After finishing top of their Europa League group – only conceding one goal – Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb will now face Russian club Krasnodar in the Round of 32. Matches will kick off February 18th and 25th in a two-leg affair.
Krasnodar finished third in their Champions League group behind Chelsea and Sevilla.
Not the easiest draw for Dinamo but definitely doable. Dinamo took four points off of CSKA Moscow in group stage; who are considered a better team in Russia than Krasnodar.
In Champions League news, Luka Modrić and Real Madrid will face Mario Pašalić and Atalanta in the Round of 16. Mateo Kovačić and Chelsea will play a healthy Šime Vrsaljko and Atletico Madrid. Ivan Rakitić and Sevilla take on Borussia Dortmund. Matches kick off February 16th.
Hi there mates, how is all, and what you wish for to say on the topic of this piece of writing, in my view its actually amazing in support of me.
I WILL CARRY SEVILLA TO CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GLORY! THEN MAYBE RAQUEL WILL FINALLY MAKE LOVE TO ME
Vrsaljko got subbed in today for Atletico and scored just 6 minutes later… shows how hungry he was after missing so many games.
I think one of them will play. Not sure if he has the balls to bench both.
.
If he benches both, and any of the new guys screw up, then he looks like an idiot for making the change, when he had our World Cup CB pair sitting on the bench.
.
If he plays it safe and sticks with the Vida/Lovren combo. Then most people wouldn’t fault him too much if they screw up.
.
Lovren and Vida is the less risky pick (in terms of getting fallout from fans and media).
Let’s hope we can have a major tourney championship within in the next ten years
But can dalic really not play Lovren and vida back there???
Bradaric pongaric/gvardiol caleta-car vrsaljko euros is a possibility??
The March games will really show us what lineup and formation Dalic is thinking of using in the Euros.
.
Unlike UNL, there is no excuse for experimentation with the WC2022 qualifying games.
.
It’s also two-and-a-half months before our Euro2021 games.
Whatever lineup we field in that Slovenia away game, is probably going to be what we plan on rolling out against England in June.
.
The could also be quite a few developments happening from now until end of March. We have young guys like Gvardiol, Sosa, Bradaric, Majer, Basic and Moro gaining more high level experience…and injured guys like Pongracic and Vrsaljko will be getting back into form.
.
The lineup will look far different from our UNL games, and might even look different than what we expect for these Euros.
.
Hopefully we see some of our top youngsters pushing aside some of the vets that showed very little in UNL, and that this U21 Euro tournament doesn’t hold Dalic back from making those selections.
@Maminjo
Well said. Our defensive talents are outstanding right now. Finally some SOLID depth. As much as I love all the NT guys, no more need for guys like Melnjak. We’re taking a huge step forward in these next 2-3 years
I think one of the Madrid clubs will take it…so we will continue our UCL winners streak. I hope Modric somehow manages to drag real to the finals.
Take it nice and slow Šime.
.
We need you badly for the year 2021.
.
With Bradarić, Ćaleta-Car, and Gvardiol making some serious strides for our National team….our area of weakness could finally be a strength.
I think that our streak of Champions League winners ends this year.
Nice to see the word “healthy” next to Sime’s name
