We already knew who Dinamo Zagreb was going to face in the Champions League second qualifying round; being given a dream draw against Luxembourg champions CS Fola Esch. But Croatia’s other three teams discovered their Europa League roads on Thursday.
Croatian Cup winners Hajduk Split will face Macedonian side FK Turnovo to open up their Europa League season. Turnovo finished third in domestic play last campaign and are expected to be underdogs against Hajduk. All Europa League matches will be played on July 18th and 25th.
NK Lokomotiva, whose maiden voyage in European play begins with these games, will challenge Belarussian club Dinamo Minsk. Dinamo finished third last year while Lokomotiva finished an astonishing second behind champions Dinamo Zagreb. It would be a huge success if the Lokosi could make it to the next qualifying round.
Finally, Rijeka, who finished third in the Prva Liga last season, will do battle with Welsh club Prestatyn Town, who finished fifth in their respective domestic league. Rijeka is expected to progress and will face Prestatyn Town in Wales on Jult 25th at Bastion Road, which only has a capacity of 1,000.
Who will make it to the next round? Surely, at least three out of four Croatian clubs.
Rebic is good, but compared to a healthy Boksic????? your on crack kid, a healthy Boksic is probably the most talented Croatian soccer player of all time
agreed……Mandza, based on the system Bayern used last year, was the perfect forward for them. I don’t think anyone is denying that. I think when discussing the best forwards/strikers in the world, nobody is going to have Manda in their top 10/15.
Matesic Method
You have some good points!
Back to the Mandzukic debate already !
He is great in:
– heading the ball.
– Leading the line.
– holding the ball for wings to fill.
– tracking back on defense.
– running all game.
– playing for the team !
– SCORING GOALS!
His contract is modest so you get a lot bang for your buck.
So he can’t dribble past defenders and shoot from 30 yards. That’s why you have attacking midfield and wingers.
Plus if he could do ALL that he would be a top 10 player on the planet!
I choose to celebrate our boys for who they are instead of who they are not. Another BS Hrvati pattern that leaves us depressed.
This is why Rebic is so intriguing, because he has the talent to be that goal scoring winger like Ronaldo.
This is why we struggle to create offense, we need attacking width that will allow Modric and crew to work the magic.
@ Horvat
Rebic has an attacking game that will flourish in many leagues.
I like him going to the Bundesliga where because of the frugal economics they will play him.
I’m not saying Bayern is not a great team. They are one of the best in the world. However, they could be even better with a better striker than Mandzo, who in my opinion is very good, but not great.
What you are saying does make sense, however, I think they would do even better with a guy like Ibrahimovic.
Bayern is Ok with Mandza……plus, world class strikers are above 30 million price tags in the transfer market, minimum…….Suarez is around 35 million right now and that wont be enough for Liverpool to sell him. Imagine if he wasn’t a headcase and what he would go for.
@ Horvat
Strong enough to win a Champions League….
Anyway, Bayern need a striker to stay in the Box and poach. That’s their system.
They don’t want some Dude picking the ball up 30-40 yards out, shooting and dribbling. Last time I checked you have Robben, Ribery, Goetz, Mueller, Thiago etc for that.
How much stronger would Bayern be if they had a world class striker?
agreed, he will score plenty of “Ivica Olic type of goals”…….and if you combine the length of distance of all the goals he will score this season it will be less than 30 yds.
Mario mandzukic just got some additional support with the signing of thiago alacantara from barca. Mandzukic is backed up by so many talented mids, that provide more service than a 5 star hotel.
I can see mario scoring 20 plus goals in league play.
Ivica try http://darquo.site90.net/ I watched the dinam hajduk super cup match off that site.
@ Colin
The next time you talk to your MAXtv guy,
Ask him if they can start streaming this in HD. Last season’s stream was a pretty grainy stream.
VELIKI HAJDUK
THE FIX IS IN
I found an interesting article about Savicevic talking about a match fixing attempt @ the Champions League final when he was @ Red Star….he also mentions Prosenecki.

Jocksniffing accident
Nepoznat, why do you say he’s staying Swedish. Did you read somewhere that he’s getting his first cap for Sweden?
On another note, Zlatan would be suchhhhh a shitty player to play with, but because of him, they won the ligue a title this year. The goal he scored in beckham s last game. Only he could do that. Not falcao, not cavanni, not lavezzi or Suarez; only ibrahimovic could do that. respect to a player that has that much quality
DULE SAVIC! DULE SAVIC! DULE SAVIC!
I don’t think rebic will end up like vukusic. Hajduk did a quick sale on him, like all their players. They put vukusic in a losing situation. If these brothers at split are as smart as I think they are, they’ll sell him for a decent penny to some b class league. So, rough guess, 6 million euros to a Austrian or Czech side. Positive scenario, Italian German or Russian team for 7 plus some additional percent for any second transfer. I say that amount because Mamic already offered 5 and they said piss off
Hrgota is done, staying Swedish
Rebic though I would bring I’m, try to get him 20 min replacing Perisic on left wing vs Lichtenstein
Matesic Method,
I hope Rebic doesn’t make a bad move like Vukusic did.
I would like to see him stay in Split for at least one more season or go to a stronger league (other than one of the big four) where he will play regularly and be able to score goals.

Iggy – stop picking your nose you weird looking schmuck, is it really necessary to pick your nose on photo as well,
your like a serb version of Earl Hickey
IGGY HICKEY !!!!
Iggy – brilliant pic!
@IvicA – I talked to my guy at MaxTV this week. When they offered us the streaming of games last season, it took them months to work out the rights to show them outside of Croatia. They worked with lawyers until December when they were allowed to broadcast them here, and they’re in the same situation again. They’re counting pennies, and want to be able to broadcast it cheap. He said hopefully it won’t take as long as last time, and will let me know when they near a deal. Will pass on the info when I get it as well.
@ ziva
how much is city of split and hajduk and drug dealers making of this event?
ud be surprised how good advice going to church is
i mean as a psychotherapy its second to none
but i tend to get attached.. sigh.. im not currently on drugs actually just for a few days now but that doesnt help so much tbh i think i will be on antidepressants for rest of my life if im honest
RE; Jelavic
Everton’s new coach is after new strikers and Jelavic is going to have to producing quickly.
Iggy you need to get your head out of your ass son.
Get off the drugs.
Forget about that girl.
Get some sunlight.
Turn off the computer for at least a week.
Go to church.
Rebic has shown an explosiveness I have not seen since Alen Boksic.
He scored against Uruguay who did not give up a goal against France in the U20 final!
There have been many bums getting call ups that have shown half of what we have seen with Rebic.
Rebic brings a powerful presence that can play off of Mandzukic’s industry and our creative mid-field.
I say he gets 20 mins against Lichenstein.
Olic can be our good luck super sub in Brazil.
Ultra festival happening at poljud right now, man a bunch of etards going crazy

Hvala Mate!

she’s pretty lovely hey ? Though it’s a 100% guarantee she’ll cheat on u, etc
Injured for a few weeks
Where’s my favourite Hrvat, Sammir?!
He wasn’t even on the bench today!
VECERAS JE NASA FESTA
1-5 HAJDUK IS IN FIRST PLACE
KIS!!!
KOUASSI!!!
PASALIC!!!
BENCUN!!!
TUDOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I must say, if nothing else, Igor Tudor is comical on the Hajduk sidelines. Hajduk scored a goal that was ruled to be offsides and the replay clearly showed it was the correct call, it wasnt even close. Tudor being Tudor gets a bit animated and gets thrown out. Plus, the Hajduk bench pulls a cheap move by throwing a ball on the field in an attempt to have the ref stop a Zadar counter.
@SteveDave…..Rebic and Hrgota have not done enough to warrant a call to the repka…but, we are weak at the position (depth), so it wouldnt surprise me.
I know Hrgota has not done anything to deserve a call by Stimac yet. However, I would consider calling him up in the near future Especially since we don’t have much depth with strikers anyway.
Over a year ago, he stated that he would play for whichever national team called him up first. Supposedly, he is a promising young player. If he developers into a star one day, Croatia would regret not calling him up before Sweden.
@SteveDave
MaxTV is the main sponsor for HNL, so it’s the only channel that broadcasts HNL games…so Nova TV won’t have it. Since MaxTV is a pay-for premium channel in Cro, then SaaN,tv won’t have it since it only streams the standard channels.
re: Rebić callup…
Yea, why not? It’s not like we have some crazy striker depth in our lineup. We have a solid one in Mandzukic, but after him there is a considerate dropoff.
Olic is still somewhat useful, but he’s 34 and we need to factor in his age and expected decline in ability for next year’s World Cup if we qualify.
Jelavic had a nightmare season last year, and it could very well continue this season too. Eduardo is still hanging by a thread and will still not crack Shaktar’s A team, Petric is done, and Kalinic never was (that guy is useless).
Looking at our younger players in that 20-22 year old range…
You’ve got Rebic, Vukusic, and Livaja. Vukusic and Livaja don’t score, while Rebic seems to be scoring some nice ones with his confidence sky high right now.
If I’m Stimac, I’d call him up at least in a reserve role. I’d even play him to see what we’ve got (he might surprise you). Better to experiment with friendlies than with real life qualifying games (ie. Sammir with Scotland, Radosevic with Belgium, etc).
@IvicA
Thanks for the update.
I wanted to register with a site in order to watch the HNL games this year and have absolutely no idea which way to go?
Is Nova TV a good option? What about SaaN TV?
Also……
Would you call Rebić up for our friendly with Liechtenstein in August?
Do you think Stimac will call Rebić up for our friendly with Liechtenstein in August?
Looks like MaxTV won’t be streaming HNL games for us outsiders anymore. I tried logging into my account and couldn’t see anything in the schedule. I sent them an email and they replied:
“nazalost, ove sezone nemamo potrebna prava za prikazivanje van teritorija Hrvatske. Ukoliko u medjuvremena dobijemo potreba prava, obavijestit cemo Vas.”
Too bad. Hajduk plays Rijeka next week and it would be nice to have a clean stream.
Forza Fiume!
Been to Poljud and enjoy the special “ambience” of the stadion. Someone should do a documentary on the colorful expressions of the Splicani.
Boze mi moj,can we somehow put together a crew and qualify for a Europa league playoff ?
5th place teams from Wales? 3 rd place teams from Macedonjia?
i hnave updated my display pic to reflect my gedneral feelings toe very cunt who comes into this site as “anon” and then abuses me or others..
it may take a while to show on your end lol
for the Hercegovci… Siroki Brijeg and Zrinjski look like they have a good shot of advancing to the next round
anybody going to the lyon-ny rb game on tuesday?
I dont count it on the same level as Dinamo Fartizan. It has to be post war 1995. Dinamo game was in ’97.
count*
@ Ante if you don’t cant the ratni trofej we won against zvezda then your right.
I would but how many of them do you think would take it as an insult? Not worth it because I’ll be wearing my Cro jersey (personalized, not jock sniffing, ahem). I bet you they might scream purgerske picke but I want to doubt it.
We already have our victory over a Serb club (5:0) Fartizan. Hajduk needs theirs against Zvezda to complete the circle. Zvezda is not Buducnost.
@Ante B.
I hope you’d wear your Dinamo colors. 🙂
That might be the one day you could get away with it!
@Ante – hahaha I’d love to see a pic of you na sjeveru hahaha
@ Ziva – true but i doubt anybody would be texting or blogging during that game….
@ anonymous – go fuck yourself
If Hajduk draws Zvezda and I’m still in Cro, I will be going to that game with Fisto. No questions asked. When Dinamo or Hajduk play against either Zvezda or Fartizan, I will be going for Hajduk. If that asshole asks me to go Sjever with the Torcida, then he can go f himself.
BTW……some background on Karlovic. Hope to see him healthy, dude has a baby girl
http://tennis.si.com/2013/07/12/daily-bagel-ivo-karlovic-illness/
@nije bitno………..It would be great if Poljud had wifi and an HD scoreboard. Just think about it………..we could all be at the game and comment about it at the same time on this site.
Reading some news on tennis and it looks like Karlovic is about to end up like Turina if he doesn’t give up sport. Anybody watching that match??
I was at Hajduk-Inter Milan last summer and Poljud was rockin’. Never been to a sporting event like it…
vs. Zvezda….holy sh**…I could only imagine how the stadium would be….let’s see what happens.
Atta boy Ziva!
Everytime I read “Jadan Hajduk” I smile.
Easily your best CSR nickname!
no wifi needed at that game ziva?
Oh, trust me, I am not getting my hopes up for anything with them. But, if they were to draw Zvezda in the third round 9assuming Zvezda makes it), I’m booking a last minute flight to Split for that game. Jadan or not, I’m not missing at Poljud.
@ Ziva,
Just saw that. Good news for them.
But when it comes to jadan Hajduk, I take it one half at a time. It’s just easier that way…
you missed the bigger news yesterday. Levski lost their tie yesterday which makes Hajduk a seeded team in the 3rd round. Assuming Hajduk can get by in the second round tie, there is a chance now Hajduk could play Zvezda.
fucking AWESOME !!!
easy, easy games WE WILL WIN EVERY ONE i 100 PER CENT GUARANTEE IT !!! U CAN TAKE THAT TO THE BANK ! Weeeeeeeeeeee YOSHAAAA
