In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil of course. He has been there for the past 6 weeks rehabing his left leg. Initial reports had Eduardo out until January. A quick and healthy rehabilitation now promises a possible end of July return.
So if you’re wondering why ‘Dudu’ isn’t on the Croatian bench cheering on his teammates at Euro 2008, this is why. His club team, Arsenal, open up their English Premiership season on August 16th and Croatia starts their World Cup qualifying campaign versus Kazahkstan in Zagreb on September 6th. If Eduardo plays in either of these games, it would be considered one of the greatest returns in soccer history.
This image is very immpressive, you are good photographer
It was funny reading your comments:) I love reading comments from people who fled their countries for money or because of war and never return to help rebuild or develop it.
These people then criticise others for going to 'their' countries and doing something positive.
You have to ask what most of you diasporic Croats have ever done for Hrvatska. Have you ever paid taxes here? Performed a service for your "countrypeople"?
You are all cowards and scum, we are better off without you here.
Vladi
I recently saw arsenal 2007-2008 season review, I think Eduardo did a great job at the begining of the season and because of that Arsenal was ahead in the table but after his injury the team got a little shake, i hope he will return to his previous form, I am praying for it all the best Eduardo “God Bless You”
Consolidation?
Germany consolidation?
Poland would be consolidaton!
And podolski played alot more than 2, I said two GREAT ones…Its hard, but Hey Podolski tried, I understand.
Its kind of like Bilos with Cro/Arg, he was holding off Cro to see what was going to happen with Arg, Podolski did the same.
WOOOO JOZE WOOOOOO OOOOOO
“what do you think he is going to do!”
I think he would accept that he has only played 2 bundesliga games and get more games, score some goals, prove the coach wrong and play for his country not a consolation one.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO =p
um
Okay Denis and Joze
Podolski WANTED and bugged the media and former Poland coach to call him up!
The coach shrugged to the media and said, I am not going to waste my time with a guy that had two good Bundesliga games, then he got the chance to play for Germany what do you think he is going to do!
Klose is completely different, Kuranyi is not even worth mentioning.
But I don’t know, I don’t see any wrong in Podolski’s case, the guy tried and tried playing for poland, besides when he scored two on them, he was about to cry.
I honestly felt for the little polish man.
like I said i am 50/50 in this whole situation.
ye you can use it
I already used it in a video i made of eduardo
Poland must be so annoyed with Germany…Poland would be a massive threat if they had Klose and Podolski
‘Brazilian born, Croatian engineered’
Joze, this is brilliant. If I have permission from you, I would like to steal this from you. However, I would never use this in my posts.
Argentina,
Germany has a Polish attack. Besides England, Poland is #2 on German hit list. This is almost like Tevez and Messi starting for Brazil. Get my drift….
During the world cup in Germany, every German accepted and loved Podolski and Klose, however, every German said, ˝geez, we have a Polish attack.˝
Yes Simunic and Kovac brothers etc are born in other countries but there is one thing in common….they are full blooded Croats.
No matter what, Eduardo will always be Brazilian, he was born there, raised there and that is who he is. But his talent is a product of Croatia. Dinamo Zagreb made him a superstar. He married a Croat and has Croatian kids. Therefore I have no reason to think he cant play for Croatia…
but in my oppinion, to say that he is 100% Croatian and just as Croatian as the rest of us is wrong.
‘Brazilian born, Croatian engineered’
German team is a disgrace?
HOW SO!?!?!?
Because of Gomes? Gomes was born there, I mean I understand the whole Podolski and Klose deal but other than that I don’t see any other reason to call them a disgrace.
Forgot Kuranyi and Odonkor, Kuranyi is just plain ridiculous, he is panamenian and Brazilian, Odonkor was at least born there.
I don’t know, I only see 3 players non-germans, now FRANCE, different story, they have 4 actual french players, Ribery, Coupet, toulalan and Sagnol, that is just a disgrace, England will be like that soon enough too because they are bringing everyone from south america or spain.
I agree with Ante and Denis, Im kind of half and half on this one, I wouldn’t want someone not argentinean by birth or family to play on Argentina, except if it is Torres ;].
Yes, I would accept these Jamaican twins as Croatian because they have Croatian blood and they were born in Croatia.
Hopefully, others will tune in on this.
I will tell you one thing, if Croatia loses to Turkey, everyone will be saying, ˝if we had Eduardo, Croatia would be EURO champion. ˝ However, for those of you that remember, after WC 1998 everyone said, ˝if we had Alen Bokšič Croatia would be world champions˝
Only a select few legends are irreplaceable.
yes, this is as good of a debatable topic as we have had on CroatianSoccerReport. but look at the world we live in, its a world of diversity and travel. I could understand your point for eduardo because he imigrated to Croatia, but what if he was born there. in my little village in Croatia, there are two Jamaican twins….look as jamaican as u get what speak perfect croatian and were born there….while their dad was working on a cruise ship…he knocked up a jamaican chick and then moved her to croatia before she had birth…..what do u consider these kids,,,would u accept them as ‘full’ croatian kids????
˝anonymous˝ I agree with you 100%.
In Zagreb, 90% of the people love Eduardo and gave up on the EURO after he went out.
I am sure that in Dalmatia, most people are for Eduardo, but would rather play without him.
Next time, please sign in with a name so we know who you are.
Stay with us, your comments are golden.
if petric steps it up..he can be just as good as eduardo… i too would love to see a croatian team. Eduardo is a great player, i love that he chooses hrvatska over everyone else but hes not croatian. Everyone..and i mean EVERY-ONE of my american friends says that Croatia was good only bc of eduardo…. so i want hrvatska to show that they do have talent and dont need eduardo…anyone else agree? i mean look at them now..they beat germany =p
In about 50 years or so, the only true Croatian people will be from the villages in Croatia. The Croatian national team will be composed of players born and living abroad.
In Germany, you have to be second or third generation German to be considered German.
Eduardo in everyones eyes is Brazilian. It doesnt matter if he is white, black, yellow or green, he is Brazilian. He loves Croatia, has a Croatian wife and child. He deserves to play for Croatia and I wish him the best.
However, I would rather play without him, win or lose. Look at Germany and France. Their national team is a disgrace.
Yes, lets get a debate going. Great controversial topic.
please, please, please don’t call our squad 100% croatian now that eduardo isn’t playing…yes his skin might be a bit darker….but he moved there when he was 15….he speaks better croatian than both of us….and he loves croatia….simunic-born in australia…both kovac brothers born in germany and would call germany home….should we continue the debate?…
As much as I love Eduardo; his style of play, skill, determination, and heart, his injury truly was ˝a blessing in disguise˝
Eduardo was our Kobe Bryant. Pass him the ball and miracles will happen. Now without Eduardo, Croatia still doesn´t have an answer for goal, however team chemistry has improved, and mentally we are stronger.
If Petric wakes up, we make the final. However, Olić, Klasnić, and an inexperienced Kalinić, we wont score more than once. Igor Budan is also finished for the tournament.
Eduardo, I love you you are legend, but Im happy that we are 100% Croatian.
ye everyone at school would tell me that we only beat england twice cos of eduardo and hes the only player keeping the team together. We’ve done so well in this tournament …imagine if he was playing aswell
time will tell joze…i personally have croatia winning this game 2-0. Let the Turks think their better…overconfidence doesnt win championships…i have to say tht we did come from the weakest group in euro….now the real tournament begins….do or die
On Javno this is what the muslims had to say:
We are much more powerful than Croatia. We play better and are more prepared, they cannot counter us, technically nor in running, nor in morale – said Nihat after the match against the Czechs
they are getting a little too confident…2/3 of their goals were czech defencive mistakes including cech dropping the ball.
They can hardly score
i love dudu and think he is an incredible finisher but he also makes croatia less of a team imo…when hes on the pitch we have a ‘heres the ball eduardo,go score’ mentality….without him our midfield has opened up and we are playing more team ball….a blessing in disguise?….still cant wait to see him come back
Yeh good to see Eddie back, cant wait to see him in the Arsenal Red and White.
it’s true Croatia are showing they can do it w/o their own Brazilian. I hope they do well and hope eddie makes it to the sideline when they do reach the finals.
So many people think that croatia was doing well because of their “brazilian”. Im happy and not happy that he is returning. Yes he helps us out alot but i want Hrvatska to show that they have talent…
