Mijo Caktaš’ 60th minute goal Thursday night was good enough for a 1-1 draw against Turnovo in Macedonia, earning Hajduk Split a spot in the third qualifying round with a 3-2 aggregate score. Caktaš dribbled the ball through multiple Turnovo players and fired from 10 yards out for the opening goal. Hajduk would concede late to make the game interesting in the waning minutes when Pandev put one in the back of the net in the 70′. But the legendary Croatian club weathered the storm and will now play Dela Gori, who finished second in the Georgian first league last year, next week in the Europa League third qualifying round. The first leg will be August 1st at Poljud with the return match August 8th in Gori, Georgia. Hajduk should progress, but with the lackluster performance they put in against Turnovo, anything can happen.
It looked as if Lokomotiva’s Cinderella start to the season would continue Thursday after falling behind 2-0 to Dinamo Minsk, as Petar Misic would cut the lead in half in the 68th minute and Mario Situm would equalize four minutes later. A 2-2 draw would have seen the Lokosi go through to the next round, as they won the first leg in Belarus 2-1, but it wasn’t meant to be as Minsk’s Lazar Veselinovic would score his second goal of the match in the 82nd minute to give Dinamo a 3-2 win. Although the aggregate over two legs was tied at 4-4, Dinamo moves on with the away goals rule, scoring three to Loko’s two. Although Lokomotiva will be disappointed by the loss, it will be considered a success in the club’s first ever European matches.
Rijeka ran away with their tie against Prestatyn Town, winning 3-0 in Wales Thursday night after a 5-0 victory last week at home. Goals from Ivan Močinić (36′), Ivan Boras (39′) and Goran Mujanović (66′) would easily seal an 8-0 aggregate win over two legs. Rijeka will now test themselves against Slovakian Cup runners-up Žilina in the third qualifying round. The first leg will be August 1st in Rijeka and should be much more difficult than the matches with Prestatyn Town.
So were/are Bayern and BVB
hahaha… that sho9uld be his new nickname
Mr Ziva ‘the mistake by the lake’ .. LOLLLL
lol mistake by the lake
@ Ziva
Lol. Level headiness on our thread.
This Croatian identity debate is hilarious!
What are we then? Are parents are Hrvati what in gods green earth would we be?
You think Croatian roots can be denied?
Our roots are generations deep into NASA Zemlja .
When you step on Croatian soil you feel it in an instant. It is in your soul-body and stays with you where ever you are.
We are just different flavors of the same ice cream.
I am a New York flavor.
Iggy is a strange Aussie flavor.
Ziva is “mistake by the lake” flavor.
Mertho is smotan flavor.
Etc…
The problem is when we think jogoda is more important than sladoled!
My favorite is bajadera sladoled.
@ matesicmethod
” lets start with respect then the love will flow”
Stop being a fool by making threats on this site. Maybe after that you will get respect.
@Anonymous
Born and raised in East Van!
Worked in tourism for a long time so my opinion is well formed.
It usually only takes me a minute to figure out if someones from Alberta, The Prairies, Ontario, Quebec, or the Maritimes.
I don’t get into the dinamo and jadan i mali hajduk hate, never have.
But, what do you mean by financially helping each other out? They are competitors, no reason to do that.
Great to see our squads advancing. I am a huge Hajduk supporter but I asked an older Croatian 2 weeks ago who is a huge Dinamo supporter who he rooted for. “Kome god tribalo”. Would be nice if clubs had eachothers backs in Europe and also financially helping eachother out. Unfortunately it isn’t that way and never will be.
@annonymous, go fuck iggy’s cunt you fucking dress pant white sweat sock wearing hercegovac
@bee…………wait a minute, you don’t like hearing from people who were born 30-40 years AFTER WWII explaining what took place. Your attempt at being level headed has no room on this website.
this is what i hate about our people, not just that they are ignorant violent scum but that even on a sports website all they seem to talk about is politics and not just any politics but the politics that happen a long time ago and who is right and who is a ustasa and chetnik and he said she said bull shit. I sometimes have a lot of hatret towards ignorant people who still live in the past.
@za E-U spremni………agreed. the dispaora community hit their heyday in the early 90s. Perfect timing of the war and independence taking place delivered a level of nationalism and pride that will never be topped. All at the same time as the children born from the wave of immigrants who came in the last 60 and 70s apprached adulthood.
Our children will never experience what we had growing up. In some aspects it will conitnue in some communities but not in the same way. It is what it is…the current generation of parents have failed their children
Armada is the biggest wop …….
Prize could be a bowl of sarma!
I think we should have a thread dedicated to it – Biggest Hrvat of CroatianSports 2013
my vote goes to Cico
i thought ante b was australian for some reason – was that incorrect?
Matesic: i have been told i might be bipolar before LOL in any case dont worry the more familiar raging iggy has made an appearance in the newer thread to kick things off in that one 🙂
Who is the biggest Hrvat so far?
@ nije bitno and ziva . like i previously said, “croatian” is a dead ethnicity. The immigration waves in the 1960’s that established these croatian communities abroad have occurred long ago, and the younger generations are naturally integrating into american society and losing links to croatian iditenity. this is a natural process and cannot be stopped. as previously explained as well, croatia itself will soon begin to fade as it has one of the lowest birth rates in europe and e-u borders are opened up allowing many croats to flee and many non-croats in. the croatian thing was a fun ride for about 1000 plus years (actually it looks like a miserable ride of 1000 years of war), but in a modern era where fast speed travels allows large migrations of people, ethnicity is dead. so lets all cheer for the soccer team, but just understand the sun sets on croatian people and we’re on a sinking ship
porko dio, the whole neighborhood went to shit in one night, huh?
Splico, ako to nije “hrvatski brought to you by Google Translate”
LMAO
@ why
Lets start with respect then the love will flow.
@ Iggy
Well said. Are there two Iggys?
Jarac shut up. You are the biggest troll and pizda on this site. Get help for your problems and take cico along.
Ante have a hell of a time and enjoy. Send jarac a post card. Bog I Hrvati.
Enjoy the concert.
Lol @ Americans arguing who is the bigger croat.
Thought you’d be busy shooting up schools and cinemas
What’s sorta ironic is earlier in this thread, there was lament about how there has been something of a loss of Croatian identity in recent generations, ziva with his usual parents failed u if u dont speak Croatian etc.
Then it moved onto people having goes at each other because their Croatian had some errors, and finally back to the usual thing on this site, “im more hrvati than you” etc. I hope the cyclical irony of a community that doesn’t welcome people complaining itself how kids don’t identify with the community isn’t lost on us all.
It’s like on the one hand saying its such a tragedy the youth don’t speak hrvati, and then on the other hand abusing people ithey dont speak the language perfectly. Its a self defeating prophecy.
Many clubs in Hercegovina start with ustaski pjesme before moving to cajke..
Boom, is the sound of Ante B hitting the ground after acting like a “dumb Amerikanac” in HR
But anyways znam da si tvrdoglav, enjoy the motherland
And I’ve proved it well.
Not bad for an amerikanac.
Boom.
@Ante B.
Fact, u wont be singing evo zore evo dana at a bar in zagreb
Fact, u wont be acting like a veliki hrvat in front of the real hrvati, because to them ur a veliki amerikanac.
Fact, I really dont give a shit about many of the croats within the croatian community in diaspora, why cause many act like u.
To me ur just an american boy trying to hard to prove he is croatian.
“FACT – croats in diaspora and croats in the domovina are of 2 different breeds.”
Uh oh, Captain Obvious alert. We’ve said this many times.
“I will remind u that these discussions that go on here do not happen in the homeland, another fact why croatian diaspora communities suck.”
Uh oh, liar and self hating alert. Don’t worry we all know the type who says that and yearns to be part of the community. You posting here only confirms that. Sorry but had to call you out.
Sorry if I don’t respond to you but the plane engine is too loud because I’m actually going to Croatia right now. Boom.
Bog i Hrvati

For U AssWipes who say Split was for jugo U should go tell that to the People from Split that Fought for Croatia’s Freedom ! Some of the Most feared Fighters came from Split U Asshole Cowards . @ ziva and other
– u guys ever thought of why many dont give two shits about diaspora community, cause there sick of shit like this. FACT – croats in diaspora and croats in the domovina are of 2 different breeds. I guess to Ziva if u go to church and dance kolo ur a Croat. Well, I’m opposite, church on special occasions, dont dance kolo, dont care too, but enjoy going back to the domovina and hanging out with family and friends there. That is being a hrvat to me. Where by the way if ur so disconnected to the homeland that, I will remind u that these discussions that go on here do not happen in the homeland, another fact why croatian diaspora communities suck.
Medieval folklore idealized true Hrvati. Our ancestors consisted of Dinaric clans that fought for centuries together as Croats.
For generations they passed on moral codes. I remember listening to the stories of my grand-parents, the old ways as they put it…
When I was boy, I helped my grandparents on the family farm. I remember my Baba singing “Vila Velebita,” as she worked the land. This left an indelible impression on me.
The moral of this story, we have to set aside regional differences and be united. And cherish our culture.
Oj ti vilo, vilo Velebita,
Ti našeg roda diko,
Tvoja slava jeste nama sveta,
Tebi Hrvat kliko:
Ti vilo Velebita,
Ti našeg roda diko!
Živila, premila,
Živila, premila,
Živila, oj premila,
Ti vilo svih Hrvata!
Velebite, vilovito stijenje,
Ja ljubim tvoje smilje.
Ljubim tvoga u gorici vuka,
Ličkoga hajduka.
Ti vilo Velebita
Ti našeg roda diko!
Živila, premila,
Živila, premila,
Živila, oj premila,
Ti vilo svih Hrvata!
Splico, ako to nije “hrvatski brought to you by Google Translate,” onda ja se zovem Cedo Pregdanovic i navijam za Radnika. Dzava te odnija
I bet you Cico is on that list.
@super splican…..yeah, but wouldn’t that hurt me.
As the song goes………..u ljubav vjere nemam.
Ziva can take that list, light it on fire and ram it up his dupe!!!! Hahahahs’!!!!!!!!
Ziva don’t waste your time with majstore. Poor guy has issues with everyone and what is with matesic method making threats everytime. Where is the love on this site. Ah fuck it let’s see that list.
were the biggest yugos. the oldtimers are slowing dying off.
Agreeing again with little zivica, splicani were the biggest YUGOS!
@majstore…..what is your problem. Never said I had a “secret” list. Just said I had a list. It appears you got some issues with me. Do share????
@Ante B…….yep, plenty of the old guard in Split were jugo lovers/apologists……
Eyyyy Ante zašto ne odeš u Zagreb i dobiti jebeno u dupe je pretilo, bolesti opustošen srpskih li izdajnik
Hahahaha “likani” and “istrani” and “jugoslavi”
To stari tooo kralju! I know my Croatian is not the best but I hope it never gets to this level where I say Likani and Istrani instead of Licani and Istrijani jebo ti purger mater
Hey Ziva, Splicani, biggest yugos? My lips are sealed.
Lol @ the trolling going on here btw
But we can’t forget the biggest troll of them all. Jadan i mali ziva istina. Wouldn’t be surprised if you are the biggest udbas of them all, since your sole purpose on here seems to be to anger and divide everyone as much as you possibly can. Classic udba tactics.
Applause to you
*golf clap*
and the famous, big time Ziva – you are a cocksucker and I hope you finally admit your family are a bunch of chetnici in hiding, coward
and all these purgeri, likani, istrani and jugoslavi can fuck right along too, fuckin trash
ja sam PRVO DALMATINAC!!!! the rest can fuck right along!!!!!!
@ poglavnik push comes to shove yeah i’m canadian….
are you born there ? and if so YOU ARE F NUTS…….
Please tell me how much I need to pay to have one of you pederi see me in person and call me jugo.
Pickati materina!
On a lighter note. I am going with Josip Skoblar as the champion of Privlaka(Zadar), Dalmacija, Hrvatska!
So throw in Kresimir Cosic and Luka Modric and Zadar is back to being the center of the Croatian Universe.
Wow sick bro, so you mean you have that top secret file that was floating around for years which was readily available for everyone to see !?
That is some next level shit right there.
shit just got real……….
I got the udba list somewhere in my files…..found out some interesting things about a family friend and others. Very interesting how some of the now more wealthier hrvati/ community leaders in Canada and the US came about their start.
By the way, the biggest jugo lovers were Splicani.
Most of you who are still arguing about who the biggest hrvati are, what regions are better then others are uneducated imbeciles (figures, most of you are Americans).
Lol at jugo
My entire family were ustase (hercegovac, what else). I don’t need to broadcast that to anyone though nor do I care too. Like I really need some approval from Internet idiots or people in general.
And I don’t see how bringing up shit from 70 years ago is in anyway relavent to the problems that are going on today.
Born and raised in Imotski and loves Dinamo. Now there is a proper Hrvat dame i gospodo
Actually people like Matan are bang on. Good for him to bring up the UDBA. This only upsets jugos like majstore and matesicmethod.
“Got to love our Croatian kuckooness. This is exactly why we are lost in today’s world. We are superimposing midievel politics on our modern nation state.
So few of us and we debate who is the most Hrvat .”
Pretty much yeah, one of the main reasons why Croats are idiots.
Boban was born in and lived in the city of Imotski. Juat to aettle any disputes with the Ere. 🙂
Joe Šakić’s ćaća is from Imotski. Mama from Lika. Zvone Boban’s mama is from Imotski, ćaća from Bobanova Draga (Hercegovina) – formerly Imotski. Ivan Gudelj Imotski. Ivan Buljan Imotski. Ante Rebić Imotski. Stipe Pletikosa, majka Imoćanka. 🙂
@MatesicMethod
Fact: Joe Sakic’s parents are from there too!
I have jumped in the watering hole in Imotski, does that mean I get to be real Hrvat?
Nin is the Kings town and Zadar is the jewel of the Adriatic.
BUT! Zvonimir Boban is from Imotski so I have to go with Imotski has the center of the Croatian Universe!
Got to love our Croatian kuckooness. This is exactly why we are lost in today’s world. We are superimposing midievel politics on our modern nation state.
So few of us and we debate who is the most Hrvat .
BORAT called and he wants his script back.
“I am number one Croat in all of web log”
Boze mi moj!
@ Matane
I remember visiting Imotski to check out Plavo jezero and Crveno Jezero. They are really nice. Have you ever gone swimming in Plavo Jezero?
My impression of Imotski was that of a country town deep within the Croatian hinterlands. It was rustic and nice.
You don’t know what I’d say. The main thing preventing me from saying I’m British Columbian would be the fact that the person might not know where that is. When push comes to shove then yeah I’m “Canadian” but lets just say that there are parts of Canada that Id rather not be associated with. Americans should be able to relate to that.
@Iggy
Quebec is a complicated one that I’m not that educated on. I know in the mid 90’s there was a referendum on whether they wanted to separate from Canada and it very nearly happened.
@ Poglavnik
When someone around the world asks you dont say i’m British Colombian
USTASHE HERCEGOVCI ….
@ Matan
Poglavnik- what’s going on with the regions in Canada, as u kinda alluded to? Someone was telling me the other day Quebec has its own welfare laws etc quite apart from the rest of the country and is wanting some form of independence .. whats thego? Seems odd to an aussie to have what we would class as federal laws variant on region.. (tho I know it certainly wouldn’t to Yankee doodles)
@Matan
You are on a roll today. I’m off line for a few hours and boom. Here we go.
To be continued…
Myth-busters, too!
Top Yugo Secret police:
Ivan Stevo Krajačić – Slavonija
Josip Manolić – Slavonija
Josip Perković – Slavonija
Stipe Mesić – Slavonija
Ivan Lasić Gorankić – Hercegovina
Mišo Deverić – ZG
Marin Modrić – Zadar
Vinko Sindičić – Krk
Zdravko Mustač – ZG + ZD
Smiljan Reljić – Drniš
A gle, to je medu vama.
The Anonymous 1″ your an idiot just like ziva!
hercegovci are croat first and only croat!!!!!!!!!
i know many of them and they will fight for cro till they die and not just rotate their kapa….
Oprosti, jebe me tipkovnica. LIKE IT IS.
Same bombshell that has been opened here many times b4.
Is it really that interesting to keep re-hashing old arguments ad nauseum?
Ante, remember. We Imoćani are the truth-bearers. Dalmatinci, to boot. We call it is (was).
And there goes the bombshell. Boooom.
Pandora’s box has been opened. This should get very interesting.
Fact: Majority of Dalmatinci were Yugoslavs during Yugo while most Hercegovci were Hrvati.
If I ever saw a crime…
Folks from RH have no right to criticize Hercegovci for being ” Hercegovina first.” Especially not Dalmatinci. The former have the luxury of being a part of RH
while the latter do not. History has proven, unfortunately, that many Dalmatinci (not Zagora, of course) could care less what state they belong to. Yet they’re Dalmatianhood was always pronounced. Hercegovci have the misfortune of not being in the Croatian state. A crime, of there ever was one.

I’m with ziva on this hercegovac discussion! I usually don’t agree with zivica but completely agree with him on this one.
Some of my best friends are hercegovci , I have 2 uncles that are hercegovci and I tell them all what zivica said about hercegovci to their face. And if I was standing in front of any hercegovac I’d tell them no differently. I said it before and I will say it again, hercegovci are hercegovci first and Croatian when they wanna be Croatian (ex, World Cup, euros etc..)
IMicrosoft, IBM, Apple, Coca Cola, Imotski, Mercedes. Not in any particular order. Hahahaha
It means that when you cross the border from RH to BIH, (Dalmacija into Hercegovina) you will notice that the huge polje still carries its original name – Imotsko polje. Half of it is in Dalmacija and the other half in Hercegovina. 🙂
Yeah no clue what that means.
When the venetians liberated Imotski in 1717, they attached it to Dalmacija. But they settled the border dispute with the Turks in such a way, that Posušjde and Grude were stripped from Imotski. That’s why half of Imotsko polje is in today’s Hercegovina.
Interesting.
from the middle ages. Hercegovina was founded centuries later.
i must admit my family has fallen a bit out of the briscro community too cos i remember growing up every other week u would be at croatian church or there would be a croatian wedding at the croatian club brisbane but for whatever reason it isnt so active for us anymore even my dad included who was very instrumental in getting croatia recognised here in aus in the early days of pre-independence.
On a sidenote for anyone slightly interested in politics he said that julia gillard, and im talking about more than 20 years ago here, was one of the most stubborn anti-hrvati politicans who refused to grant even the idea of independence to us back then so i dont think he was complaining too much when she got booted out of the prime ministership recently : )
Imotska bojna of the 4th Split Brigade was partially populated by Hercegovci. Thus, the lyric in that particular song. The bojna, ho
There is no confusion of Dalmacija & Hercegovina in Imotski. The border is the border. The history is overlapping and quite complicated. Imotski is one of the original Croatian župas
I
Matane,
I will get back to you about yesterday’s post. Packing for Croatia and was just too tired. But I have a question…
Keep in mind my parents are Purgeri and I married a Hercegovka so my ignorance of the southern regions is quite high. Is there a divide in Imotski of who is a Hercegovac/Dalmatinac? From my experience and the Imocani I know, oni su tovari, pardon, Dalmatinci but then I’m reminded of that lyric “tu je bojna Imotska, hercegovacka”. What gives?
Signed,
Confused in ZG
Pavelić u pismu svome povjereniku Luetiću: “(…) Pozdravi mi Imotsku krajinu – ustašku kulu(…)”
We all have interesting stories, anonymous. No region is immune from crap and traitors. Not even Hercegovina. The difference is in the degree of crap and traitors. Hercegovci tend to not like to admit it, their pronounced Croatianhoodnotwithstanding.
To tell you the truth I’ve always identified with regions more than entire countries. As a Canadian I really don’t feel like us British Columbians relate to the rest of Canada very well, and likewise with being a Hercegovac and relating to other Hrvati. And America seems to be just as divided as anywhere else in the world. Nothing wrong with keeping our regional identities.
@ ZIVA bull !!!!!!
BOG I HRVATI!!!!!!
ahhh, i get it now……
Hercegovci are to Imoćani what Sinjani are to Rama.
drugs are to splicani what no condoms are to African men or being cheap (skrt) is to Slovenians as running away and hiding is to Zadrani.
Matan
Ill agree with you to a point ( lets leave it at that) i grew up with pavelics treasurer… quite intresting stories that were told about certain regions…..
Imoćani are the proto-Croats. They don’t suffer from regional complexes. Imoćani = Hrvati.
negative………..I always said I am hrvat first and I have never led with the region.
Imoćani are the original BRAND. The Mercedes, the šverc, business… Imoćani did it first. Heck, even half of Pavelić’s 500 original ustaše were Imoćani. There’s the genesis of the confusion.
Hercegovci are to Imoćani what Sinjani are to Rama. 🙂
the problem ziva is you people that like to say what region your from instead of saying your a croat are the problem.
or they think Imocani are crooks, hence the confusion.
i AGREE matan
Imoćani are the only Dalmatinci with balls. That’s why everyone thinks they’re Hercegovci.
your right , very thin skin….
i just proved my point …
and yes only hercegovci the only ones with BALLS…
dalmatinci are all commies and in istra they say they are wops …
So, if the hercegovci saved Croatia (I’ll play along), does that mean the splicani slept, the zadrani ran away, and the people of Istra ignored everything. I just want to make sure I am up to date on all of my generalities…..
ohhhh, so it was only the hercegovci who saved Croatia????? had no clue.
And I would stand next to a hercegovac – if and when I do leave the confines of my fortified basement, but I’m afraid I would be robbed of my valuables.
Geez, some people have very thin skin.
Imoćani saved Croatia. Hercegovci helped. That much is true.
this ziva guy is such a f’n punk! i would love for you so called croats to stand next to a hercegovac and talk this way….. just remember who saved croatia
Keep reading. You enjoy the taste.
ive never read so much bull in my life
ZG is the Herz of Herzegovina.
@Ante B
Yeah, please do and let us know cuz last time i was there (nearly 10 years ago) there were none!
It depends who you ask.. I’ve heard Mostar, Ljubuski, Siroki, Posusje
The penalty miss at the end of the game last week in Minsk came back to really bite Loko in the ass…Wouldve been nice to have all 4 teams advance.
@Ante B……..i’ll send prayers your way. When driving, please count the number of posters/signs you see for serb singers throughtout the region.
Hercegovci, evo noći evo dana, svi u ime Jure i Bobana.
Sa Široka Bruno Bušić viče, viče, za Dom spremni Poglavniče.
Pet stoljeca mi smo robovali, zbog Hrvatske časno umirali
I will be in Ljubuski next week for the first time. Can’t wait!
If ljubuski is the heart, I’d hate to see what the armpit is.
Hey Hercegovac, all the Herc’s around here tell me Ljubuski is the heart of Hercegovina! What gives?!?!
and Ruben Lima signed with Dinamo today for approx 300K. Expecting fake outrage by jadan i mali hajduk fans in 3,2,…..
Congratulations to Siroki Brieg for advancing to the 3rd qualifying round for the first time ever. The heart of Hercegovina
Dinamo zapad has a nice ring to it…

Anybody see the above headline yet? Care to comment? LOL
How do you think Josipovic took it? I’d say, up the arse.
It’s not Hercegovina you’re ashamed of. 🙂
anyone speak cakavski here?
If I was a Hercegovac, i wouldn’t be ashamed (well, maybe just a bit), we all hrvati….
Rijeka once again coming out guns blazing vs. this Welsh team, with Benko on the bench.
Ikavica isn’t exclusive to Dalmatinci. Most Croats use Ikavica.
I know where you’re from. Relax, I won’t out you. You shouldn’t be ashamed, though. And I don’t know why you are.
while it would be fun to play the who is or what is Ziva Isitna game, I’m sure most don’t care for it.
I’m no hercegovac. I’m surprised that you said that. When I type in Cro its pretty easy to determine where I am from based on how I use and spell some of the words (then again, i could be doing that to throw you off).
thaught?
doofusts?
pizdas?
victoms?
arrogant mamic!!
another legendary post by Cico – bravo čo!
@Ziva,
Ti si Hercegovac 1,000%
Cico, shut up and learn how to spell. “victoms” “thaught” You play a crappy team and you tie. SRAMOTA
Remember #1 team is Dinamo, Champions. First place. Bog, Torcida, Mamic, arrogant BBB, osijek, rijeka, dubrovnik, HNS
Bring on the next Victoms ! I thaught the Most Loved Team was going down Mr. Armada 875224669096532249 , & Mr. Ziva U Fake Ass Hajduk Fan ! Now U Doofusts can go , & root for your Real love – Arrogant Mamic/dinamo ! Pizdas. Naprid Bili ! Bog, Hrvati ,USA , Champion L.A. Galaxy , Hajduk , i HNS !!!
@Luka……….that what you described are parents who have failed their kids.
@Sude Mi………true, same story can probably be repeated throughout the diaspora. Sadly, for many, they think because they follow croatian soccer or croatian athletes that makes them croatian or connected to the homeland.
@Matan Spalatrin…………no hercegovac blood in me (although, I have been inside hercegovke – jel to vridi????)
@Sude Mi
Natural evolution is merely a phrase for being lazy. You have done a good job of retaining the language and customs and passing it along to your children. Many have not and could not care less.

Ziva and Nije Bitno make a valid point. I recall growing up, attending Croatian school, picnics, deseti travanj zabava, etc. So many would go. it was zoo.
Today I have friends who have kids and don’t send them to croatian school, kolo, etc. They lost interest and could care less for anything Croatian until the World cup or Euro rolls around and they are back on the bandwagon
Natural evolution for the expat community all over the world. You can’t fight it. In the Toronto area, the Slovenians preceeded Croatians here, saw it first hand with them and the Italians, now it is our turn.
My daughter learned her Croatian from her grand-parents, is basically fluent. My son? His Croatian school consisted of being taught by a teacher who spoke pretty well mostly in English and showed them movies….joke.
Whereas us 40-somethings as kids rarely got to Croatia in the summers because we couldn’t afford it and that little Yugo thing, now everyone goes for long stretches and the picnics are deserted. Inter-marrying is natural and that has also resulted in a more homegenous diaspora.
I stopped worrying about it after spending probably 10 years working my part-time ass off keeping our little local Croatian soccer club relevant while others went to the bigger Canadian clubs because they thought their kid was the next Messi, irrespective of the chance to mingle with Croats.
It is what it is, nothing will change it.
Ja sam ponosan da sam Hrvat, da su me roditelji naucili pricat i pisat po Hrvatski i tako moja djeca su naucili. Svaki za sebe…..
Rijeka to play Zlina from Slovakia next round after they beat Olympija 2-0 today.
what a stupid mistake by Milic. I still have high hopes for him i think he’ll turn out to be a stud.
Is ex-dinamovac Pandev related to Pandev The Great?
watch Turnovo snatch a late goal haha
its almost over 1-1
Hajduk is one interesting club, eh?
Ziva from Pag? Not a chance. There’s a Hercegovac hiding behind that handle.
Does anybody know where i can watch the Hajduk game without it cutting out every minute ! THANK U ! Bog , Hrvati , USA, Hajduk , i HNS !!!
Ziva is from Pag and meets up with Vedran Corluka at Zrce in the summer to double team unsuspecting slooters

Ziva is from Posusje, no?
@Ziva
You’re Hilarious!
Agreed with you on that…..But, I think a lot of this starts at the local community level.
How many parents are sending their kids to croatian school, to kolo???? How many croatian communities have a croatian soccer club with a juniors program??? Not many. That is what needs to be rebuilt at the lcoal level. Their was great rpide back in the arly and mid 90s. That is no longer there.
We are to blame for the lack of interest post war. Our elders are too old and can careless the young ones dont really understand the pride we feltduring the 90’s. It is us that need to push our elders and get the young ones on point. Instead of sitting here down talking the idea and saying it would be better for the two teams to play somewhere else, we should be pushing our elders and young ones to go to the game. I know i can get at least 50 people to go (50 meaning that wouldn’t want to go cause they are old and don’t care anymore or the young ones that don’t think its “cool”). If every one of us got 5,10,15,20 to go and that domino affect took place i think the outcome would be decent.
the reason they drive fast in hercegovina is because they are driving at max speed to: 1.) either to get the hell out of hercegovina or 2.) they just stole something and need to get away.
Speaking of Hercegovci and their Mercedes, is there anywhere on the planet where they drive faster than in Hercegovina?
much like a hercegovac and an early 90s Mercedes, its tough to break the habit.
^^ Hajduk in CAP again.. you can’t hide your secret love for them Ziva (^__^)
If my jadan i mali hajduk cant advance today then the entire team should not return to Hrvatska. This Macedonian side will have no support today, maybe a few thousand in the stands. There is no reason for hajduk not to advance.
How many of you heard of Turnovo before Hajduk was drawn against them? Nobody. Going out today would be as a bad as going out 8-0 to Debrecen and losing out to mighty Shelbourne.
fuck you iggy
Hajduk will make it.. GOSH COME ON havent u been listening to CICO they are da most loved team in the HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE they have to make it !!
I’m not entirely confident Hajduk will make it- sounds like a tricky fixture. Hoping they pull through. Naprid Bili!
Hope the others make it too, in European competition I am happy for all Croatian teams to progress.
