I feel like Croatia hasn’t pushed their foot to the pedal in the game just quite yet. Their passing game isn’t what it’s been in games past and they are very relaxed in the back. However, they have had the best chance on goal against Turkey when Modrić slipped in a beautiful pass to Olić on the 6-yard box. The ball had the Turkish goalie completely beat but went off the woodwork. Croatia should come out hungry in the 2nd half after a nice little pep talk from coach Bilić.
Absoultely crushing loss, i was gutted….this magnifies why i cannot stand ivica olic…he played well in the tournament, but can never never bury that chance when u need him too…he just does not have the finish…game should of been over after klasnic scored, but the ref inexplicably plays not one but TWO mins of extra time after they had already plated 120…completely inexcusable that he did not call the game dead…i feel bad for niko kovac, he did not deserve to go out like this…
Yet again we suffer the “no quality striker” let down (2006), Klasnic who had two good games well one and 15 minutes of the other should have either started or played since the 50th minute!.
Like I voted on the site, this comes down to Olic’s misses, can’t miss like that on a quarter finals.
Penalties are another big concern for me, top players like Luka Modric or Ivan Rakitic can NOT miss penalties like that, they do say the first one is the hardest to kick, thats why Luka too it, he just wasn’t up for it.
Petric’s penalty was a whole different thing, he actually hit the target just 100 year old Rustu Recber guessed right.
I am very upset, I really thought we’d give the Dutch a good run in the finals, if they make it that is, everyone knows Italians just go through on Luck and that can be more than enough Sunday.
I’ll get to writing a post in the next 24 hours….im stiil a bit angry and confused on what exactly my 2 eyes saw today and donćt want to writ an angry post….this post, as it will be an important one, must be objective as much as I love the Croatian football team…
Yea…I don’t understand his call…extending time in 15min halfs??? Refs have made some questionable calls throughout. My team (Poland) played Austria…we scored from offside, and he called good goal. So than I guess to make up for it, he calls penalty (for some minor shit) from the box 30 seconds before added time ends. He should have called offside, and whole game would have been different. Maybe Poland would win, loose, no matter, but at least it would have been clear. As far as todays game goes….I hate games that end with penalties. It has nothing to do with how good teams are. If it did than, shit, lets just give up on a whole game, and have 10 minute matches with penalties only! 🙂 But than…golden goal was the most ridiculous idea ever. I wish it was 90 minutes, plus 30 if necessary, and if nothing, another game in two days or so…
Friend from Poland.
The ref should have called full time but he kept going
I echo those sentiments what a game indeed. Unbelievable really! I’ve watched and played a lot of soccer in my life, more than most people, and I’m not sure anything compares.
Croatia has nothing at all to be ashamed of. This team will be heard from again. They’re not going anywhere. They leave the tournament stronger than they came in.
It looks like the Turks are trading spots with their Greek neighbours this tournament, although in a completely more entertaining fashion, I must say.
wow.
Hello Croatians. I am so sorry Croatia didn’t make it. What a game! Your Team, your Coach, fans: you deserved to win this game. Heart braking! I was ruling for you guys to take it all the way to the end. Hope to see your team in Poland-Ukraine in 4 years. Good luck in WCQ. My best. Friend from Poland.
