Croatian-American UFC Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic is rumored to be defending his belt against Francis Ngannou in Boston at UFC 220 on January 20th. Miocic has already defended the heavyweight belt against Overeem and dos Santos after taking the belt from Werdum in May of 2016.
So who is Francis Ngannou?
He was a nobody. Until he did this to Overeem this past weekend.
UFC experts would have Ngannou as a slight (-130) favorite in this fight; should it become official.
“Iggy” the fake croat troll said: “Not too keen on the racist posts here”
What are you talking about exactly? Explain. What’s a “racist”?
Ngannou, is a level 3 boxer…but his punching power is crazy! He has zero head movement…stands flat footed. Stipe should do well unless he get caught.
Stipe is the man! Jab…move…Stipe has footwork like a light weight. Look at Alister and the position of his right hand when he got hit. Stipe needs to keep this beast on his back.
Bigfoot Silva beat the shit out of Overeem and nobody hyped up Bigfoot after that.
Lets go Stipe!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beat his ass.
Bold move my iggy putting a pic of both him and his wife on the internet

@Soul Champ, yeah Luka is so terrific, the guy can do everything. I think there’s a legit discussion about if he’s the best Hrvat ever, i still would prolly say Suker but – i must admit it’s getting very close. If he leads us to the promised lands (QF and beyond) of this world cup, i think maybe he takes the crown.
I hope the Croatian Crippler puts the smack down.
But I would be remiss if didn’t mention :
Luka Modrić – top 5 player in the world !
Not too keen on the racist posts here
This is definitely gonna be a hard fight, maybe the hardest for Stipe, if he comes through this tho chance for legendary status
anyway, on th eworld cup draw, who’s that dude who posted the relative money values of teams? I’d like to see that for our group, i think we had 350$ million or so and iceland was like 10% of that from memory?
Agreed DannyJ – the longer the fight goes the better for Miocic. Ngannou is similar but taller, heavier, heavier hands. Not sure about speed, I think Ngannou is faster. Haven’t seen enough of him. What worries me is Miocic’s defense/head movement. Guys with a strong chin often get careless, goad you into attacking or just plain don’t defend well a la Chris Leiben but that was his style. If Stipe can tighten up on his head movement/defense he should be ok if he wears him down. Miocic was a NCAA div 1 wrestler and Cleveland golden gloves boxer, he has more skills. Ngannou is looking to KO early. Either way I think it’s going to be a great fight. I still think Ngannou is going to come out guns blazing and will underestimate Stipe as have many heavyweights that have fought him thus far.

This dude looks scary but stipe just like always gonna work hard and I feel will come through this as still the champ
Overeem looks smaller and smaller since he can’t dope and is aging and can’t produce testosterone naturally any more
Basically saying this ain’t the overeem of old
Stipe will have a plan. He will prob where him down. Fans will hate it but the longer it goes prob better chance he has
Full respect for him win or loss
The notion of a “glass jaw” or “iron chin” is ridiculous. Overeem got knocked out b/c he left his chin up, got hit flush on it which rattled his spine – this is how most knock outs happen. Now you can’t tuck your chin into your chest for an entire fight just as you can’t keep your fists clenched tight for an entire fight b/c you’ll stress yourself out & get exhausted but you need to brace for/see punches when you can’t avoid them or it would take a severe strike or I guess something precise on a vulnerable part of the skull to knock you out.
@Ante Kvartuck, what is “racism” exactly?
Funny, you’ve NEVER had that reaction after the countless times your own race or certain White ethic groups have been insulted in much worse fashion on this site. How do you explain this other than you’re a two faced anti-white TRAITOR?
No need for the racism Elvis
@ TRUTH THATS PROBABLY THE REALIST THING YOUVE EVER SAID
Ground and pound the ape.
Would have preferred Ngannou fight JDS first. That would have been a test, and helpful for Stipe to come up with a good strategy.
Ngannou is a beast, but his strong punches are a result of a long wind-up. Stipe’s sneaky power doesn’t require as much torque.
Strategy: I’d say Stipe needs to dance around a bit in first round.
Take him down in 2nd round, which will not be easy.
Gas his sheer muscle mass, and practice avoiding this guy’s huge swings (his left & right are deadly.)
I’d be surprised if Ngannou were only a -130 favorite, if u r a betting man, wait for more value for Stipe.
Everyone (non-croats) has already annointed Ngannou as the next Heavyweight champion, but I would never count Stipe out.
This video is an example of why holding a ufc heavy weight title is so much luck and why no one can do it. These dinosaurs swing at each other and probability has it that even if you’re a great fighter, sometimes you’re just going to get hit with one of these and get knocked out. Makes these fights like flipping coins
Stipe is the better wrestler, boxer, is hard to knock out, and can somehow land incredibly accurate and powerful punches out of nowhere…even when he is backpedaling (like he did with Werdum).
Ngannou is fast, athletic and has 20lbs on Stipe, so it’s unlikely that he will be taken to the ground (which would be an ideal position for Stipe). Ngannou’s reach is about 4 inches longer than Stipe’s too, so he will likely use it to keep the distance. His stamina and chin haven’t really been tested (he never fought beyond round 2), so Stipe will probably try to fight him very close and wear him out.
The scariest thing about Francic Ngannou is that he holds the world record for punching power, and Stipe is known to leave himself open to punches.
Stipe has an iron chin, but if one of Ngannou’s punches connects well, Stipe can get knocked out.
This is the only way Stipe loses, but it’s a very real possibility.
Otherwise, Stipe will win by decision…or by TKO stoppage if Ngannou is somehow taken down or it turns out he happens to have a glass chin.
