Tottenham Hotspur announced today that they will be coming back to the States for a two-game American tour to play MLS champions Los Angeles Galaxy at The Home Depot Center (July 24th) and New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena (July 31st). But before you go out and start buying tickets for either of these two friendlies, just know that Luka Modrić and/or Niko Kranjčar may not even be with Spurs at this time.
Pending on Spurs making Champions League next season, they may or may not have a fire sale in the offseason. Without Europe’s elite competition to play in, Spurs can lose the likes of Luka Modrić, Niko Kranjčar, Gareth Bale and Manchester City loanee Emmanuel Adebayor. If that’s not enough reason to keep the Croatian midfielders away, remember that Croatia’s last Euro 2012 group stage game versus Spain lies on June 18th. Should Croatia make the quarterfinals, that game would be played on June 23/24. Immediately after the Euro 2012 tournament finishes for Croatia, all players take a 3-4 vacation away from soccer to get some much needed R&R.
I don’t see Modrić and Kranjčar rushing back from vacation to play a friendly 6,000 miles away. The New York game seems a bit more realistic if the two do make the trip across the Atlantic, but still unlikely. Spurs did not have their English players on the 2010 American tour following the World Cup, when Tottenham played the San Jose Earthquakes and New York Red Bulls at their respected home stadiums in late July.
Chances Modrić/Kranjčar travel to the U.S.A this summer: 10%.

haha, that was a great weekend Ante B. true dat homie
It will be nothing compared to San Jose last time. That was a riot…well almost a near riot after the police came into our section. We were all ready to go to jail or in a paddy wagon.
well you never know Allen, I’m just stating what Spurs did back in 2010. I would assume they won’t come (if they stay at Spurs) but its not a guarantee. All will be known in June/July, tickets won’t be sold out, at least it wasn’t here in Red Bull Arena and I bought the tix about 2 weeks before the match
Thank you Jersey Cro. I’m not the only one that knows the truth. All of you are narrow minded if you think they’re coming. That includes you Rotten Child
How sure are you that Mirosevic is Croatian? I’ve never met a Croatian named Milovan, not saying he can’t be because of this, but I have my doubts. Only one way to find out, Denis i Ante, work your magic!
The last time Spurs came to the US (I went to their match in NJ), none of their World Cup players made the trip. Funnily enough they played Sporting Lisbon and Tonel was playing for Lisbon (now at Dinamo) 😀
If we get word that both players are coming I would be ashamed if we didn’t get a large group of checkers in the stands. I’m saying 70% chance they come out to LA.
No thanks brother man. The only croatian soccer player Ill be following this year in MLS is Milovan Mirosevic from the Columbus Crew. He hails from the country of Chile. I koz na, mozda je pravi Lican!
