When NK Zadar and Inter Zaprešić met this past weekend at Stadion Stanovi in the 26th round of the Croatian Prva Liga, there was much more to the lone goal of the game than the scoreboard would show. Inter striker Tomislav Bosec scored the game winner for Inter in the 74th minute and then decided to celebrate right in front of some Zadar supporters.
A fan came over and punched Bosec in the face. He should know better than to go within 20 feet of rival supporters in Croatia. The video says it all and has already accumulated over one million views in the past three days. I would love to interview the fan that punched him. Why? would be the only thing I’d ask.
Thanks to Tom in WPG and xtratime.org for the link.
I think plenty of teams wanted Leko but not for the type of wages he wanted and which Dinamo will prob give due to his free agent status. I don't mind Leko. He'll be good for a couple of seasons.
I agree on Simic, but as a squad player for HNL1 matches he'll be okay. I agree these won't help Dinamo in Europe alone. They need to still buy more as will be collecting 15m at least from sales. As i keep saying self confessed Dinamo fan Cesarec on a free transfer is an obvious one and if they want to get rid of Slepicka a exchange for Keric will do fine. Then if you can't hire them you look at Bjelanovic.. consider Zec though not for stupid money.
Next season i want Dinamo to qualify for group stage of Europa Liga and play a little better and that's the height of my expectations.
Dinamo have to sign some players as the current side once Badelj and Mandzo goes is pretty poor. Primorac has never been a scorer, Slepicka only does it once every 8 games and Dodo looks like a lower league player. I'm not even sure Dodo is good enough for Rijeka or Belupo no mind us.
Brining in Leko and Simic does nothing to help dinamo in europe. One guy is washed up and the other guys nobody wants.
More of the same from dinamo.
At some point you have to tell these guys the door is closed at dinamo. Just because they played and had some success before does not mean they should be coming back, especially Simic. He should be offered a testimonial match and that is it. Since when is Dinamo a charity?
I've just read about Jerko Leko. I am satisfied. Obviously this means the sale of Milan Badelj who thoroughly deserves a foriegn transfer so that's okay. I am happy Leko will join us, but to be honest isn't he taking this love of Dinamo a bit far.
Just cos he wanted to be a free agent so he could move to Dinamo, the guy has given up a year of football and lost his national team jersey. A little bit extreme to be honest. He had decent offers on the table he should have taken. I'm happy to have him back at Dinamo though. If we sell Sammir, Badelj and Mandzukic it should fund signing of Cesarec on a free transfer. I still believe we should buy a centre back. i only consider Simic as cover doing the job Kovac did. I'd like to Bostjan Cesar or Kristjan Ipsa to arrive.
For strikers we could practically clear out the lot except Kramaric. Dodo, Primorac, Slepicka and Mandzo all could be moved on. I think Mamic has to at least try to do a deal for Keric in exchange for Slepicka.
Jerko Leko will be okay for Dinamo as he still has the legs to get around the field and can play as a right midfielder, defensive midfielder with attacking components to his game, plus is a free transfer so that's okay. However Dario Simic is practically finished now. Also taking a year out the game at 34 is only gonna make him worse.
@Anonymous,
How can I take anything seriously from someone commenting "anonymous" ?
I like your comment but need you to sign in. Ultimately, its up to Ziva Istina what he would like published on this website. We respect his decision.
@Dinamofan
Looks like Dinamo will sign Jerko Leko as well… oh em oh my..
I don't think Kovac will stay. With Dario i must admit i'm not comfortable with this. The guy has had a year out of the game with no football and now we're signing him. If we wanted him then sign him start of this season. Not now. I find it strange.
If he wants to be on the books as extreme defensive cover in HNL1 and do some coaching fair enough i guess. Frankly these guys like Dario Simic, Ante Seric, Hjorve Vejic and Stjepan Tomas should bite the bullet now and if they want to still play they should go to some other Croatian side apart from Hajduk or Dinamo. We can't keep accomodating these guys when there over the hill as it decreases the quality of our side. Robert Kovac and Igor Biscan both been expensive, but we've barely seen them.
Barbaric, Cufre, Biscan and Simic is prob not gonna cut it in European football.
So far i'm looking at Mamic's recent signings PAPADOPOULOS, SIVONJIC, DODO, PRIMORAC and now SIMIC. Its very cheap and a serious lack of quality there so how anyone can criticise Jurcic when these are the players he's working with i have no idea. The list should contain IPSA, BANOVIC, RIVIC, CESEREC, KERIC .. guys who have experience abroad and played regularly. Ziva will probably say that's still not good enough, but its still better than what Mamic is going for. If we must have aging former Croatian internationals then give us BABIC or LEKO who are at least 29 rather than guys in mid 30's.
@ Denis,
Can you ask Ziva Istina (interesting name) for permit ion to post his comment as is?
I read his comment and taught that is an eye opener. For that reason, I talked about it with my friends. None of them saw the comment before I mentioned it. This way, everybody would be enlightened.
@Ante B,
Too late 🙂
"Dario Šimić novo pojačanje plavih!"

Biscan, Simic and Kovac? They should just call that the geriatric line of defense…our better yet if we put their ages together, it comes out to 100.
Uzas, they should just transfer to the MLS. I hope they don't consider this pojacanje.
Hey Ziva,
Again, the overview you provided yesterday was excellent.I imagine the decision to bring in the two Brazilians last summer was also driven by agents with some influence at the club and an interest in cashing in at the club's expense? Was this not something that led to Mise's exit?
@Ziva Istina,
I think if you just add a little to your last comment it will be ready to go. We are not the New York Times here. However, if you are a perfectionist and would rather make it perfect then half-assed I understand where you are coming from.
Please feel free to contact us if you would like to add anything to the site. Your inside information and knowledge of the game is priceless
@Ante B,
Thanks for the link. How do you see Dario in the Dinamo rotation next season. Dario and Robert in D? Why dont they both join the Columbus Crew?
Dario Simic going back to Dinamo Zagreb at the "young" age of 34 to finish out his career.

Thanks for the offer, but I just don't have the time right now to string together a proper article/commentary on Hajduk. Too busy with work.
I enjoy jumping on the website for a few minutes and sharing my thoughts, but I would need some time to put together such a piece. I'll get to it evetually, but I just can't right now.
I grew up with Hajduk in my blood, just like any other dalmatinac, and saw how my old man would call for scores every Sunday (pre-internet days). Now, what has taken place with the club is criminal. I can live with not being good, but what pains me is the individuals who have profited from hajduk and given nothing back.
@Ziva Istina,
Without a doubt the huge post of the month. You can't find this kind of stuff on index, net, Vecernji, etc etc..
How would you feel about writing a piece on the "troubles at Hajduk"? I'm sure hundreds of Croatian fans here are interested.
Ziva,
That's very helpful. Thank you, I appreciate your insights.
Like most of the sporting teams in Croatia, they are controlled by the city.
Hajduk's ownership structure……. the team has always been owned and run by the city. Name the politcal party in charge (usually HDZ) and they install their man as the president.
Recently, Hajduk sold shares (2 years ago) and many fans purchased. Some individuals purchased thousands of shares, but the majority of the shares (over 50%) still belong to the city of Split. The city did not buy those shares, but rather they were inherited by the city because of all the debt the team owned. So, basically, nothing changed with the shares. The decisions are still made by the person hand picked by the Split city assembly.
Currently, Svagusa is the president of the club. But, he answers to Kerum, who is mayor of the city. Kerum installed Svagusa and can easily remove him. Svagusa has no background in soccer or sports, but owns a bakery. That is why the fans have thrown krafne on the pitch.
Surjak, as you know is a former player and has had various roles, on and off, with the club in the last 10-15 years. He has been sporting director and had other roles. Again, the people who get these positions are tied to the mayor and the president.
But, there are more who have influence in the club. Former players who works as quasi-agents (Stimac (brother), Mornar, etc..) have their hands in the mix trying to get their players on the first team and sold to foreign clubs…Surjak and people like him are always looking out for themselves instead of the club. It's the main reason why coaches and fired and hired so fast. Play my guy or else….
Torcida wants a KODEKS…basically a constitution or some type of document that outlines how the club should be run. It is a novel idea, but it will be an uphill struggle for them. I have yet to meet a person who gives up power and I doubt the likes of kerum and his clones will do anything that gives up control of hajduk.
Let's go back to Stimac and his brother…they ran hajduk at the time Srna and Pletikosa were sold to Shaktar. Hajduk made about $2million on the sale (I could be off on the amount a bit, its been a while), but Shaktar paid nearly $6 million for them. So, where did the money go. Hajduk did not get it.
They are all crooks…Stimac, Surjak, i drustvo… I've been around these fuckers and I can say nothing good about them.
I cant go into too much detail, but I hope that answers all your questions…
My contacts within hajduk are clean, as far as I know, and they are dead set against paying millions for Barca to come for a worthless game.
erm .. over to you Ziva!
Dinao fan/Ziva…
Can you help me understand Hajduk's management and/or ownership structure? Kerum? Svagusa? Surjak? Where do they all fit in? What are their roles? Who else has influence at the club?
Speaking of influence, Torcida would obviously like to have more influence…. what is this drive for "Kodeks?" e.g. a literal translation and what more can you tell me about it?
Interestingly, I noticed Torcida has apparently frowned upon the idea of Hajduk hosting Barcelona. I believe they referred to it as something that would generate a "false/temporary glow." I tend to agree with them… it might make for a nice centennial celebration but it will do nothing toward enhancing the long-term well being of the club.
Oh and add Kreso Ljubijic and Brkljaca to that list as they weren't in the plans either.
As well as Ibricic they might also have to sell Strinic who might get a bid, but i guess they have Jozinovic to cover that. They possible might also be a swoop by Lazio for Mario Ticinovic who seems to be playing well at moment. There was something about Reja wanting him a little while ago and possibly Reja already decided he wants to help Hajduk in some financial way. It will take Hajduk at least December 2010 at the earliest to get back to a normal size squad which does not damage them financially.
I think Hajduk still need 2 strikers. If they buy anymore players in other positions then that's just daft.
Hajduk: Subasic, Oremus, Pandza, Maloca, Jozinovic;
Tomasov, M Ljubicic/ Rubil, Andric, Sharbini An; Vukusic, Ticinovic
Subs: Cernat, Cop, Livaja, J Buljat
^ basically that's what they got left with for next season more than likely as i can see Strinic and Ibricic being sold and they need to clear out the rest.
We are a long way away from hajduk having their house in order. It all starts at the top and all you have to look at is hajduk's leadership…….their leaders should all be in jail, from the accident prone womanizer surjak to the baker svagusa… Lopovi
Thanks for the insight Dinamofan… man, if only they'd get their house in order…. then they could actually start to build and prosper, rather than just survive….
RE: TOM
It depends on the bidding war. I imagine the bids will start at 3-4m and then go upwards. I personally think he is a good player and is worth signing by any German team or could even join Kalinic at Blackburn. Big sides in Turkey are also interested that has money and i expect a Russian side may take a look too, but you can expect him to go to a big club and for at least 4m. As i said though most of that money will go on paying over players who have no future with Hajduk – Buljat, Pelaic, Jertec, Smoje, Vejic, Seric, Aracic, Ahmad Sharbini, Rodic, Smoje.. long list..
Okay, Ibricic redeemed himself by scoring the late-game winner….. so, does anyone have a reliable sense of what his transfer fee will be?
Croatian Kup — Hajduk v Sibenik scoreless at the half after Ibricic missed a penalty in the final moments of the first half. A surprisingly poorly struck penalty by Ibricic given that he has been on fire recently.
figures it's Zadar fans! Those Dalmatians are a bunch of a aninamls 😉 haha jk!
I heard PSG wants Sammir SELL SELL SELL SELL SELL! I have nothing against Sammir, but he plays to his potential only once every now and then and there is such a thing as staying to long in Croatian football. At the moment he's also blocking Tomecak and Antolic from coming through so time to go Sammir. I hope he moves to France and does well there. I'm not totally convinced he will, but if we can sell that'll be great.
i kept hitting RePlay 🙂 hahahahahahaha
to the credit of Tomislav Bosec and the Zapresic players they didn't really make anything out of the incident. They continued celebrating.
The guy must have had a bad day as Zadar aren't even under much pressure. I understand why Bosec went wild as thats a season saving goal, but not sure what the Zadar fan was so grumpy about.
Oh man how great that would feel to do to the majority of people who post here.
(I'm sure vice versa holds true)
