or not he’ll make a full recovery from that head injury?
It’s been quite a while since the last update on that. Can’t really find anything online on him.
The U17’s 1-0 down early. They must win this match.
Some other Croatian players in Germany :
Lakic played 90 minutes and their draw 1-1 against Werder Bremen. Lakic scored for Frankfurt.
Pavlovic didn’t play for Bremen.
Mandzukic played 70 minutes in their 3-0 win against Augsburg. Mario didn’t score
Badelj beat Hoffenheim with 1-4. Badelj played the whole game.
Freiburg won 1-2. Saintini played the last 13 minutes. He didn’t manage to score.
Sliskovic played about 25 minutes against Gladback. He didn’t score while Hrgoata scored 3 times.
Already know : Wolfsburg 3-3 against Dortmund. Perisic scored 2 and played for 80 minutes while Olic didn’t score but he played the whole game.
Good to see Perisic steps up. We will need him against Scotland when Modric and Krancjar will not play.
no bosanac (muslim) would ever carry the sveti ime branimir. croatian king ace.
@majstore unfortunately he hasn’t played for our u21s like he said he would and has continued to play for Swedish u21s… at this point I am thinking he won’t join us
Hrgota is a Croat and I think he’d be interested in choosing Cro over Sweden.
There were a few articles about him last summer and since then I have been following him, but he hasn’t produced much in terms of goals until today’s output.
http://www.vecernji.hr/sport/vijesti/branimir-ce-biti-bolji-ibrahimovica-clanak-451848
THE GOD OF HALILOVIC only for our future !!
then don’t talk much for another potential player..
@jm correct he great up in Sweden but was born in what is now Bosna. Has Croatian and Swedish citizenship. Said he was going to play for our u21 squad but so far has only played for Swedish youth teams
Yeah, nice to see Perisic Back! And what a way to come back against his old club. Let’s hope he found his form and this continues.
Let’s hope mini-Vatreni make it through to the Semis.
@ nepoznat is hrgota bosnian or croatian? looks like he grew up in sweden right?
nice to see perisic back in action. that’s an assist last game and two goals this game. i still always have hope for him as the young guy with potential that can realize it the soonest and help the nt. hope he continues the good comeback form
wow what a show by Ivan! I’m sure some extra motivation playing his old club didn’t hurt!
And I heard that Hrgota (potential Croatian NT player) scored a hat trick:
http://www.whoscored.com/Matches/621417/Live/Germany-Bundesliga-2012-2013-Mainz-05-Borussia-MGladbach
Olić with the assist on one of the goals.
Perišić with two goals so far against Dortmund. 40th minute of the first half.
Has anyone heard about Nikica Jelavic’s future at Everton now that Moyes will be leaving? Jelavic had a bad season by his standards but it was not completely awful. Come on Niki just score a hat trick and bring your tally to double digits for the season.
similar vid tot he one we all loved abitu serbs being smashed
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBaJZDTnB7g
nice hey
must be made from the same guy
