Mateo Kovačić and Chelsea did what they were supposed to do – beat Porto 2-0. Now both Chelsea and Real Madrid are 90 minutes away from meeting in the CL semifinals. If it lines up the way it is supposed to, that means we are guaranteed to have a Croatian international play in the Final for a 9th straight year – 9 YEARS!
As we all know, a Croatian has lifted then Champions League trophy eight straight years. Simply amazing! Kovačić had a quiet yet successful match vs. Porto in the first leg. Kova was given a 7/10 grade as “The Croatian was poor against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday but was much better in Seville. There is still a lack of awareness to Kovačić’s game without the ball, but there’s no denying his talent with it. It was his pass, although admittedly it was initially intercepted that led to Chilwell’s late goal.”

Chelsea had a small setback in the Premiership on the weekend – losing 5-2 to relegation candidates West Brom – but they can quickly make amends for that Wednesday night when they take on Porto in the CL quarters. Porto pipped Juventus in the previous round and are considered the weakest team left in the draw.
Chelsea spent hundreds of millions of dollars on new players in the summer. Now it’s time for Kovačić and his new friends to shine once again after defeating Atletico Madrid in CL a few weeks back.
Chelsea are favorites to go through and meet Real Madrid in the semifinal round.
I agree
That small mind engrained from generations of oppression can manifest even tho talent is there
Brekalo not wearing the rainbow for sure is a big piece of that stand up for your teammates and country
I think the closest guy would be Vrsaljko
@Dannyj
Vlasic and Brekalo have the boss mentality.
They’re just too young right now, and obviously have to take a back seat to all the vets on the team.
.
I liked seeing Bradaric just stand their without emotion after he scored that goal against the England U21 team. Then during the final whistle celebrations…when that English punk was trying to fight, he just kept waving bye bye right to his face. Didn’t lose his cool (and possibly get a suspension), but also didn’t take any shit from that punk. It was the perfect response.
.
A little bit of cockiness can be a good thing (Perisic and Mandzo have this)… and I see it in a few of our young guys.
I have always DESPISED the fear that some Croats play with. That we’re a small country and we should simply be happy even being at tournaments. That mentality leads to actual losses.
People joked about how Rakitic almost didn’t want to score against Spain in Euro 2012, lol.
It almost felt like that, haha.
.
Guys like Perisic always went hard against all the top teams. Against Brazil in Brazil, he was going for blood…and was furious when he wasn’t getting the calls or when his goal was called back. He knew we should have WON that game (when every Croat watching would have dreamt for a draw).
.
Not all guys are like this (i.e. Kovacic)…so yea, I wouldn’t expect a lot of our guys to have this trait. But we do have them, even in the youth ranks.
I think we all are hoping for Kova to just get this new boss mentality but he never will
Let’s just hope we can utilize him properly and hope he can be a good supporting player
But where does the next field boss come in?
Broz is say no
I don’t really see any of our current forwards except maybe Perisic but he is getting older
Hopefully one of these kids really grab the reigns in next few years
Hahahaha…that made me chuckle
@maminjo😂
