KILLER IS COMING BACK TO THE REEBOKIvan Klasnić will be returning to the Bolton Wanderers for the 2010-11 Premiership season as a permanent member of the club. After a one year loan spell with Bolton last season where Killer scored eight goals in 27 appearances, he inked a deal on Tuesday that will keep him at the Reebok for another two years.
The 30 yer-old Klasnić impressed last season in the very physically demanding English Premier League. His body has held up, especially after the kidney transplants he endured in 2007.
WAS THIS THE RIGHT MOVE FOR KLASNIĆ OR SHOULD HE HAVE MOVED ELSEWHERE?
@ Dinamofan:
Guerrero is not leaving Hamburg, at least for now. He had a lot of disciplinary issues at the end of the previous season, but the hanseatic team needs him. They only have Petric, van Nistelroij and Guerrero as serious attackers. I think a club that could need him would be Stuttgart or Gladbach. Both teams need a decent striker urgently.
..from the Rangers.
Rapid Vienna turned down a 4.2 million euro offer for Jelavic.
Jelavic not going to Rangers now. Maximum they could offer is 3.5m pounds. That's a feeble bid. Rapid told them to go home. Benni McCarthy or Benjani are the players for Rangers. Cheapo signings.
I think Jelavic could still get this move to the Premier League. Jelavic would be really perfect for Fulham, West Ham or Newcastle. All of them can afford £4m-5m pounds. i've also not seen Dortmunds roster lately but that could be realistic. If Guerrero leaves Hamburg, maybe Hamburg is realistic too. I just think 4m pounds for Jelavic is such a bargain.
@ dinamofan
Bilic over Mandzukic anyyyy day. Mandzukic has never really impressed me.
It's like the USA keeping Sasha Kljestan on their roster.
Hajdukovci, svaka vam cast. Cestitam na zasluzenoj pobjedi! Too bad we can't play eachother since we're part of the same association. Let's hope we both luck out on our draws!
No teams from Moldova, please. (sarcasm)
Yes, looking at the stats you would think Klasnic and Bilic should be there for every NT game. I hope Klasnic negotiated with Coyle to start every game, as he deserves. Maybe his lack of club playing time has kept him from being one of the first picks for the NT strikers.
Maybe Bilic is heavily investing in the younger strikers in order to develop the future attacking line..with Jelavic and Mandzukic getting some exposure.
Slaven when you list it like that it makes Slaven Bilic looks insane. Mandzo doesn't belong in squad until he starts to score in Germany. I'm not gonna show favoritism here. You say Kalinic has to prove himself. well so should Mandzukic.
Daniel Cesarec scored 2 goals for Aris Salonika today. So this guy moved up to a bigger club this summer and is still scoring so – does this qualify for selection or is the door shut in his face.
See what i mean. Why is Bilic so one dimensional on his selections.
Strikers in order of goals to caps:
Bilic-3 goals in 4 caps
Dudu-18 goals in 29 games
Klasnic-12 goals in 38 caps
Petric-11 goals in 35 caps
Jelavic-1 goal in 5 caps
Olic-13 goals in 69 caps
Madzukic-1 goal in 13 caps
@dinamofan:) don't you think he was playing them to get them noticed for transfers? Especially Mandzukic
Klasnic over Bilic!100%
sure you can. Until he actually plays and produces, you can forgot about him. He needs to makes us NOT forget about him.
Can't forget about the youngster Kalinic either 😉
Klasnic has a problem cos Bilic and Jelavic are related. Jelavic will receive favoritism.
Slaven Bilic is going to be stupid again and ignore Mate Bilic and Klasnic for Jelavic and Mandzukic.
Just watch! Jelavic can stay in for the moment, but bring Mandzo out. Mate was better than Mandzo in the chances given. Its an obvious decision.
BUT Eduardo, Olic and Petric will not always stay fit so the door will be open to Klasnic at some stage.
I love this news! Good for you Klas! He seems to really enjoy himself in Bolton! Get back to form quick! The NT needs you!
Will Pletikosa even be the no. 2 at Tottenham?
As always, the question remains if he can play for the national team and deal with the travel to and from games.
Good luck Killer, I wish you continued success in the EPL!
I think it was a good move for Klasnic. He still has something in the tank and proved last year in varying playing time that he can still finish with the best of them. He might be successful at Bolton but will still have a hard time cracking the NT at this point because of competition from youngsters. He could still be called upon for the next couple of years trough Euros but next WC, not sure.
At 30 and given the challenges he was facing not long ago, I personally think he's in a good spot. I for one am impressed he held up physically and hope he can pull off another fine season.
