As the 2014 World Cup draw for Brazil approaches, it’s worth noting that there are both good and bad with each draw scenario. Ahh, yes the old adage is true that we must take the good with the bad; the yin with the yang, if you will.
So what are some of the pros and cons regarding the draw for next year’s World Cup?
Below are some items concerning the draw/venues/traveling/weather that I feel we should consider when judging the draw for Hrvatska. I will start with the bad/cons as I like to get the negative stuff out of the way and finish on a high note with the pros and possible highlights.
1) Selection – Obviously the biggest pros & cons can’t be determined yet as we don’t know what teams will be in what groups. However, due to the change in format, one UEFA team at random will have to face Argentina/Brazil/Columbia/Uruguay PLUS another European team. More on this topic at CroatianSports.com’s latest article.
2) Weather – it will certainly be a factor playing around the equator even if it is the southern hemisphere’s winter. Brazil sitting on the equator means the temperatures and humidity can play a huge role. Brazil is so large that playing in the south in June is very different than playing in the north at the same time as the intense heat and humidity up north will be virtually non-existent in the south. More on this one from England coach Roy Hodgson in a Telegraph interview.
3) Locations – Some of the stadiums are in more remote areas compared to others in better locations with more tourist attractions, which is nice for those of us heading there for the games. The remote locations are more difficult to get to and there will be long intra-city travel time expected. Also, there are chances to play in the world famous Maracana Stadium during group play which would be pretty cool! More on the locations here at FIFA.
Doing some homework on #2 above, the weather, I looked up the average temperature and humidity in June/July for all of the host cities, and I feel that the ones to avoid are:
Manaus (very remote + bad weather, hope to avoid at all costs!)
Fortaleza
Natal
Recife
Salvador
Cuiaba (to a slightly lesser extent)
So that led me to look up which groups play where and based on the weather, the best groups to be in are F & H, which have 5 of 6 games in the south and only one match in the north. Next best would be B with 4 and 2 respectively. E is close to B but because it has a game in the least desirable city of Manaus, it’s definitely worse than B. Groups A, C and D all have only two games in the south and four games in the north, but C is best of these because it has no games in Manaus vs. one game each from A and D. Finally, group G is horrible for weather because it has only one game in the south and five in the north (including 1 in Manaus), so let’s hope Hrvatska avoids Group G as far as the weather is concerned.
Looking at locations:
If you want to see the Vatreni playing at the mighty Maracana, then group B, E, F or H would give us a chance to play a group game there. Again, Manaus is a bad draw for locations because it is so remote and is in the Amazon jungle region; so logistics PLUS weather seem bad at this site. Avoiding groups A, D, E and G eliminates the chance of a group games in the Amazon.
I did not have a chance to look at travel times and distances as there are just WAY too many permutations.
If you personally are going to the games and want some beach time, then any group will give us a chance for some fun in the sun on non-game days. But if you want to go to their most famous beaches such as Recife, then groups A, C, D or G…also B, E, F or H would a have a chance in Rio (see Maracana above).
Worst to best case draw scenario looking at weather and locations (this is strictly from a Vatreni standpoint; not a beach/tourist standpoint as most of us won’t be traveling there)
G – 5 games in the North including 1 in Manaus
A & D – 4 games in the North (and 1 in Manaus)’
C – 4 games in the North (but none in Manaus at least)
E – chance to play at Maracana + only 1/3 chance to play game in North (1 in Manaus however)
B – chance to play at Maracana + only 1/3 chance to play game in North (none in Manaus)
F & H – chance to play at Maracana + only 1/6 chance to play a game in the North (none in Manaus)
Pray for: Groups F or H
Decent draw: Groups B or E (lesser extent)
Best of the Worst: Group C
Pretty bad: Groups A & D
Must avoid: Group G
So here’s my worst case scenario:
Group G
Argentina
Hrvatska
Netherlands
USA/Mexico
and my best case scenario:
Group F or H
Switzerland
Hrvatska
Algeria
Iran
Enjoy the draw on Friday and hopefully this write-up gives you more data points to consider as your watch it all unfold live!
I got first watch of Krampus duty. Anybody else sees him, let me know and I’ll take the fuckers legs out. Did Sv Nikola bring anybody, any coal in your shoes?
I give every team playing in the event a 1% chance (see Greece in 04 Euros).
Beyond praying for a tough group, I hope all of you also prayed for where the matches will take place. Lat thing I want to do is have to travel to the north of Brazil for games.
@Slavonac,
” I don’t mind half/half so we have to earn a place but I just don’t get the overwhelming calls for bring me the best?”
I agree. Bring me half/half.
I dont want the best. F that. Why face a group of Brazil-Netherlands-Ivory Coast ?
….and the spremte se spremte is a line mocking one of your old famous songs – WTF, now I’m explaining my humor to you and teaching you things you should already know. What kind of Serb are you?
I’m 100% Croat and am still more Serbian than you are.
Here – Jeez!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0glQzxyxnMg
Karadzic – scroll back up. It was Ante B. who sarcastically asked you what pot you were in – not me. Geez, another dumb Serb – I thought you might be different.
Well, keep on fighting facism by posting on this site – I guess you are doing a good job. Do you wear a cape when you type?
@Karadick Bobby V said that about Srbija KNOWING and REMINDING you that we are going and you are not! DUH
@ ziva. croatian could win the world cup with emphasis on could. one could argue they came pretty close in 98 (only team to score an actual goal on france). current odds i believe are 150 to 1. i’m going to put some coin on that. i give us a 1% chance at least. we play this tournament 100 times, i can definitely see cro winning it once. why not
Bobby V I knew you were stupid but I did not know you were that stupid. Serbia didn’t qualify for the World Cup, we’re not in a pot laugh out loud. I don’t blame an illiterate albanian lover like yourself for not noticing, you probably just got Russia and Serbia’s flags confused… moron. And no, my Serbian colleagues applaud my work here, I am fighting fascism
dedicate this trophy to Drazen Petrovic …
if We go to the WC champion !! and for Me too ^_^
@Ante B
UDBA radi
My hope for tomorrows world cup draw with game predictions:
-Spain 1:0 Win for HR (revenge for euro ’12…Rakitic gets a haircut and, this time, coverts the winning header And my boy Stipe keeps the clean sheet; Ziva, Stipe is the only remaining professional athlete I jock-sniff, you would be proud!)
-Australia 1:1 Draw (this time Simunic gets 4 yellow cards and keeps playing)
-Mexico 3:1 Win for HR (it’d be fun, no? And I still remember Blancos fat rolls after he scored against us in 2002. Humble pie for my Mexican friends)
-Hrvatska
1) MONEY!!!! I was reading today how any team making the world cup gets a minimum 8mm Euro. The winner gets 32mm. I assume a good portion of this money goes to the players (50% ish) but the rest to the savez. This has to be a meaningful windfall for them no?! I can’t imagine their budget being very high. At the very least, it will help us pay some of the fines we get at every game
2) KOVAC
I was really excited by how we played the second game against Iceland (even with 1 man down). True, Iceland is not Argentina, but that game could have easily finished 4 or 5 -0. Only months before, we were on the brink of tying Liechtenstein with our defense giving up 2 goals to them. The Iceland team barely got a shot off in two games (even with a man advantage) and the offense finally looked exciting in the second game
@Karadzic – You are going to get in trouble with your fellow Cetnici hanging around with a bunch of Ustase.
Spremte se spremte…..da izgubimo opeta.
ok…everybody listen to Bee and don’t write about anything.
Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Says the BEE
SHUT UP GROUP OF DEATH OR WEAK GROUP ALREADY!!!
Lol thank you we will all know our fate tomorrow so save your cheers/excuses/complaints for tomorrow. All i know no matter who we get we will have to execute to get to 2nd round, no games are easy games, dreams come true at WC ANYTHING can happen, so shut up and enjoy 🙂
P.s friends are going to WC and the couple spend 10k on 2 people which includes food, accommodations and attendance of games. Now iam not sure but i think its only for 3 games of course and then anything else is extra.
@ Karadžić
If you want to learn something interesting about the origin of the Serbian three-finger salute, click on the link below (and this is from a Serbian website):

I guess you guys are just Orthodox Croats now 🙂
LOL @ the whole Greece love that Serbs have all of a sudden.
They used to hate each other, but now I guess they are suddenly “orthodox brothers”, lol. Too bad their orthodox Montenegrin, Bulgarian, and Macedonian “brothers” don’t feel the same way.
@Denis:
Point well noted. I was thinking from a footballing perspective, but you bring up valid points.
Picko, si tu? What pot is Serbia in?
What did you guys enjoy more…croatia placing third in 98, but had a very easy run in, or croatia not making it out of the group in 2012, but lost to tough competition?
EASY GROUP FTW
I really want Greece to beat up on Croatia you catholised serbs damn ustase
if memory serves me correctly holland were not as ready as the other guys in the last euro cup… i remember them having a tough group but i don’t think many people remember now that they had a hard group, just that they didn’t make it far
@ Denis – agreed
Shit, I’ve never wanted the hardest group, and I’m still not understanding some of you. I don’t mind half/half so we have to earn a place but I just don’t get the overwhelming calls for bring me the best?
@bobby,
I am all about matchups. Bring in the best out there only if we match up well against them.
So, let me get this straight. There wasn’t anybody here hoping we would draw France or Sweden in the playoff draw, right?
Who said “bring on the best” – it was more like “FIFA has it in for us, I know we are going to get one of those two teams”
Yet, now that Croatia is in the finals, we want the best?
Hypocritical much? I think it’s just a bunch of tough guy talk – some of you don’t even believe what you write.
I can tell you France wasn’t “Ready” to play last go around. I think they were sent home in coach from South Africa. That is a good example of nit being ready.
Stupid iPad…I meant to say nije bitno!
I think when someone says “ready” it means the opposite of how “unprepared” we looked when we played the last few games under Stimac. Ready is most likely what nine bit no meant as “prepared” which Ziva, if you know anything about the game means a whole lot! That’s why teams prepare…physically, mentally, tactically and strategy…being prepared! I find it hilarious that anyone discounts this…you don’t prepare for Iceland the same as you’d prepare for Spain….or do some of you think it’s all just the same?
@Bobby V,
I agree.
@Faux Cro,
I’m not sure how we match up against Brazil, but I do know that they will be at home. Also, I do know that even if they were drawn in the group of death, Brazil is getting to the second round for sure. If I look at pot A, only Brazil is guaranteed a passage to the second round. Even if Brazil struggle, FIFA will push them to the second round. Talk to King Bronk if you have any questions.
.
@nepoznat – Thanks for the info.
I guess if Croatia winds up in a “Group Of Death”, it would mean that the World considers you a very good side – I’ll take that compliment.
Out of everything that is said, let’s hope we don’t play the top seed until the last match in our group, much like in 1998 when we faced Argentina last.
Nice to play a couple of games to get ready and it even might mean that the game is meaningless…..or maybe a draw will get us thru.
Sime – you should have paid the 5K since your such a baller…
Ziva, I’m just messing with you. Those are your opinions and I’m cool with that.
5K “serious money”? Haha you yanks work for chump change
Play tough opponents early, say Zidane and Kempes
http://bit.ly/1gb8Pkq
you guys may not like what i say, but more times than not I am out in front.
@Nepoznat:
Thanks for the great info.
I wouldn’t mind a difficult group.
@ Denis:
What makes you think we don’t match up well against Brazil in particular?
I know we are not BiH (but there are some playing similarities), but they played well against Brazil in their last “friendly”. I only use the “” because there are no true friendlies when it comes to Brazil.
C jer ja volim zivu istinu
CSR world, lets all say a lil prayer tonight for jadan i mali ziva.
Multiple choice
What is likely to happen before the world cup starts?
A) Niko Kranjcar gives up big mac’s by the world cup.
B) Corluka picks up another STD before the world cup.
C) jadan i mali ziva istina gets a brain and shuts his sarcastic mouth?
D) Rakitic learns how to head a ball
E) ALL OF THE ABOVE
Mama Ziva dropped you on your head kad si bija mali I can see. It’s ok, we will all say a lil prayer for you tonight brate.
Ziva, heart is not equal in all people…
Good thing some of you guys aren’t paid to give commentary. I understand being a homer is inside all of us – some more than others – but it helps to be objective and open minded.
Nonsense like we need more “heart” or we will win if we are “ready” is comical. Right!!!!!! Like other teams don’t show up with “heart” and are “ready” to play.
“who is reaaaaaaally ready”
hahahha
line of the year.
Ziva,soccer is 80%skill and tactics…20% luck!
Who ever wins is READY and who loses isn’t dummy
It’s all about who is REALLY READY lol
stupid Ziva
well, what if the other teams and coaches are READY. What if we draw Brazil or Argentina and Holland in our group. If both teams are READY, who wins?
We can be READY and still lose.
Lets all say a prayer tonight hoping we have an attractive group so those of us who are traveling to Brazil next year spend their money on quality and substance.
Krapanj
Where are you from in Cro?
Nije bitno=hrvat!
I have no problem with who we draw. If the boys are ready physically and mentally then we shouldn’t worry about underplaying “easier” teams and all that nonsense.
The men in the checkers need to READY to play and the coach needs to be READY to coach plain and simple.
If our team and coach are READY, we should be able to advance into the 2nd round in any group.
@Bobby,
That line is worth a world cup win.
Italy has never beaten Croatia.
@lika Joey ,
Yes, no colombia for me.
Hahaha…I think that’s what we think Denis, not sure others view them that way? I could be wrong but although I have disliked their style for several years and was tired of their “we lost on penalty shots” bs, I think other than us, most countries respect Italy…we think they are weasels and I’ve never met a Croatian that backs down to a wop but that’s because they’ve always proven to be tough in numbers and pizda’s alone!
I would rather have:
Spain, Algeria, Korea,
Germany, chile, USA
than
Swiss, Algeria, Iran.
Take a look at Ukraine World Cup 2006. They had Spain, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia. They got blown out by spain 4-0 and advanced to the second round where they got blown out by Italy 3-0. Pathetic.
I would rather go out in the first round, honorably, against the big boys.
At the same time, I dont want Brazil, Holland, and Ivory Coast in our group.
We dont match up well against either of them.
Been to Rio before, and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. The scenary is stunning. The beach scene lives up to its reputation. However, not sure I would want to be in Rio during the WC. I’m actually hoping we get to play in the Northern cities. I’ve heard great things about Salvador and would actually look forward to a trip to Manaus.
@Slavonac,
I disagree. Its not all about winning. Italy has won a lot in their history, but whats the first thing people think about when you mention “Italy” …. pizde… They used to play not to lose instead of playing to win. Anyone that knows football thinks the same.
After winning the WC in 2006, the players didnt like the response from fans/media because everyone called them pizde. Everyone penciled in Italy as a “fluke win”. They can’t shake this reputation. Italy is trying to shake this reputation by changing their style.
Croatian media and fans blasted Otto Baric for playing a defensive style back in 2004 I believe.
Denis,columbia has flaco!
Armanda,I WOULD GIVE UP 5 YEARS OF MY LIFE TO SMASH GREECE!!!!!!
I just have a feeling that we will go into pot 2
And that USA will get drawn.
Who cares lets play some football. give me Germany Chile USA Croatia.
Pretty random but…am I the only one who has noticed that Niko Kovac has had a nose job since being a player or was this well documented before?
The funny thing about guys wanting us in an easy group vs hard is that every soccer nation I know would rather an easy group…ask any of your friends. You think Italians or Germans hope for tough groups? Most people remember who won the World Cup, not necessarily what group they were in on the path to the finals!
Italy have won 4 world cups and 2 of them pre WW11 and in 1934 in particular, Mussolini pretty much guaranteed Italy would win….the refs made calls heavily in their favour and…presto, Italy were winners. how many people ever bring this in conversation? ZERO… Because all that matters is who won!
We can say we want a tough group but part of the process is the draw, I hope we get an easy draw cause I don’t care if we have an easy first round…most teams that win do so with some luck!
nepoznat – thanks, that’s what i meant…
True, I have heard the same from others. I’m not expecting much in infrastructure and long delays going city to city.
@ziva
Good chance that i will be in brazil as well. I am hoping for a group where games take place in recife or close by since i would have a free place to sleep.
I will keep my fingers crossed.
Hope we don’t play in rio. I was there last year and its a total
Shit hole. Pretty much all brazil is. Just to let you guys know incase you seem excited to go. Nice beach in recife. Water in rio is freezing. Its really sad how bad the infrastructure is. I totally get why the people were rioting during the confederations cup. Build beautiful stadiums yet there isnt proper roads or a sewer system in place.
@Nije not entirely true, if we are not drawn into Pot 2 but one of those two teams are then we have a 1 in 8 chance of playing against them even though we weren’t drawn into Pot 2
I would rather have a group of death than a group of shit.
Ziva istina has a right to want the group of death if thats what he wants.
1) He’s paying top dollar to attend the games
2) being in the group of death is not as bad as it looks. Most likely, the world will predict that we finish last and would give us motivation.
3) We always play well against the better teams.
4) I can see us losing to a Iran or Algeria. How depressing would that be?
5) We were in group of death at the last Euros. (OK, Ireland sucked, but we had the two finalists in our group. WE played well against both.)
@JM………why not. A 2-week trip to Brazil is going to cost me well over $5K when you factor in ticket prices and all associated costs. We will for sure draw a tough team from Pot A, and I hope we draw some good teams from the other pots. Last thing I want is to spend my money on shit opponents. If I had my wish, I want to play the big boys, the big names. I look at it this way. We are not going to win the WC, so might as well get my full value by playing top-tier teams.
We match up well with the Italians and usually are on the winning side of the stick when we play. However unless we get thrown in the 2nd pot we don’t have a chance to play either of the two teams armada mentioned. At least in the first round we don’t.
@Armada that would mean we are in a group with Greece/Italia and lead by a Brazil/Argentina/Uruguay/Columbia… err no thanks
Armada – I know exactly what you mean, I’ve learned that Italians are just born kinda stupid but aren’t that bad…Greeks are plain and simply Neanderthals that remind me of Turks with huge attitudes.
@armanda, we lost to them in Greece and drew in Zagreb but that felt like a loss.
I want either Greece or Italy
If you grew up or know the landscape in and around Astoria, Queens, you would understand why.
Italians…well, I feel about Italians the way some might feel about Serbs. Again, if you’re not from Istra/Primorsko-Goranska, you might not understand….
Greece…grew up with tons of Greeks and they think they’re in the same league as a Spain and Germany, but then when you do win an arguement with them, the everlasting comeback for them is “hey, we won Euro 2004!!!” plus I could never get over the bad taste in mouth from those 2 losses vs. them in Euro 2012 qualifying
+1 JM!
Since we are on the topic of probability lately, let me continue the lesson. It’s great for cro to just be in the big dance, but in the end, we want them to make some noise. What you really want as a cro fan is the chance for a magical run, where you can get to the second round and lady luck is on your side to win you two games a la 98. That is where the true memories lie and allows people 16 years later to still reminisce with fondness and have that performance be the anchor of hope for cro soccer. and how do you have the greatest probability of that knock out round run??? by being in the easiest first group of course! so i am hoping for algeria, iran, swiss etc!
@ ziva : tsk tsk . yet again putting self interest in front of the repka. your main rational for them getting easy comp is to max out your dollars? tisk tssk
I’m baffled over how some of you guys are in such deep analysis BEFORE the draw….
Friends, do any of you work??! If not, let me know and I’ll try and help that way instead of running your 67th mock draw, get out of mama’s basement and make a living.
@lika Joey
I disagree, don’t go near Karadzic’s mom’s panties too skanky, but his sisters that’s quite another story!
I have been stressing this all week. Its all about matchups.
We want to avoid a fast-skilled striker… Uruguay, Belgium, Argentina…
Pot 2 would be a disadvantage, however, it all depends on the other 2 teams.
How would we do with: Colombia, Croatia, Iran, Greece?
I like our chances to advance.
@lika Joey……….depends who the teams are. Tough to say. Anything can happen; fluke goals, early goals, red cards, bad rer call, etc. Also depends on who you play first and the schedule. Not every game is equal……but, lets assume we drew a group with Brazil/Holland/Mexico/Cro…………..I would doubt that we would get through a group like that.
Inter might loan out Kovacic!
Why not?
Ziva,if Croatia hits form…can we get out of a group of death?
ombudsman? Lmao
And now we have people like Adame predicting where we will finish in the group stage long before the group stage is even announced. All right then!!!!!
I’m glad I am around as an ombudsman.
@Ziva
you’re going to Brazil for the world cup? That’s awesome. Hoping for a group of death also because i know our team can take them.
we can lose to anyone and we can beat anyone. That holds true for about half of the teams in the WC.
I can already see overreaction from fans if we get what some will call an “easy” group.
And I can see doom from our fans if we draw a group of death.
Fuck it, I want a group of death. I’m not flying over and spending serious cash to watch the Irana, Algerias, etc., of the world.
Dont know about you guys, but I think we’ll be ready for any group. Im predicting that no matter the draw, Hrvatska comes out second in the group if not first. Ajmo!
Well done Nepoznat!
did Karadžić je Heroj say something?
I would hate to be in a Swiss-Algeria-Iran group. We advance, who cares. We don’t, its a disaster.
I’m shooting for this: Spain/Algeria/ anyone besides Japan and Mexico
Hey what pot is Serbia in? Oh yeah….ouch.
Fuck off, Slave.
Hey admin how come you let that fucking albanian mock my account but I get warned cause Im hurting ustase feelings shit
that is very true, along with that the more teams entered the weaker the tournament gets.
I don’t watch football often but my friends tell me its a game where any team can win on “any given Sunday”…hockey has now closed the gap between 1st and 10th in a division and especially between 4th – 8th….soccer has also changed, that’s my point. years ago Cameroon showed up to a world cup without soccer boots, now they have the infrastructure and means to produce great players.
My opinion is you have to beat the better and worse…its all relevant and I think no team is a cake walk…we learned that against Australia in the past!
The best teams in Africa and Asia can compete against the weaker Euro teams…guaranteed!
Slavonac from Canada …the argument is often made that the World cup is an easier tournament than the Euro Cup….due to the “weaker teams”…
And I tend to agree with that argument…..because a “weak” team which makes it to the World cup (like Iran)….would still probably get beat by the weakest team which makes it to the Euro Cup
I don’t see it that way but that’s fine. you can’t get to a 2nd or 3rd round without playing teams that have beaten reputable teams…that’s a fact! a few months ago Ziva said we had an easier path when we were in France ’98, I disagreed…our first round was average but after than we played good teams that had a very good generation…Ie… Romania and Germany…then France
soccer has evolved throughout all the world now, just because the average person doesn’t consider a “weaker team” a respectful win, that’s their opinion. ask a professional player what they think and I guarantee you they know differently!
your last comment about “Even if we made it all the way to the finals by beating weaker teams…..” – this comment is purely ludicrous, sorry man I’m not trying to be offensive but its a ridiculous comment! there are no weak teams like there used to be…yes, there are weaker teams but “weak”…they normally wouldn’t make it out of the first round.
No apparently you don’t get it…
The goal is to beat anyone we play……but beating an Italy/Germany/Spain/Brazil….makes people take notice rather than beating Honduras/Australia/Iran/Algeria.
Even if we made it all the way to the finals by beating weaker teams…..sure we made it to the finals…….BUT WE BEAT WEAKER TEAMS and everyone would know that
hahaha…you don’t get it do you? so we can beat Italy and lose to the US, Australia and/or Honduras and we’d be “on the map”? rriiiggghhhtttt!!!
Very well Slavonac from Canada….you’re so right….by beating Iran or Algeria…….we will garner lots of respect.
We’ll get Rob Ford in a Croatia Jersey
Toronto Croatia – your theory is very old…the gap in the “map” you are talking about is slowly getting smaller and smaller. its no longer shocking when a team like Estonia gets a result against a bigger team, in the late 90’s and early 2000’s Iran had some very good and reputable players that had careers in Germany. most people that respect this game do understand that soccer nations have improved and with that said, many players from the former minnow countries do play in bigger leagues….
“We’re only kept on the map by beating good teams…” – opinions mean squat dude, soccer is played on the field and not by opinions. your opinion might be that Sweden is a decent soccer nation but they didn’t qualify…that’s just your opinion.
Anyone think our guys may play a friendly a few weeks prior to the WC in the US or Canada (probably less likely)? maybe even play a neutral opponent in a place like Chicago, New York or Toronto?
Downtown T.O will be nuts this summer!!
I just don’t want to loose to Italy, greece or Portugal…
Toronto Croatia, either way we will have a good team in our group.
We’re only kept on the map by beating good teams…
Beating teams like Iran or Algeria….nobody really cares….and its even WORSE if we actually lose to them.
Karadzic,I love sniffing your moms panties.
I like sweaty men in soccer uniforms. yummy! Can’t wait to go visit Ronaldo’s museum in Portugal and sniff one of his game worn jocks. A dream come true.
I guess Fifa ran a mock draft today and these were the results.

imagine drawing Iran and Algeria and not getting out of the group… rather have a decent group and make it out
whack teams calculate
nice research but the reality of all this is it really doesn’t matter where we play, what city, what region, what humidity and so on…the scenario will be the same for both teams, the ball bounces the same for both as well.
the absolute most important thing we have to do is be prepared, know our strengths, have a system, know our opponents….and everything will work out. you can’t control the weather but you can be in command of how well prepared we are and ensure every player understands the strategy. I don’t want to listen to comments from players where they say “we didn’t understand the coach’s system”…that would be an excuse!
Is the draw going to be shown in the U.S??? anyone know where i can watch it and what time?

@ Nepoznat-
Poor attempt at sarcasm- playing off of early percentage controversy…11.11 or 23.5 etc….
@K. Seems like you are looking for a team to support at the World Cup?
@Ziva that will also allow you to win a lot of money betting against Hrvatska! 😉
@NK Drava 2 out of 9 unseeded Euro teams will be in that World Cup Group either by being drawn into Pot 2 or drawn into the same group with the Euro team in Pot 2… let’s hope neither is us
Also does anyone know the religious demographics of the Bosnian team?
Interesting, personally I don’t think that Croatia will do very well, but some part of me hopes that you guys do well it would be nice to see the catholised serbs do good.
@Sude Mi…….at this point in Corluka’s career, i think he would be immune to even something from Brazil. Remember, this guy frequents Zrce. And that area is nothing but a walking homesexual, disease-infested hell hole.
I want Brazil – Holland – pick any team in pot 3 and Cro.
That gives me two must-see games to go to and part environments.
@nepoznat- No way we get moved to Pot 2 we are golden lately with draws. And I hear the percentage is very low…….sorry
@NK Drava
Interesting point on Brazil. I just hope it wouldn’t be in the pot with 2 good Euro teams, Brazil and NAmerican/Asian team
@IvicA I hear you on the revenge is sweet bit but be careful what you wish for! drawing Greece/England/France would mean we would also be in a group led by Argentina/Brazil/Columbia/Uruguay
I would love to draw any of Greece, England, France, Australia or Belgium and get ourselves some revenge against those teams. Croatia does pretty well in revenge games.
….And to a lesser extent, I wouldn’t mind some revenge against Argentina, Mexico, Spain, or Ecuador (but these Spanish/Latin teams didn’t show any arrogance or disrespect in their victory over us).
English press is complaining that Fifa has a hidden agenda for England to fail. I guess most countries feel Fifa is against them…
Nice report: Good research.
Pro: Getting Brazil in group. Finish 2nd and not see the eventual winner (Brazil) until later in the Tournament.
Stealing Ziva’s thunder a big Con would be Corluka shacking up with a few especially dirty Brazilian hoes and getting some new, tropical STD that hits him hard and fast!
LOL
what other Pros and Cons are you guys all monitoring? what else should we be looking at as the draw comes in other than which countries are in which group?
….okay
Draw aus plz and revenge for ’06
Croatia must go with any condition ..
Fight the strongest team –
undergo any destiny aside the good or bad of circumstance –
and do Fair Play <- can be honorable for us
