Reports from Europe are now saying that the ‘Mandžukić to Werder Bremen’ deal is off. Dinamo Zagreb executive manager, Zdravko Mamić, is asking Bremen to shell out 10 million Euros for the 23 year-old striker when they have never in their history paid over 8.5 million Euro for a single player. Stay tuned for anymore updates.

Early reports from Croatia are stating that 23 year-old Dinamo Zagreb striker, Mario Mandžukić, will be moving to Germany to play for Werder Bremen at the end of the current season. Initial details claim that the transfer will be for 10 million Euros.
Bremen needs a striker as Diego will be moving to Juventus in the summer. Mandžukić has scored 21 goals in 49 appearances for Dinamo Zagreb since joining the club in 2007. The move should be completed days after Croatia’s match with Ukraine in Zagreb on June 6th.
Overall: A good move for both clubs. With the Prva Liga expanding to 16 teams next season; all stats and goals will be watered down. Let’s see what the kid can do in Germany.
I recommend he visits the Beck’s brewery the first chance he gets!
Vecernji List has confirmed that Manda denied an offer from Stoke City… Judging by Mario's performance on Saturday, he should be sold in the next week or so..
Re: Petar
Jajalo to Siena is fantastic news. Belupo never had 2million Euro to spend before as they might spread it around the division buying players. Would be good news for HNL if only it wasn’t 16 teams next season.
Yes Sharbini to Ajax would be a great move. I also think he’ll do well at Koln.
I hear Palermo want Kalinic. Lets hope like Mamic Hajduk doesn’t price him out of a move. Kalinic is only worth £3m-£4 tops as well. Hopefully that move will happen soon as it’ll end all the stuff regarding his national team status and give him a challenge.
Re: Alex
Yeah and Petric is a much better player than Mandza when Petric is on top form. Petric’s left foot shot is like an arrow – Mandza is a hard worker which in my opinion is his major asset rather than being majorly skillful or a good finish. I’m a dinamo fan and i think the guys only worth £4m. £6m tops and that’s if someone is generous to us. Mamic is standing in the way of his future. I also do not like this as Mamic only gives the coach 20% of the money to spend on new players. So if we get £4m he can give it all to the coach. I’d rather we don’t get the other £5m as its not going to go to the coach so it doesn’t matter if we get £9m for Mandzukic. £4m – £6m is fine in my opinion. We also don’t the guy to have a big transfer fee hanging round his neck. He needs to still progress and a big transfer fee is doing the guy no favours.
LOL well said Alex
he needs to get off that magic stuff
€10 million is almost £9 million!!! That’s more than Arsenal paid for Dudu…absolutely nowhere, on any planet, is Mandzukic worth 10 million- 21 goals in 49 apps playing for the dominant team in the HNL is nothing exceptional… For example, Petric had a similar goals-per-game average while at mediocre Dortmund in a superior league and he was sold for around €5 million to HSV. No, Mamic needs to stop smoking rock…
Re: dinamofan:)
Has the Croatian media contacted Bilic about this?
First time I hear Bilic toss his hat into the ring, who knows if his agent is telling the truth..
Re: Darijo
Let him go! This speculation is annoying. I think Hamburg, Wolfsburg and Sunderland also want him, but let him go i say as it’ll let him start his club coaching career. There is work to be done in reshaping the Croatia squad. Bilic don’t seem to have many ideas how to do it so might as well try some other guy. Has to be a foriegn coach. Co Adrianse, Louis Van Gaal will do fine. Am sure Dutch football is a easy transfer to Croatian.
Sorry i live in England. We still have the pound over here. How much is 10 million Euro. Mandza is only worth £4million – what’s Mamic talking about? I know what he is doing – he’s trying to get some of that money from Diego’s transfer. Its not a good idea. Mandza deserves to transfer for £4m-£6m only.
BBC reports that Bilic is keen on Celtic post (according to his agent):

As much as i want Mandza to stay this is a sensible move for him and imagine he must be sick of playing HNL by now. Werder are also a real club that gives people opportunities and does not sign a guy just to waste them so yeah good move i think. Also Mandza is not fully developed yet so a gradual step up to Germany is better than going to England, Spain or Italy.
I can’t see us selling lots of others. We do need a replacement. Me hopes Ivan Klasnic, but i can see Hertha or Hoffenheim taking him. Hopefully no HNL player being brought in to replace Mandza. Zec and Vrucina are not good enough or better than Sivonjic, Tadic or Slepicka. Zec will prob go abroad and Vrucina should go to Hajduk along with Bosnjak and Benko. We should try to get some guy like Klasnic or even am not fussed by us investing in a player like Smolorek or Marica. I think we have to basis of a decent team which better structured now than earlier in season so best if we try to buy proven players that can play well in European football. I think we’ve done with the unproven guys with possible potential like Suarez etc.
