The Champions League ‘Round of 16’ draw was conducted Thursday, and for us fans of the beautiful game, the football gods were kind to us this time around. Luka Modrić and Real Madrid go back to England as they take on a mighty Manchester United side over two legs. Los Blancos already denied Manchester City progression in the tournament in the group stage, but can they do it again to big brother Manchester United as Cristiano Ronaldo returns to Old Trafford for the first time since his transfer in 2009?
In a battle of Croatians, Darijo Srna will lead Eduardo and his Shakhtar Donetsk club versus German champions Borussia Dortmund and Ivan Perišić. Shakhtar reached the quarterfinals in 2011. Will they do it again? And will Perišić be a part of this Dortmund club or will he be transferred out in the January window before this tie even gets underway?
Mario Mandžukić and Bayern Munich will take on a motivated Arsenal side in another anticipated ‘Round of 16’ matchup. With Mario Gomez back in form for the Bavarian side, how much time will Mandžukić see against Arsenal?
Other matchups:
Galatasaray v. Schalke 04
Celtic v. Juventus
AC Milan v. Barcelona
Valencia v. Paris Saint-Germain
FC Porto v. Malaga
jeez the people around here are getting fucking retarded. No Serb is going into a Champions League match and looking to injure a Croatian player, you people are fucking stupid if you think this, like seriously need to get your head checked. Outside of your little world Croatian and Serbs can co-exist, do not have to like each other but can be civil. You would think based on this message board that the relationship between the two is like when rival gangs in the hood see each other.
I agree with Ziva on this one. Serbs will not deliberately try to injure our players.
Their own careers are at stake and they don’t want to risk getting fined, carded, or banned for thuggish behavior. They could even hurt themselves in the process of a reckless challenge.
So, vidic, subotic and some of the other Serbs are going to jeapordize a chance to advance in the champions league for the remote chance of taking out one of our players????? My, how the mind wanders.
Are you the same conspiracy theorists who also believe that we sold the 98 world cup semi to France and that boban deliberately lost the ball to France.
It is the ethnicity of Mr. Vidic that trumps all and the position he plays on the field lends itself to bone crunching tackles and stupidity. Mr. Vidic knows damn well who is playing on the other side of the field and he would not mind helping out anyway he can. Take Modric out it changes the complexion of the meeting in March tremendously. Simple.
The guy to watch out for is Subotic. He is quite dirty, in the same mold and vein as chippy American hockey players. He grew up here did he not? Regardless, I would not put anything past him as he will be starting for the Serbs a couple weeks later. Probably paired up with Nastasić as Biševac and Tomović will be ineligible.
Jarac and I are not paranoid I assure you. Our eyes see clearly and we are aware of our surroundings. Thankfully.
what???????????
No, Ziva ur not using the same line of thinking, looks like u forgot our history already
Vidic isn’t playing on the National squad, and he dropped his allegiance to the team awhile ago.
End of the world type of paranoia. I think Vidic could care less to be honest.
ARSENAL, you got this!!!!!! Sorry Mandzukic!
Ibrahimović pred Disciplinskom komisijom zbog ‘slučaja Lovren’

nobodies taking out no one, the cetnik’s got other things on his mind.
no clue, just using the same line of thinking…………but saying a serb player is going to take out a cro player is an idiotic, homer-ish statement.
serb player i mean?
Ziva, what cro player is going to take out a croatian player? can you name one?
You also have that dirty prick Subotić for Borussia going against Eduardo and Srna. Out of the two scenarios, Vidic on Man U and Subotić on Borrusia you will get some retardation I guarantee it.
Listen to Jarac folks as they will do anything to get the advantage for the game in March.
It will be “Sport imitating life” in its truest form.
That would be nice
You guys are too paranoid. Who is to say that a Croatian player wouldn’t take out a Serb player.
Some good match ups!
Go Celtic!
I dont think he’ll go out of his way to harm Luka but given an opportunity he would take it (Similar to what Zlatan did recently against lovern)
Of course this assumes Luka will play, which is no guarantee.
Nice if Celtic could continue their run….YNWA
like my dida said never trust a serb, that goes for in football as well
Real Madrid goes to Manchester on March 5th 2013, just a little over two weeks before the big game in March.
All I can say is just keep Vidić away from Luka as that is a perfect opportunity for that idiot to do something stupid. Mark my words, if he indeed gets an opportunity to do something stupid he will do it! In order to make his “contribution” to help his team.
You can say I am paranoid and delusional all you want; I still don’t trust him or the situation and I never will.
Arsenal 🙂
