The only two remaining Croatians in Champions League (Luka Modrić, Real Madrid and Mario Mandžukić, Bayern Munich) have been paired on opposite sides of the semifinal draw Friday, meaning the two can battle it out on May 25th in London, England for European glory at Wembley. First things first though- the semifinals.
Mandžukić and Bayern Munich will open up at home against Spanish champions-elect Barcelona on April 23rd before heading to Camp Nou eight days later. Modrić and Real Madrid take on last year’s German champions, Borussia Dortmund, in Germany on April 24th with the return leg in Madrid on April 30th.
These are happy times for Croatian soccer fans. Not only is the national team playing well, moving up to #4 in the current FIFA world rankings, but we very well may have an all-Croatian Champions League final on our hands.
