It was all Croatia in the 1st half of the match against Wales Saturday night in Split. The Vatreni were completely on the front foot from the opening whistle. Kramarić nearly scored a wonderful strike off a half-volley but had his shot parried away by the Welsh keeper early in the first period. However, he eventually found the back of the net to open the scoring in the 28th minute when he skipped around a Welsh defender and ripped an “outside foot” shot from 20 yards out. Kramarić had a golden opportunity in the 44′ to lay an easy pass to Perišić for an open look on goal but took the selfish approach instead.
Croatia were up 1-0 at halftime with full control of the match. If they would have kept up the same tempo, the match surely would have ended 2-0 or 3-0.
But the Vatreni came out flat in the 2nd half and looked to drop in intensity from the first 45 minutes. Modrić and the boys had multiple looks at goal and could have sealed the deal with a second goal at any point in 2nd half. The goal never came even with Perišić rattling a shot off the crossbar midway through. Striker Petar Musa made his senior debut for Croatia in the 50th minute but didn’t receive much service. The match stayed 1-0 for the rest of the game, which only gave Wales hope. On their last offensive play of the match in the 93rd minute, a long throw-in was flicked to the back post to a wide open Broadhead for the equalizer.
This is 100% a disappointing draw. Croatia dominated from start to finish but couldn’t find a second goal at any point in the match to bury all Welsh hopes. But at the end of the day, this is what the Vatreni do–they make silly mistakes in qualifying ALL THE TIME. So are we really surprised?
This was merely the opening match of EURO 2024 qualifying but it will absolutely be a vibe killer for the moment. A win in Turkey on Tuesday will rectify everything as this is Croatia’s toughest 2-match stretch in EURO qualifying.
The match was theirs. Croatia had everything in control and they only have themselves to blame for not burying a mediocre European side in Wales — at home. The boys will be fine but this one will hurt tonight. A win was expected in Split and so were drinks flowing on the Splitska Riva.
2 pressing questions for Dalić and Kramarić:
- Does Dalić really need to sub out Modrić and Kovačić late in the game simply to burn seconds off the clock? It’s only a 1-goal game. Leave your core intact and finish the game. Don’t worry about standing ovations.
- Does Kramarić hate Perišić? There were 3 instances where Krama could have passed the ball to put Perišić in prime position. Instead, he did it himself. What’s the reason? Even though Krama scored the lone goal of the match, he could have easily been hero with 1-2 assists. Easily.
Great starting squad from Dalić. Livaja will feel right at home at Poljud in front of the Split faithful. I would have liked to see Juranović on the right wing instead of defense. Musa MUST see at least 30 minutes in this match. He can absolutely shake things up with good results in the Croatian strike force.
Hey guys, off topic from this post would anyone know of any Croatian events in California? I am in the navy stationed up in Oxnard area.
Thank you all in advance.

Here’s an interesting read.
Sosa consistently underwhelms me. Seems like we adopted the attitude that since Germany wanted him he must be good so let’s start him. But I can’t recall a single impressive thing he has done for us.
He made at least one perfect pinpoint cross to Perisic last game. He also had a few ridiculously accurate ones at the World Cup too (the first Morocco game where Vlasic had that toe-poke chance was from a Sosa cross). He also had that super accurate goal against Denmark in Nations League where he picked out that corner and passed it right into the net.
It seems like he prefers accuracy over just throwing a cross into the area. It’s almost as if he is too patient, or would rather not cross it into the area unless he has picked out a specific person to cross it to.
We need take advantage of this skill that he has, but maybe it’s a chemistry issue with his style not jiving well with the rest of our team.
I couldn’t watch the game, but based on the highlights and all the info here, the blame lies with Juranovic and Dalic. Kramaric gets a free pass (pardon the pun). You can’t complain about his selfishness when it was that same selfishness that allowed him to score his goal. Juranovic is what he is (not great defending). The coach (who keeps displaying his utter cluelessness to anything remotely tactical) should have subbed in Stanisic way earlier. At the very least, he should have put him and Erlic in when he stupidly removed Modric. It was effectively going to be the last play of game and he should have overloaded the box with defenders.
The only positive for me is that Musa will likely get the start vs. Turkey. I hope beyond all hope that he bangs in a couple. This might force Dalic to consider him the first choice striker moving forward. Being unable to win games in 90 minutes has sadly become a habit. We really need to figure out this scoring problem.
I don’t know why but I keep going with a Back three
I feel a back three with
Gvardi- erlic – stanisic with broz in front is quite formidable
Musa’s chance to run with it
Unless Dalić does a 3-5-2 with krama and Perisic up front
But I’m assuming Perisic is not happy with him
That Perišić off the bar would have been a remarkable goal
Just missing a bit of luck
But I do want to see more and more Perisic as a more striker role
But does sosa provide enough on that left wing?
He can deliver crosses as we know
But does he have the pace? He looked like he had pace at times but I’m not sure if it’s fast enough to create against higher level defenders
JJ needs to play on rw
His pace and motor are solid
Crosses were good
Defensively responsible but maybe not as solid as stanisic would be
Rather try JJ on rw with stanisic behind then keep jamming vlasic there
But I’m not a coach
Tho I feel many would agree with me on this….
How many touches did Gvardiol have whole game ? It seems he had zero license to run forward with the ball. Don’t get it. At least let him do a few runs early on to get the strikers on their back foot he might blast around them into midfield. It also seems Satulo had 90% of the touches when ball was passed back and laterally to wings/mid.
I noticed the same seems like sutalo was more involved
I didn’t mind his play overall
Let erlic or stanisic tho be the stay at home guy and let gvardiol push up some..
Livaja is terrible! I have seen better strikers at the North American Croatian tournaments. He looked liked a baby elephant out there, no pace, tripping over the ball, knocking over opponents.
Wales we’re awful. I also thought the Bale stuff was overrated he was basically half a player at the WC and also thought also you know they might be better off without him. But that team started wasting time a few minutes into the game. The midfield is poor the gave up the ball quite a few times in the first half basically had one good chance where Wilson flubbed it. But they were truly bad other than Ward and Rodon I didn’t think anyone on Wales did much of anything. If we had even poor finishing we would have 2/3 goals
Juranovic I felt was solid the whole game until the very end his main fault on that goal. Stanisic is lights out defensively but I think with both our backs they play more in a 3-5-2 set up and are given cover defensively and they’re able to thrive. Really maybe would be wise to go back to that formation like we did against Morocco. I don’t think we have the forwards but in every other phase we do. Maybe Musa up top with a Kramaric behind him? Maybe Perisic on the left instead of Sosa?
So what happened to Torcida? They never showed up lmao. What tools.
at least we’re not Denmark
I watched the highlights and we had control majority of the game. Wales got one attempt on goal and they capitalized. Jurnaovic got caught ball watching and didn’t see Broehead sneak in.
Watched the whole game again. My analysis:
Dalic and the team have tried to change the style again. The evolution in this respect from 2018 until now has been marked.
In 2018 we played to the strength of mandjukic, controlling possession, using the speed and aggression of perisic and rebic on the wings to create crossing opportunities with the midfield rarely getting forward into scoring positions.
With the retirement of mandjo, And the emergence of more technical forwards, and quicker more technical defenders.. Dalic has modernised our system to become more fluid, quick passing and interchange of positions. This suits our technical players but with a lack of speed in attack and a lack of proper goalscorers it has left us toothless in many games.
Yesterday was an attempt to remedy this issue by playing more vertical passes more often. To turn the opposition defence and create penetration to force more chances. This worked, we had chances, but most of them were rushed chances and without a world class forward we struggled to finish the chances.
the other negative was that our players still aren’t used to playing this direct and it upset our rhythm and our defensive shape. This is normal when you have only a couple of days to work on the new patterns.
let us see if we see the same, more open, direct style against turkey. In theory it could take us a step forward, but it will take a bit of time to get right. Musa is the right type of forward for this style so let’s hope it gels, and musa gets a goal or two
Looks like Livaja is out against Turkey. I have to think Musa gets the start in his place. I do really hope we deploy Juranovic as a RW and Stanisic as RB.
It would finally be a lineup where we would essentially have all starters in their natural position.
I’m a bit torn with Krama. He’s an effective scorer but his ball hog ways might do more harm than good. I’m afraid Perisic might knock him out one of these days.
Fantastic news about Livaja. We need to move away from the old guard forwards as soon as possible, even if it means having some growing pains with the younger players.
The issue with Krama is that his ball hogging resulted in our goal (he didn’t hesitate to one-time it into goal) but at the same time, he refused to pass it to a wide open Perisic (which surely would have put us up 2-0 and ended the game).
We just have to accept the player that he is.
Absolutely agree. If only Krama could pick up a knock or two and miss time. It would force Dalic’s hand even more so.
Crappy way to drop 2 points. If anything, it is a good reminder that you gotta play until the very end and don’t lose focus.
I’m not overly concerned. We clearly outplayed them.
Turkey will be tough at home, a loss there could be trouble.
Fortunately we have the back door Nations League qualifying loophole.
By rights we should qualify easily…of course when have we ever done things the easy way.
Let Musa start on Tuesday!!!
Bog i Hrvati
I really don’t get how much Dalic is really worth to you.
we have the full potential players to win a world cup –
I can’t allow you to pray for Dalic who has no understanding
to the pain of those players who have potential!
unbelievable to All of you o- Amateur -o
we need a shooking 3-0 defeat from the Turks
lol – striker from 3rd division English football (Ipswich Town) says they know Croatia is vulnerable at the back on counter-attack

WTF happened to the copyright for Cro goals
can’t watch them anywhere, the twitter link doesnt work, Optus asks u to log in now, i can watch the Wales goal but not ours? Did Vatreni sign some kinda deal ?
Ive said dalic is no good since he took over, riding luck,,starts Livaja? That guy is a bum, other countries are playing guys that are young and hungry,,he plays a guy from HNL which is garbage and kramaric who’s riding the bench at hoffenheim
being a total all on luck and fate depending guy
Disappointing? Yes , because we dominated the whole game.
Time to worry ? Hell no, we will finish first in the group. None of the other teams have our quality .
Let’s not forget that we lost 3-0 to Austria in the first game of the Nations League , and now we are in the semi-finals..
Za Dom! 🔥
This was our 36-qualifying match at home for EURO’s. Still undefeated with 27 wins and 9 draws.
However, when you concede in the 93 minute from a long throw in it feels like a defeat.
you could make some dreams to some extent –
but Dalic will fuck it up and get lucky as usual –
then you praise him | as if he is a hero ~
nemas pojma
Guys overall we were completely dominant
Realistically could have had some serious highlight reel goals
They will pick it back up
Shitty nonetheless but should be even better on Tuesday
We can still very well go undefeated in qualifying…
Musa from the start Tuesday?
Perisic gonna beat down krama in the locker room….
That was a complete domination, just unfortunate that we couldn’t add a couple o’ more goals.
Who committed the foul on Perisic his first disallowed goal?
LIVAJA
Over confidence by Dalic . You’re only as good as todays game and it shows that you think your something special- your not. Get a foreign coach ready. With Dalic, we got the fire but no match to light it-
yeah…
Dalic is shit ~
no question1
Dalic was not overconfident and was warning prior to the match that Wales were tough opponents and strong on set pieces or should I say long throw ins.
The over confidence was on this site with some fools saying that Wales was a shit side. They might look a shit side on paper, but they can defend in numbers and are difficult to break down as was evident in today’s match.
We are seriously becoming inept upfront
More than before actually.
Watched the last few minutes again. First of all there was no need for Gvardiol to head the ball out for a throw in. That was the first mistake.
Juranovic was ball watching and by large is to blame for the goal. Also noticed on the reply that both Sutalo and Gvardiol were defending the middle of the box and the back post. One of them should have been on the front post trying to stop the flick on.
Turkey had a good win away to Armenia and will be tough to beat at home.
Here we go again panicking after one game.
We never make it easy on ourselves but in the end we shall sneak in.
Wales is a mid tier team that will take points off of people especially at home.
Portugal seems to play better as a team without their superstar who’s to say wales doesn’t without bale…relying on one guy does have its drawbacks.
It’s the Croatian hangover after a World Cup not like it hasn’t happened before.
We will be fine!
True, but I we also don’t want to ruin our rank.
We don’t want to lose points due to draws and losses to weaker teams, so we can be seeded at Euro2024.
it is not sufficient concerning
– Dalic is shit! {over all things}
for you to have this statement
better to have Turks slam 2-0
we expect certain results
that makes us rejoice!
our burden –> Dalic
will be released!
First half was good. Were unlucky not to be up by at least two goals.
Juranovic, Sosa, and Livaja weren’t good today. Dalic was also poor with his subs.
Musa coming in for Livaja was the right call…but he didn’t get to show what he could do because we weren’t dominating in the second half like we were in the first.
Juranovic desperately needed to be subbed out. He wasn’t playing well, got a yellow card, continued to play sloppy, and could have had a second yellow with another sloppy foul. He was bad defensively, and was too big a risk to continue playing, and it wasn’t surprising to see his man score the goal in the end.
Stanisic should have been subbed in there at the second half, but we all knew that Dalic would be favoring the Hajduk players today.
The two Splicani (Pasalic and Vlasic) coming on was obviously going to happen. In no way should either of them be ahead of Majer. But Dalic made the subs so late anyway, it probably wouldn’t have mattered.
He needed to get Stanisic in there to replace Juranovic early in the second, and get Majer in there the second he saw our creative midfielders tiring.
Majer finally being subbed in at the last minute was embarrassing. Dalic trying to give Modric the standing ovation from the fans (as if the game was already over). Pretty arrogant move that blew up in his face. Dalic needs to stop fixating on bringing Croatia together (that’s not his job) and focus entirely on the 90 minutes of football that is occurring on the field.
The good news is that I like what I saw in the first half, and alot of our key guys played well. If we keep playing like we did in the first half (and make proper timely subs in the second half) then we should be fine.
The better news is that the next game is in Turkey, so Dalic can focus on what he is being paid to do (and not fixate on what will make the local fans happy).
So who is the Goat of the Match?
1) Juranovic- allowed the 2 best Wales scoring opportunities and the tying goal.
OR
2 The entire midfield- for not being able to make it a 2-0 game with so many scoring chances?
Every coach since the start of mankind subs a guy late to waste time. This was on Juranovic. His man was wide open and if he Mark’s his man we come out with the W.
Juranovic is a winger and is prone costly lapses defensively.
3-5-2 with Gvardiol,Sutalo/Erlic and Stanisic.
Perisic played well.
Did anyone notice he gave up his number 4 to Gvardiol? An unselfish and awesome player for us.
Kramaric and his ball hog mentality helps us and hinders us at the same time….
Incorrect- referees add time for substitutions – and that one was I’ll-advised
Technically yes, but it’s still an effort to slow down play. That sub happens every time when teams are up a goal.
Juranovic leaving his man wide open was the issue on the play.
Disagree. You don’t ever sub defending a corner or a free kick – this was effectively a corner kick.
Wales are also under pressure to play quickly because they are Running out of time. This throw in might not be executed as well if they are rushing.
Taking 1 minute to sun effectively gives them a time out and a chance to catch their breath and execute.
No bueno.
We agree to disagree.
There is no setup with a long throw that has 10-15 players in the box. It’s typically mayhem and lucky bounces on those plays and/or poor defending that results in a goal.
Yes, the Welsh player got his head on the ball and flicked it to the back post, but Juranovic made the cardinal sin of ball watching and completely forgetting about his man.
Players have plenty of time to react on a long throw. It’s not like it was a free kick just outside the box. Our players would have just enough time to prep for the throw. I chalk it up to poor defending rather than Wales executing in the throw.
Someone here mentioned that no one had the initial Welsh player who flicked the ball…I’d also agree with that. We have some decent size in Sutalo (6’3), Gvardiol (6’1), and Sosa who’s 6’2.
We let a 5’10 player head in the winner…
If we hadn’t made a substitution for Modrić, Wales would not have had as much time to plan and set up that throw in. Defense also slightly relaxed thinking the game was over.
Can’t play without Modric for even 10 seconds I guess.
And fellow Hrvati are shocked when I say that we wouldn’t have qualified for the last World Cup without him.
It was a shit substitution to make at that time. It gave Wales time to prepare for the throw in.
You could see the Wales players whispering during the ill advised last minute Majer for Modric substitution.
Spot on Bobby V – that gave them time to set up the set piece. Another lesson learned I hope Dalić.
last minute modric substitution made zero sense. yep it definately gave wales time to set up and organize
Game changed when Kramaric had an easy pass to Perisic and didn’t give him the ball. You could see that whole team was pissed. Not a Dalic supporter and it’s time to have Modric be player- coach . send Dalić to Turkey and they can have him
Kramaric was so selfish with that one, got us a goal and then cost us the game. You could tell Perisic was fuming and the rest of the team was pissed. Rightfully so…
Musa is better than what we have, but the service to both him and Livaja sucked. It wouldn’t have mattered had Cristiano Ronaldo played for us in his prime since the ball doesn’t get there at the right time.
We never replaced Raketić at midfield. Dalić started the correct 11. We knew we are very limited. How many chances are the midfielders going to flub?
Those long throw-ins gave us trouble all game. So sad to lose points because of that. It figures it happened seconds after Luka was subbed.
Spot on, the team was using Musa as a dribbling cone just bypassing him at all times. Some of his strengths are holding up the ball and also in the air and the team used none of that to get the best out of him, they didn’t pass to him and they didn’t even cross it anywhere in his vicinity.
Speaking of crosses, when will we stop with these short pass on set pieces bullshit? Some of our players are freakin huge and can also attack a ball on a set piece but yet the team piss fart around with it instead of putting the game to bed.
We drew Wales. An absolute disappointment and disgrace. They have depleted in terms of skill drastically and didn’t have two key players on the field. We’re at home in Split and we’re all over them in the first half. Get the win in Turkey Tuesday or we’ll be in trouble and relying on the last few matches to get he top two spots. If we can’t beat Wales at home…don’t play. They don’t even have Bale anymore. We did start off our last World Cup qualifying campaign with a loss to Slovenia. But this shouldn’t happen.
terrible subs from dalic, we needed majer and orsic instead of vlasic and pasalic, didn’t they both just come off injury also lol. Also erlic should have started instead of sutalo. If dalic was playing for the defensive 1-0 result in the 2nd half why didn’t he put in stanisic?? smh
Poor second half and that miss in the 50 minute by Kovacic has proven to be costly. Wales had 4 or 5 dangerous throw ins into our penalty box and from one of them they scored in the 93 minute.
Our defence looked shaky today especially from long throw ins into our box.
Pretty unlucky way to lose a game, to be fair. Wales exploits two advantages on that play (throwing ability and height) to get the bounce that leads to the goal. Once again, however, it was Juranović’s man. He offers a lot going forward, but I would rather not concede goals against teams that don’t really earn them (Wales or Canada, for example). The good news is that neither Turkey, nor Wales, nor Armenia is looking skilled enough to win the group. Unlucky not to get the three points, but still the best team in the group when you look at the quality of football, the depth of the squad, etc. I think Stanisić needs to replace Juranović, however. His marking has been poor on too many occasions.
Agree
This had to be Juranovic’s worst match.
nah, JJ played good in the first half when we were attacking and sent in good crosses. But what i think happened is at half dalic told the full backs to stay back and for the whole team to be more defensive, which kinda stopped our flow. you could see musa never ran up to pressure the keeper.
I like Juranović but I agree with you that it was Juranović’s man. If you watch the replay, he moves into the middle watching the ball and not his man. He has no idea of the Welsh player in behind him at the far post. After the goal, Juranović has his shirt in his mouth knowing it was his fault. Stanisić should have come in as his substitute at least 15 minutes earlier to solidify the defense and to prevent a possible second yellow.
100% agree. Stanisic should play in his place but I think we can give Juranovic a shot at RW.
If we win nations league
Can we auto qualify?
Asking for a friend;)
No.
However, having won our NL group we have a guaranteed play-off spot for the EUROS in case we do not finish 1st or second in our group.
This is typical Croatia qualification we have seen for years. They are prone to giving it up late in these matches.
Franjo Tudman called it – we have to figure out a striker other than what we have –
Unreal. Dominate the game and give up that garbage at the end.
When you can’t finish you get punished.
We can never make qualifying easy.
Pressure now to get a result against Turkey. A loss and we could be in some trouble.
We should have put the game away 2-0 so that the win was sealed. So many chances, and we can’t get the ball in the back of the net.
That’s for sure. Missing all those chances eventually bites you in the ass.
Stupid substitution gave Wales time to set up that play – horrible decision.
If we’re going to keep Luka in for 92 minutes, why bother subbing at that point.
He has basically played the entire game already. Lol
Arrogant move by Dalic. Assumed the game was over, so he wanted to give the standing ovation to Modric. Then Wales gave him an F U goal right after.
for fuck sakes man 1 shot 1 on target they tie
That was us against Brazil in the WC haha
I knew this would happen, we can’t put the game away. That’s what you get.
Yup I had a big feeling, just even by the watching stats and not even watching the game. So many opportunities, chances, and noone to put the ball away in the net.
What is the issue here?!
Once again our biggest threat on goal from what I read is Perisic. If your not counting the Krama goals.
You need to have a strong forward, surely from this game Dalic must see this. We don’t have players who can score.
Krama’ goal I mean
Disappointed in Kramaric being selfish and not passing that ball to Perisic. That was a huge opportunity for us to put the game away early, 2-0….
This is the love/hate relationship with soccer. The hate part with games like this against terrible teams that they can’t beat plus them getting robbed at every tournament is outweighing the love these days. This group was a piece of cake, and now if they lose on Tuesday, they are already in trouble. Sheesh.
Fuck me
We could have had like 3-4 easy in this one
Jebi ga
This really is one of those games that they need to win 2-0; 3-0…
A typical Croatia game. 😁
Instead of being up 3-0, Wales shanks a chance to tie the match.
Musa subbed on at like 55 mins, I hope he can prove himself here.
Let’s see what Musa can do. Hope he can score a goal.
He did nothing
You can’t really do much if the other 9 outfield players around him won’t give him the f***ing ball
Man kova. World class build up
MLS type try for the finish
Musa on!!!!!!
Why was the goal disallowed?
The “offside” player was not involved in the play.
What was the call?
I think he called a foul somewhere in the box on us
We keep pressing we will open them up and get two more
Super start
Could have had at least one more
My stream broke up 5 mins left
I saw they had a free kick and some press…
Let’s hope we can bang another early on and really open them up
Winning but 2-3 would be good for potential tie breaking
But if we can keep this type of play going the whole qualifying we will be just fine
U boj!
Gvardiol with a silly foul on the edge of the box. The only way that they will score is from set pieces so we need to minimise free kicks around the box and conceding corners.
Good goal by Kramaric, however once again selfish and should have played a pass to Perisic in the 44 minute. Need another goal to be sure of a win.
Juranovic on a yellow card, I would bring on Stanisic.
Agreed.
On his goal, he should have laid it off to Livaja, who was clearly pissed.
Most selfish player on the team. We’ve seen him do this on other occasions.
Surprise, surprise…lol
Great crosses from Juranovic. He has been op class since the WC…
Could see stanisic coming on cause of the JJ yellow
Seems like this ref has a hard on for him…
Anyone with a Croatian link for Canada. Can’t get the game here.

anyone know what Croatian network is showing this match?
Nova TV or Gol.hr
It doesn’t appear that you can watch either one from the US, without knowing how to change the VPN (I’m one of those).
Does anyone have a link for this game?? I realize I am asking in advance but I won’t have access to watch it.

Thanks for the link!
Let’s hope it actually works at kick off 🙂

Like the lineup, back line looks impressive. Can anyone tell me why Sutalo is still in Zagreb? I know Dinamo is stingy and trying to get every penny for transfer but shouldn’t this guy at least be in the Budensliga?
Yea, he’s probably good enough to play in a top-5 league.
He’ll get a transfer in the summer I’m sure.
I like the lineup and the players chosen in the above lineup but really think the 3-5-2 suits us better with the players we have and our form.
I agree with Crnkovic. Even though Perisic has fallen off he still can offer more than almost anyone we could put in up top. By moving Perisic up top along with another striker does give Sosa room to do his thing.
I think the most important development is that playing Juranovic as a RW which gives us more balance in attack.
Having Petkovic go down is a bit of a blessing as I think we will see Musa get some minutes in one of these two games.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWNGJFPTC8s&ab_channel=VERIFFootball
even Ben Arfa is not a world-class player
because he was a forgotten player .-
just like Perisic, Kovacic, Brozovic
we only have Modric, Suker, Boban
as world-class players so far …..
Ko te jebe.
So you’re saying Brozovic being named the top midfielder in Serie A last year means he’s a ‘forgotten player’ and not world class?!? Anyone that knows anything about the game knows he’s one of the most underrated players in the game and has been for some time although it comes with playing the no.6.
Ante, I vote you incorporate a simple aptitude test to be able to post on this site. Isuse bože.
Mali Ante,
I used to let this guys comments get to me. Now I just laugh at them. He has not knowledge of football really. Pointing out someone who hogs the ball instead of playing with the rest of the team, the comments aren’t worth a second thought really.
@ Mate I hear you. When you get be my age, your bs tolerance is less than zero. Lol.
Brozovic has always been underrated. He has been so important to the repka over the years.
I seriously do wish there was a way to filter out the trolls….
Serie A is not worth mentioning –
really a third-tier league | nowadays
compare to when Boban was active
the previous AC Milan was the best club
like the current Madrid [ with Modric now ]
+ Suker as the top scorer for world cup ’98
you smoke weed and become delusional ~
Better weed than that hookah shit
3 out of 8 of the final champions league teams are serie A Einstein.
It’s easy to kick a guy like you when you’re down but I think it’s obvious this is the only place where anyone pays attention to you…and only due to your moronic comics.
Even a broken clock ⏰ is correct twice a day but I’m guessing you stating fact even once daily is stretching it ?
I mostly agree with this lineup, but would rather see 3-5-2 as many of the players already play that for their home clubs. Perišić at lwb, JJ at RWB. Back 3 with Gvardiol, Sosa and Stanišić. Livaja and Kramarić or Musa up front.
Erlic>Sutalo/Stanisic if playing 4 at the back with 2 CB. Not only is Erlic a more experienced and overall better CB he complements Gvardiol better than the other two. However, because we’re playing a shit team like Wales I would say to play Sutalo, but then again if Moore starts up top, Erlic really would actually be the smartest decision.
I completely agree with you about Erlić, well said.
I see nothing but facts about Erlic on this.

Dalic has confirmed that Livaja will start. But not because he plays in Split🤣
I’m beginning to think Dalić is a CroatianSports.com regular
So that’s who keeps making those Dalić, Lovren, and God of Halilović posts!
I think that Livaja was chosen to start because he has scored and assisted the most within the HNL league, he is at the top of both standings. Not suggesting he has been the best option for Croatia, but I think this is what Dalic meant by the “he has earned it” statement.
Having said this, I do want to see Musa play. There has been a lot of conversation around him as a potential starter.
I think that till the Nations League there’s no much to change.
But some worries on the way, after Nations League. How to replace Modric and Perisic ? Will Kramaric recover he’s good form in 2018 ?
I have no idea, why Rebic is not even mentioned… he could improve the attack. ( after Nations League ).
Hoping that new values appear for the next Cup !!!
Ah, a hug to Jarni !!! I’m a huge fan of him.
your dreamland (line-up) will get perished
once Dalic decided on the usual rubbish
and all of you will eat that shit1|
thinking this lucky guy is a hero
we need this 0-2 for our future1-
This comment actually made me laugh! 💩
One of the problems we had at the World Cup was that perisic stayed wide all the time. This stopped Sosa from getting forward into dangerous positions. The same line-up as above but in a 352 would allow perisic to move central as a striker with livaja. This would get perisic into scoring positions and allow Sosa the space to attack. Could work
Interesting thought.
JJ on the RW is a game changer.
I have been watching him at Union.
He has a motor an industry that is unparalleled in our national set up.
He also is called upon to take penalties, free kicks and corners.
Stanisic behind him is a nice balance has the kid can read the game on a high level.
Livaja up top at least provides a physical presence and maybe Poljud gives him something more.
I wonder if Kovačić has another coming out party?
Wales has nothing for him in that middle.
Modrić and Brozovic keeping the ball moving.
Musa off the bench with a statement goal?
This lineup looks good to me, but don’t forget Pasalic and Majer. I also like Erlic at right center back
Juranović could be the modern version of Dario Srna playing at both positions.
I agree that we never replaced Rakitic at midfield and this gives us another quality midfielder who can cross the ball and is speedy on the wings.
We’ve already tried Majer, Brekalo, Vlašić and Kramarić and all of them would be good guys to come off the bench and are not starters.
I don’t Dalić doing this, but I suppose anything is possible.
Thankful Croatia team is good enough to win with will all these great different line up ideas, and we will win despite our fan base non-concurrence. Later let’s go herd cats together now. Sound like some good enough plans collectively. Dajlic does not Give-alich though. He will suprise us in some way most likely
It would be awesome if Juranovic works for us at RW and Musa hits the ground running. For me they are our two weakest positions.
Would like to see what Musa can do. Also, where can we watch the game? I know the game against Turkey will be on Fox Sports (USA). But what about Wales?
Like to see Musa get in if we can jump on the Whales and give him some late minutes.
Tuchel in at Bayern. Hopefully he likes Stanisic
Same. He has been getting nice minutes lately.
I can see Dalic putting Stanišić as a CB and JJ as RB and going with the usual midfielders/wings
That would be an interesting experiment…but there’s no way Dalić tries it.
We’re more likely to see any one of Erlić, Šutalo or Vida before we see Stanišić there.
I would prefer Stanisic where Sutalo is, with Sutalo/Erlic as a substitutes. With JJ as the right wing back, he played that position really well in the world cup, I am not sure why we would take him out of that role based on the results he had and his current form. Stanisic would be a very good Right Centre Back in my view and would provide a suitable pairing with Gvardiol.
I would prefer Majer (or Pasalic) on the far right midfield where you have listed Juranovic. Based on the team selection list. Krama I am not sure I am fond of him in that position but I could be wrong. To me Krama does well when paired with someone up front in a 4-1-3-2 or like a 3-5-2 type scenario where he has support in the striker position.
As for the person(s) up front. I have no idea. Maybe Perisic alongside Musa if you have the formations that I just listed above. Possibly Livaja. Out of the list Livaja and Musa are the only ones really putting the ball on the net for their respective teams. Perisic is having a bit of dip in form but still deserves the call up here. I am unsure of another option really unless someone has a better suggestion.
Unfortunately Sucic is out with an injury I would have wanted to see him play this qualifier. Not sure what is happening with Petko, but Dalic said he is still coming to the games apparently or to the training camp. Was it a severe injury that Petko had??
In a perfect world we are up by 2 at the half and Musa comes on, giving him a full 45 against decent competition and in a real environment
Have no issue with that line up
Krama has the seniority for the rw, vlasic has the split love
But JJ has hajduk thing going on as well and is by far the most in form on that right side
I don’t see how you can’t get stanisic and JJ on at the same time
They are two of our most in form guy’s currently. If someone would tell you a year ago we would be more worried about our left side right now, you would not have believed it.
Ya I was wondering about stanisic and how his time may be affected at Bayern
If Tuchel does a thing where he wants to prove his own guys and go away from using stanisic that will suck
But he has a good overall taste from kovacic and stanisic seems like a super good attitude Croat (rebic, take a lesson) so maybe it will be fine
Stanisic confidence must be very high in himself now, and that belief can’t be obtained very easily and we need to take advantage of it
All in all, I don’t feel we will have that down turn like we had after Russia
Euro is very obtainable my friends
That post-Russia downturn was largely Dalić’s fault.
He’s only human, and he got overconfident and lazy after achieving that feat in 2018.
I think he got a nice wakeup call after Euro2020 when he was on the verge of being canned. He had that emergency meeting with the veteran players, and actually started doing his job again.
We also don’t have as many older vets like we did after Russia. Most of the key players in our rotation still have at least a couple more tournaments in them.
Russia was different because we had an entire backline and goalkeeper that needed replacing, plus Mandžo and Raketa.
That required a lot of work from the coach to transition to a young generation, and Dalić chose not to do anything (just resting our vets for the UNL and defaulting back to our Russia squad for Euro2020, then panicking at the last minute and capping first-time young players during the actual tournament).
Other then Modrić and Perišić, everyone else should be good for several more tournaments (and I wouldn’t even write off Modrić and Perišić despite their age).
Yup, all very good points
All in all despite being on the verge of losing two of our main old studs
Lots of good stuff happening with the repka
Here’s hoping Musa takes his chance and runs with it
And be a really good option till hopefully one of these u21s come knocking
Speaking of the u21s had some good ball movement in their Israel friendly from the highlights
Just missed some finishing
How’s that pandur kid going? He looked solid nuff from those highlights I saw
Any potential to being a successor for us in goal?!
I may be, and i hope, I’m wrong, but… I don’t think juranovic can play RW in a 433 or 4231 system. As a wing back yes. When you play as wing back you have freedom to go all the way forward but you stay wide and you are moving forward into space, which juranovic excels at. But when you start high you are marked and have to play with your back to goal, that’s a completely different scenario. You also have to come inside to create space for the full back. I would love us to try 3 at the back at some point so we can get stanisic and juranovic in the team. But as long as we play with a back four it will be either juranovic or stanisic at RB
agreed, good reasoning!
I’m guessing that it will be 4 – 3 – 3 formation.
Liva – Jura, Sutalo, Gvard, Sosa – Modric, Broz, Kova – Krama, Livaja and Perisic.
I hope the Perisic/Sosa side can pick it up some, and be a bit more effective moving forward. Sad to hear Orisic not getting opportunities, thus affecting his National team playing status.
For me, the centre back partnership with Gvardiol I would personally prefer Erlic but I am totally not against Sutalo next to him as long as it isn’t that other donkey on the team. Juranovic selection at RW is an interesting one but if Kramaric plays there, he needs to be given freedom by the system and roam freely in order to excel. I would much rather Musa to start but it probably won’t happen as long as he doesn’t come in as a late sub like what Dalic was doing in Qatar.
All in all, pretty spot on with what you said.
