Slaven Belupo was the last remaining winless club after six weeks of play, but that changed on the seventh try when the Pharmacists hosted NK Istra 1961.
Slaven dealt Istra a 5-1 blow to kick off the match week on Friday. Two goals from Tomislav Božić, and a goal a piece from the ageless Ivan Krstanović, Nemanja Glavčić and Martin Boakye were more than enough to seal the three points for Slaven.
Despite earning only ne win thus far in the season, Slaven sit in sixth place on the league table thank s to a lengthy series of draws earned in the previous weeks.
The Marquee Matchup this weekend featured undefeated Dinamo Zagreb and second place HNK Gorica.
Gorica has been punching above their weight for some time now since entering the league in the 2018/2019 season. It was expected that Gorica would give Dinamo a tough battle, and that is exactly what fans were given on Saturday at Maksimir.
Mario Gavranović gave Dinamo a two goal lead with goals in quick succession in the 32nd and 36th minutes.
Dinamo coach Zoran Mamić altered the second half line up to only include three defenders in the back, giving more space to the Gorica offense.
Gorica scored two quick goals of their own in the 46th and 50th minutes thanks to Ognjen Mudrinski and Jiloan Hamad. Dinamo goalkeeper Dominik Livaković made a rare misjudgment of a cross and missed the ball, allowing Mudrinski to score in an empty net.
But it was the hattrick hero, Gavranović, who sealed all three points for Dinamo in the 66th minute. Dinamo remains the only undefeated side in the HNL, recording six wins and a draw.
Saturday also saw a tight win for Rijeka at Rujevica against Varaždin. Varaždin opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Jorge Obregon found the back of the net for his first goal of the season. However, it was cancelled out by his teammate, Marko Stolnik who inadvertently put the ball in his own net.
Rijeka capitalized on the momentum and Sandro Kulenović scored Rijeka’s second goal in the 36th minute. Rijeka defended the lead for the remainder of the 90 and were able to secure the victory. Rijeka currently sit in fourth place while Varaždin are in eighth.
It was heat brake for Hajduk on Sunday as they dropped all three points to fellow Dalminac, HNK Šibenik. It was the first time the two clubs met in league action since November 2011. The two sides met twice since then in Croatian Cup ties in 2017 and again in 2018. Hajduk won both matches and were expected to win again this past Sunday, but Šibenik held firm after scoring a goal in the 34th minute.
He may have not known it then, but Emir Sahiti was to become the hero of the match as his tally was the only one to be had in the match. Sahiti’s goal was his first of the season and only seventh goal of Šibenik’s season.
The match scheduled between NK Osijek and NK Lokomotiva has been postponed due to coronavirus cases within the Lokomotiva camp.
Any Croatian would be a bigger Croat than a Croat from Rijeka even slavonac
Ah, love the armchair Hrvati on here who can decide who is the biggest Hrvat lol
Me! No, me!
Your are a disgrace slavonac
As usual you muddle up the facts by never answering a clear question
And yes it kinda matter if you have Serb blood in you and then proceed to judge who’s a Croat or not
hahaha…and that matters?
my parents were both far better Croatians than you could ever be…and your parents definitely failed you man, you are the “divider”…thinking you have a clue what it means to be a Hrvat. the lack of culture and education you display is obvious your parents raised a very sick person that needs mental health assistance!
So slavonac
Which one of your parents is half Serb
Your mother or father
every comment you make prove how demented you are. I’m sure your parents are embarassed by you…take some medications bro, hating yourself and trying to always prove you’re a somebody (even though you’re quite irrelevant) must become exhausting for you. non stop attacking people, non stop trying to be the biggest hrvat, non stop criticizing others…you’re just an unhappy person thats most likely very lonely!
Slavonac you sound like a failed footballer like most Canadians
Why don’t you take out your frustrations by fucking your non Croatian wife up the arse
@ARMADA87
Well yea, it’s been 15 years since they won, lol.
But a quick turnaround would take money and competent management.
Hajduk haven’t been good AT ALL in finding good foreign players or some nice good value buys (domestically or foreign), so I wouldn’t trust them even if they had the money to invest in player transfers and salary.
They’re better off just doubling down on their youth, and try to hold on to them a couple of years longer. They always have talent in the ranks.
Look how good Domagoj Bradaric and Toma Basic are in France. Bradaric is still 20, lol. Hajduk sold him at 18. Same age as when they sold Palaversa too.
I can understand why Hajduk would sell these guys…but they need to come up with a strategy with what they’re going to do with the money if they are selling of their biggest 18 year-old talents.
Personally, I think they should either take some risk and hold onto some of these young guys to see how they develop (and they will be a more competitive team for HNL and Europa if they had guys like Bradaric, Basic, Palaversa, etc for a couple of years longer).
If they want to cash out and take the quick 15-18 million for these three players while they are young…then fine. But you’d better have a plan.
But what they are doing is mindless.
The 6 million they made off of Bradaric was probably burned completely on paying the salaries of some of these misfit foreign players like Diamantakos and Gyurcso, lol.
These guys are paid more than any of your young Croatian players, and they will have zero residual transfer value when.
Not sure if Hajduk paid for some of these transfers (hopefully not), but I wouldn’t even want them for free.
Terrible use of funds.
Armada…this is why I posted the first comment that some idiots refuse to acknowledge!
Hajduk MUST improve…and the first thing their fans start saying after they lose to Sibenik is this:
“23h
Dinamo have a monopoly on the league and every player in the country outside of Hajduk. They send guys to RI n Lokomotiva to sharpen their teeth. They can make mistakes and they go unnoticed. The HNS is another corrupt institution in the country, and they are in bed w dinamo.”
This is relevant man and will remain relevant until they take a hard look at themselves.
Apparently Hajduk voted on a new president and he refused the position…how screwed can a club be and yet, blame the HNS and Dinamo for their downfalls?!
“Novi šok! Hajduk izabrao predsjednika, on odustao!”
@ Maminjo
I agree with you in terms of Hajduk needing to play the young, Croat born kids. But the culture has changed there and I feel like Hajduk could really use a 1st, 2nd finish or have a good showing in Europe so that it energizes the club and fanbase. A cloud has been hanging over the club for a longggggggggg time now. Almost feel like the clubs needs SOMETHING to get excited about…
Slavonac again choosing who’s a Croat or not
Didn’t Hajduk lose to Šibenik the last time Šibenik was in the first division several years ago?
I might be getting my bottom dwelling teams mixed up.
It’s okay if Hajduk loses games…so long as they lose them with young Croatian kids and not some rejects from foreign leagues who they pay more in salary than their own young Hajduci.
They still have a few of these junk players hanging around, but not as many as last season, so it’s an improvement.
If they truly don’t have the money, then they should go full developmental with a 100% Croatian first team and youth team (similar to Atlétic Bilbao).
Not sure why they’re wasting money on foreign bums who can’t even get Hajduk into Europa. Whether Hajduk finishes 2nd or 5th in HNL, it doesn’t matter. Just go with a full Cro lineup and develop some gems.
Hajduk Losing to Sibenik has to the biggest and most disappointing loss in the past 15 years for Hajduk. You do not lose to Sibenik EVER!! That’d be like Ohio State losing to a team like San Jose State in College Football It just doesn’t and shouldn’t happen.. SRAMOTA!! but still always ‘I KAD GUBE I KAD TUKU UVIJEK VJERNI SVOM HAJDUKU’ not sure how much longer we can go like this though.
Tovari are the greatest Hrvati in the history of our ethnic group.
hahaha…Anonymous isn’t a Hrvat…he’s just a sad troll who tries hard to prove he’s Croatian…I love those wannabe’s trying soo hard to be the biggest and baddest hrvati…nobody respects you idiots, you give all Croatians a bad name!
Actually SlavonAc doesn’t divide anyone. He brings up a valid point. If anyone divides us it is fans from Split who put up this during the last World Cup “ sve izgubili dabogoa”
Disgraceful
Now that is Serb blood. Explains a connection with Tito and the Partizani and Hajduk.
All eyes on Kovačić today.
Our resident over/under rated nogometaš.
Funny how Chelsea lose balance when he doesn’t play?
Head to head with Rakitić, another maligned central midfielder who also could not live up to Luka Modrić expectations.
I see farca and Messi are thriving once they got rid of him .. NOT!!
He operates like a chetnik
Yes someone said earlier that he’s quarter Serbian hahaha
Shut the fuck up slavonac you fuckhead
Is it true that you Chetnik blood running through you
I won five bucks guessing Slavonic would be the first one to post shit about Hajduk.
He’s the Donald Trump of this site – always dividing Croatians.
Ha ha good one Maminjo
Go Sucic what a champion
Who knows.
At this point, Marko Pjaca should probably just change his name to Marco Piazza.
Might get him some more playing time.
No Pjaca today. Injured or COVID? I don’t really care because he’s finished for us regardless.
Lol Maminjo
It’s all good.
Sucic responded to the AC Milan transfer rumor news tweet with a “Samo Naprijed!”
If he tweeted something like “Das ist gut!” then I would be worried.
The article refers to him as Croatian. Let’s hope that sticks.
The article refers to his as Croatian. Let’s hope that sticks.
Yes we talked about him
But some say he could choose Austria
I say we trade halilovic and Gregory sertic for him;)

Not HNL, but looks like a can’t miss.
I’d watch out for Mario Cuze. He’s 21 now and just loaned back to Dinamo from Lokomotiva. Had a really hot start at Istra few seasons ago but cooled off. Played a handful of matches for Dinamo and then Lokosi but is now back at Dinamo. Not sure where he’s going to fit in right now as Dinamo have their positions well covered, but this is his third stint at Dinamo, so they obviously see something in the kid.
Marko Bulat and Silvio Anocic from Sibenik
Only guy I care about in the HNL right now is Josko Gvardiol.
I want that dude to start every game and continue to develop.
Thank God we didn’t sell him to Leeds. Hopefully, he stays another year at Dinamo instead of going to Leipzig too soon…but they’re a pretty solid development club, so I’m not too worried if he can get a full year in at Dinamo playing 30+ games.
Dinamo also has Majer who is playing very well. He will get sold this year, but we’re already stacked as his position with Vlasic there.
Hajduk has a quite a few young defenders playing a lot of games (which is good), and Gorica has a striker (Lovric) who always seems to score goals. Kulenovic is off to a decent start at Rijeka.
I dunno. It’s too early to judge since there are so many 18-20 year olds on each team and those years are the wildest in terms of developmental jumps. A guy could suck one year, then explode the next lol.
Who are this years can’t miss HNL prospects if there are any?
Any random guy that could surprise from one of the lower ranked teams
so Hajduk played yesterday and lost. their fans are once again behaving abusive and once again, blaming the HNS. I saw this on twitter and thought WTH man:
