It appears 17 year-old Dinamo Zagreb ‘wunder kind’ Alen Halilović is finally on his way out of Zagreb. After months of speculation where he would play after his Dinamo Zagreb contract expired, we found out Thursday that Spanish champions FC Barcelona beat out Tottenham, Bayern Munich and Manchester City for the services of the kid.
On his official Twitter page Thursday, Halilović wrote: “Thanks Dinamo Zagreb for everything! My first club and biggest love! Now is time to move on to Barcelona.”
The transfer is rumored to be anywhere from €5 to 15 million, and although Halilović will be joining one of the biggest football clubs in the world after the World Cup, he is sure to play for Barcelona’s B side for a season or two before moving up to the big boys at Camp Nou.
Halilović Highlight Reel
@pašnjak
It doesn’t matter. Halilović may not become the next Messi, but even if he becomes half as good it means we have ourselves another solid player.
I don’t expect all of Kovačić, Halilović, Radošević, Rebić, Perica, Pašalić, Bašić, Roguljić, Jedvaj, Livaja, Vrsaljko, Murić, etc to pan out for us.
But if even a handful of these guys pan out, we’re in very good shape.
@petar radman – livaja , i never ever said that halilovic and bojan krkic played the same position. bojan krkic was the golden child at a very young age. spain wanted him to represent their country and serbia wanted him to represent their country. a huge demand for him, and nothing came from these expectasions . he is a non entity now. halilovic is now the next golden child, but how many of these child proteges actually do anything ?
Alen Halilovic has a “hala madrid” tattoo on the inside of his wrist awkward.

Anyhow, good luck to the kid on his move to Barcelona!
bravo Ziva, just tell them all, most of them can’t read or write, lol
Sorry, brother just cant. Being a proud diaspora hrvat (although unlike most of us, I can actually speak the language) it would be against the rules of the “za dom….spremni” lifestyle that I live everyday and advocate for so much.“
Ziva let’s be friends?!?! We share many of the same delusions of grandeur! I’d love to hang in the fortified basement! We can watch soccer, boast and bet against Cro! Talk politics! Maybe I’ll even try that za dom spremni thing….. What do you say my new found friend?
Thanks for continuing to post here Seronja, it’s always a good laugh reading your posts (at you, not with you btw).
and yet another weekend morning where I arise to additional Ziva bashing. Thanks again boys for proving me correct.
Ziva Seronja once again proving that he is licemjer broj 1.
@Ante zsd
Easy on the bloke, you try typing with a red ball straped to your mouth!
Sinko, the parody accounts are due to your arrogance not the bs about objectivity.Any majmun can make comments that will cause a reaction.I want to teach you to be accountable, clever and objective at the same time to be the best that you can be.Sadly this is looking like a pipe dream and not a reality. You need to be benched for your low form of late.It used to be the case that you could draw on a reasonable number of supporters to come on board for you. These are currently few and far between. You are a bit like Jelavic when he couldnt score in a brothel waving a fist full of $50s.Your form is terrible, too many holes ;-(
Ziva jebem ti mater!… How many times have I told you not to talk those neighbors! Get back into the fortified basement. Your so much better then them!
@ Pasnjak – You do know that comparing him to Bojan Krkic is one of the laziest comparisons one could make? Halilovic is a midfielder and Bojan was a forward. As Bojan move into the senior team they used him as a forward on the left side in a 4-3-3. His slight frame was what held him back as a forward. Alen should do well as long as they keep him as a midfielder.
And the parody accounts continue. Thanks boys.
Ante (ziva’s step sad) happy to share a transcontinental laugh with you Brate.
Hvala(Choke&little tear)
Ante (ziva’s step dad) I appreciate your amazing parental patience and trying to work with your step son. I would pin a gold metal on you Brate.
i hope he prospers and conquers , but keep in mind, he is a boy. a boy just like bojan krkic was for barcelona just a few years ago. bojan was the future for barcelona and now he is on his third team in 3 years and he is only 24 and a forgone conclussion. if he has an inner drive and proper perspective , he may be something with all the god given talent he obviously has.
@Ziva-Ohh sinko, when will your hypocritical statements end, when will you grow just a little.I need to hand you over to Soul Champ for a deeper examination me thinks!
-In one post just above, you lament that in Cro,the people are not satisfied with Kostelic winning a medal(silver) as they only want to see gold.So their shit stinks, becuase they are negative and non appreciative of his abilities and achievments.
-However,with your shit that doesnt stink, you have now labelled Halilovic as”BosandZERO”.The kid appears set for Barcelona, but you are not satisfied as you will say”he has done nothing”Ummm,he has been attracting interest for some type of reason me thinks. One thing my boy,you desrve a GOLD medal for hypocrasy!!
awesome news. he will go far.
“WE’RE BLUE, WE’RE WHITE, WE’RE FUCKIN DYNAMITE! VANCOUVERRRR, VANCOUVERRRRRRRRR!!!”
@Mb13 – Yeah, Morales had some playing time at Malaga and scored a few with the little playing time he got, but spent a lot of time on the bench. Morales will be replacing Diago Kobayashi, so it will be an upgrade for Vancouver.
Peter Cech needs to lose that rugby scrum cap.
Yes, he received a fractured skull from someone accidentally kicking him in the head during a game, but I don’t see how a scrum cap (which is made to protect your ears) will help prevent a freak injury like that.
Typical Czech. lol.
^ ^
Nice!
Looking forward to his development.
Had no idea Chelsea owned Courtois’ rights. You think they’ll ever actually use Courtois? Cech’s only like 31 even though it feels like he’s been around for ages, and as any American soccer fan knows, goalies can play forever!
@ Poglavnik – Pasalic will be loaned out in Holland and will have the his choice at one of the Chelsea feeder clubs in the Eridivise. Chelsea are notorious for this. They loan out more players than any other club in the world. More often then not guys then loan out hardly ever play for Chelsea. A lot are either sold on afterwards or they are used as pawns along with a cash payment to land a player that they really want. Matic was included as a make weight along with cash to secure David Luiz. They later on bought Matic back. This summer you will most likely see Courtois as well as cash be sent to Atletico for Diego Costa.
I am leading the Pasalic bandwagon. The kid is in the form of his life and looks to have some of the ingredients to be a dynamic midfielder.
Ante Rukavina, #55, The Linebacker!
the best player comparison?
Ante Rukavina at one point being called the ‘Croatian Henry’
can’t believe he’s still only 27 and with Dinamo still hahaha
^ ^
In regards to Pasalic.
So Chelsea have signed him and he will most likely be loaned from Chelsea after this summer?
Mario Pasalic will be playing for the senior team well ahead of the Euros in France. Next year he will make an even bigger breakthrough when he is loaned out.
Bravo Alen. Dinamo putting out another gem.
sorry to change the subject from Barcelona’s next Messi to the lowly MLS.
Reports have Pedro Morales (former Dinamo player currently at Malaga) coming to Vancouver.
Anybody remember this guy? Any good? What’s the scoop?
Robben, Fabregas, Modric, Messi, Iniesta, are all bold comparisons. If he becomes any where close to an international superstar we’ll all be happy.
Halilovic isn’t like Modric. He’s like robben. Exact style. Exact shot. If these people watched all of his games they would know
I just hope he stays focused and doesnt pay more attention to all the hype and media than to actually becoming the best
As would I……But, the Cro media and public always have unrealistic expectations. I think it was Kostelic who said it after he got Silver last week at the Olympics. In other countries they celebrate a medal, but in Cro they knock you down if its not gold.
^ ^
I’d be happier than a pig in shit if he became the Croatian Fabregas!
It’s nice to read something like that and having a Hrvat (in this case half Hvrat) called that, but it just leads to over-the-top expectations.
What if Halilovic turns into a player like Cesc Fabregas (i’m not saying their games are the same)? Will that be viewed as a disapointment by some?
@Ziva you are right on queue, check this from Marca.com
Here’s how the ‘Messi of the Balkans’ Plays:
http://www.marca.com/2014/02/28/en/football/barcelona/1393589623.html
Our former players need to stay away from any comparison to Messi. I know he is trying to say the way he plays is closer to Messi than Modric, which is true. But, any time someone invokes the name Messi into the conversation, it just sets up the little bosandzero for failure or expectations that will never be matched. Because next thing you know is the comparison to Messi will begin since he is going to Barca.
Can Hrgota speak the language? That is my first question.
Halilovic is more like Messi or Iniesta not Modric, according to Robert Jarni:
http://www.vecernji.hr/nogomet/halilovic-vise-podsjeca-na-messija-nego-modrica-924067
Article on Adrian Vranic:
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/sport/football/the-next-mark-viduka-may-be-lost-to-socceroos/story-fn63e0vj-1226841369250
@Soul Champ I like your lineup although it is a bit heavy on attacking prowess with that MF
Do any of us really think Hrgota will switch to Croatia? For some reason I get the feeling he will stay a Swede
congratulations Alen and best of luck! I hope to see you in Brasil with the rest of the Vatreni where you belong
I’m still not convinced this Bosandjero is going to Spain until I see him at the podium with a Barca kit…
soul champ.
Solid line up for the next euros.
The God of Haliliovic ! !
Barca will now make him quicker physically and mentally. He will learn to play the game at the highest level.
He is going to Brazil because he has a skill set that we desperately need on the attacking wing.
He can play 10-20 minutes and be a positive.
I have worked with elite teenage NBA prospects. At this age 2-3 months of development can shift the trajectory of your career.
Mandžukić
Rebić – Kovačić – Halilovic
Modrić – Rakitić
Strinic – Lovren – Ćorluka – Vrsaljko
Subasic
Subs – Perica , Muric , Hrgota
France 2016
Sad znaš ….
Sretno Alene!
Cico Rules…
good luck to him, I don’t care if he is 17 if he can some how continue his good play and help us in the world cup then fuck it I’m on board
What Great News 4 the Boy ! He Finally gets to get Out of that Nut House that is Called Gnk International Gov – aka Arrogant Mamic/dinamo !! Too Bad U did Not Play 4 a Nice Team like Hajduk ! Maybe U would have stayed longer in HNL with a Great Coach – Tudor & City as Split !! Good Luck & all the Best !! Bog , Hrvati , USA , Hajduk , i HNS !!!
If the kid is going to make it Barca will be the best school for him. He will be just one of many “wunderkinds” there and will need to show desire and commitment to prosper.
Sve najbolje mali
Good luck to the kid.
