It was a relatively quiet week in Germany for the Croatians. However, defender Marin Pongračić is really showing his ability since the restart to the season. The 22 year-old Pongračić played all 90 minutes in central defense as his Wolfsburg side defeated Werder Bremen 1-0 on Sunday. The win lifts Wolfsburg to 6th place in the Bundesliga with only four matches remaining in the season. Wolfsburg’s highest possible finish on the Bundesliga table is sixth, which would give them the last Europa League berth. Josip Brekalo also played the full 90 for Wolfsburg and was given a 7.1 grade from FotMob for his efforts. Brekalo has been cold since the restart of the Bundesliga season.
Ivan Perišić played the last 25 minutes of Bayern Munich’s 4-2 win over Leverkusen. He still hasn’t been introduced to the Bayern starting XI since the restart. Bayern only need six points in the last four matches of the Bundesliga season to lock up the title. Andrej Kramarić returned from injury as Hoffenheim drew Dusseldorf 2-2 on Saturday. Kramaric played 19 minutes of the second half in his return. Tin Jedvaj and Augsburg drew Koln 1-1 on Sunday. Jedvaj played the full 90 minutes in central defense.
@Rob
Pongracic has had like 4 good games in a row now.
He scored a few goals and has shown to be a very big, strong and (surprisingly) fast defender. This is all coming right after he joined a solid club in a bigger league that he was playing in last season.
The fact that our two CB positions have been a bit of a weakness of ours for the majority of these past 20 years, is the reason most of us are talking about him.
We’ve been kind of spoiled with all of our creative midfielders that has come up in the pipeline…so whenever a defender comes up, it gets extra attention.
The problem is the negroes of America are to racist and George Soros and his minions know they can get these negroes to do their bidding anytime they want.
Soros is the puppet master and the stupid negroes do his bidding.
The solution is simple, the American negroes have to forget that slavery happened, that’s a world that doesn’t exist anymore, move on and look to the future and stop starting shit because you couldn’t make it to the NBA, NFL or MLB.
BLM is a way for negroes that didn’t make it in the aforementioned sports to make money, it’s a fucking scam.
Just because this Pongracic kid has one good game doesn’t mean he’s the next Messi. If he plays consistently well then we can start talking about him.
Very sensible comments maminjo. Solutions are not clear. It’s a process. Education is the key. And of course economic reform. Media stir things up. Racism is certainly still a problem but the bigger problems are rooted in all forms of social degradation, this effects people of all colours. Certainly black people are still largely the worst effected. Not surprising when you see the historical context. Sensible and compassionate discourse is the way
@Crnkovic
The big issue is one that doesn’t have a solution.
It’s a human grievance that can never be repaid.
It would be like trying to have Turkey pay reparations to Greece and other Southeastern European nations for what they did to them over a span of several centuries under Ottoman rule.
That dude from BET suggested that the US needs to apologize for slavery and pay a 14 trillion dollar amount to Black Americans. That would be about $400,000 per person in the US. But honestly, it’s impossible to monetize something like this (and ensure the most affected people benefit from it the most).
Cops kill 1,000 people per year (I believe something around 250 of them are black).
It’s a poor rate compared to other developed and democratic countries, no doubt. Not sure how many of those are unarmed, but it’s still a high amount.
But what can you do?
Defund the police? Pay reparations? Give money to black programs? Replace cops with community policing?
There is a pretty decent representation of minorities in the police force, and I haven’t heard of any outwardly racist police policies (maybe just unwritten ones, but it’s hard with a lot of minority cops in there).
They definitely need to reduce the military mentality (and have a more relaxed European style to policing), but what do I know.
Over a dozen innocent people have died in these riots (and more will probably die from catching COVID) and I don’t really see anything that will come out of this other than ‘creating awareness’ (which is something most of us are already aware of).
Neither side will be satisfied after all this is done. Many people will associate the protesters as creating havoc without regard, and protesters will not get what they are looking for (since most probably unsure of the changes they would like to see implemented).
As a crnac Croat, I’d like to hear your input.
you’re talking about a handful of people taking advantage of a situation. always going to happen. it’s not the big issue here
I actually agree with the Cetinićka. I agree with her 100%. She should’ve kept it to her self. I live in NJ right by New York. Them brothas love them Jordan’s. So do I. But I ain’t stealing. But what she correct.
I’m just messing around
@Andrej-Thanks for the honest assessment. That is some high praise for Pongracic. I need to watch more Pongracic.
@Maminjo-For most, bulking up means a reduction in speed. Let’s hope Brekalo can bulk up the right way.
Yea, Brekalo is slight.
He doesn’t seem to be that strong and physical. His technical ability and creativity more than makes up for it.
Like Slavonac said…
He’ll be better once he ‘bulks up’ and has the power to be able to back his opponent up into the box.
Brekalo attracting interest from serie A clubs AC Milan and Atalanta reportedly.Would be nice to see him pair up with Pasalic and join the free flowing Atalanta who play attractive offensive football compared to most serie A sides.
25 million valuation
Breaklo was decent.
Couldve had an assist. Squared a ball nicely in the box late that was shot right at the goalie.
Hes like Halilovic with a better attitude.
A little light on the ball, good 1v1 skills, not much of a defender.
Great game by Pongracic; dude looks like Robert Kovac with better dribbling skills thank Niko Kovac.
Brekalo was threatening at times but did make rookie mistakes, gets knocked off the ball too easily, and needs a better effort on defence too.
That Serb Kardashian wanna be was brought up a few days ago iggy.
Is the time difference 3 days behind in Sydney?
6,54 on who scored isn’t a “bad” rating.
Missed the Wolfsburg game, but see that Pongracic was rated highly, and that Brekalo was rated poorly.
Did Brekalo really play that poorly or was it a bad rating by whoscored?
I expected Brekalo would dominate against lowly Werder Bremen.
At this point, I am starting to wonder, do I rate him to highly?
Behind Vlasic, I have him as my 2nd best player under 23 yo. Perhaps my algorithm is too heavily skewed to weigh “Take ons”
disproportionately.
She looks like a pretty average balkan bimbo to me. Nothing on our Croatian women.
Pongracic, Caleta-Car and Benkovic should all be taking those steps over these next two years. They’re all at that age now.
Vida and Lovren are still the starters, but can easily drop out if either of them do not play first team football anymore.
This will only happen if two things occur:
#1. Lovren or Vida lose their starting place at their clubs; AND
#2. Pongracic and these other defenders keep getting a lot of hype in the news for their amazing play
I can see Lovren receiving a lot of leeway from Dalic because he’s been or CB since Dalic was named coach. But if it gets to a point where he’s not starting at all anymore, and a guy like Pongracic keeps trending online because of his solid play…it would be hard to ignore.
All it would take is for Lovren to make one Lovren-mistake for people to start calling for a change in the starting eleven.
If that happens, I can see Lovren retiring and not wanting to play backup.
He’s in the conversation to be in the starting 11.
Great game by Pongracic. The question is when the premier league resumes will Lovren be able to start and play well—and match Pongracic!?
Another good game from Pongracic.
Chetnik bitch as right though
Tea Katai is pretty damn hot though 🙂
Let her off the hook!
Keeping with the theme of the article I recently posted, two of the most hyped talents in Croatia played for Dinamo today in their 3-1 win over Varazdin. Josko Gvardiol played the full 90 and Antonio Marin came on very late in the game and sealed the win with a goal. I’m really hoping they both pan out to be pretty decent players. They both fit so well. Gvardiol as a left-footed ball playing defender and Marin as a tall, quick, and skillful winger. We could see a deadly duo of Brekalo and Marin on the wings IF they develop properly. That is always the problem. IF. I have high hopes for these two and many many other young players, but we have sooooo many that we only need a few to pan out.
Serbs being serbs too lol:
